wouldn't these be collectors items.
@Random: No, as soon as they are traded they will turn into regular Mann Co keys, hence this is a good suggested value because from the January 4th 2012 patch onwards they ARE normal keys, basically.
Even From a Non opened account, Like the crates?
Well - they might stay nice/naughty winter crate keys in an unopened, un-updated alt account. I don't know that nor have any alts to confirm or deny this. However, as soon as you try to trade them (even to another un-updated alt account), they will still turn into regular Mann Co. Keys. So unless you want to give someone the entire account it is impossible to trade these keys.
edit: as I have no personal experience if I am wrong feel free to correct me, this is just what I know/understand from the Wiki and trader friends.
The schema updated these keys the show as regular keys, but in reality the id of the item remained the same, this is why backpack.tf can still show/identify these old items because we locked the schema on these items.
If you look at my backpack, you will see 2 scorched keys and 1 fall key. In reality, these items could be collector items, but many, if not most people have no idea.
It would also seem difficult to trade this. To my understanding there is no guarantee you're getting the correct key until you've actually made the trade. "This wasn't the key on your 3rd page, it was the key from your 2nd page!"
It sure makes sense to set the price of the key to a key though.
Just another person looking for ways to boost their prices accepted number,, but it DOES make sense. :/
