Hard to find but I see it happen in trade servers or somebody will make a deal 2 keys for 5 ref. It is harder to find than 2.66 ref but I do see it. Let's please not raise the price of keys.

Its hard to find on outpost because everyone tries to rip people off. Go to a trade server and you can easily buy 2 keys for 5 ref or even 2.55 each. Not that hard when you leave outpost.

It's hard to buy keys at 2.55 ref, you occasionally find a person willing to sell them for that price on trade server but i've been trying to buy keys at 2.55 on different trade servers for about 6 hours now and nobody has sold a single key and nobody wants to sell them for that on outpost. They're very easy to sell for 2.66 ref... some people on outpost are successfully selling even for 2.77 ref. Good luck buying any for 2.55 though, nobody sells for that price anymore.

Well I think this is not the correct price for the keys. They were always been 2.33 Refs until people decided to raise then. I really don't agree on this, but since I only see people selling then for 2.66, I'm gonna have to agree with the price.

I can't get any on outpost or trade servers and there's A LOT of other people on outpost who are desperately buying keys for 2.55 without success and A LOT of people who are successfully selling keys at 2.66. I bought keys at 2.55 easily 1 week ago but can't do it anymore.

This is ridiculous. I can find them for 2.55 very easily, and 2 for 5 ref is fairly common. Buyers often buy at 2.33 with moderate success.

To be completely honest, even finding keys for 2.66 + online + more than 5 in stock has been difficult for me within the last 2 days.

Everyone is going uncrate mad and it's pulled up the bottom line while other pure key trades (most notably Earbuds) have suffered. Getting keys at 2.55 is doable still but changing the pricing due to everyone and their mom uncrating is iffy. Sure it fits currently (which is what this is all about) but in the bigger picture once halloween ends the key stockpiles will build up and it should stabilise again.

It still around 2.55-2.66 depend on the buyer...it did go for 2.44-2.55 about a month ago...these thing constantly go up and down by that little amount

In my opinion, I think 2.66 for keys is a fair price, I've been selling/trading keys for 2.66 ref for a good few weeks, upvote for me.

I'm usually posting on these threads defending the 2.44-2.66 range but something has changed in the past couple days: Halloween uncrating. For the next two weeks or so, everyone and their dog is trying to get a halloween effect unusual, and keys have shot up in demand. Coupled with the stupid price of BP expanders, means nobody is buying keys from the store, and it looks from here like keys are headed towards 2.77.

Again, I'm taking a neutral stance on this one, but even on Outpost, the key seller volume is way down. You can tell by looking at the oldest trade on the last page of the search "keys -> ref".

To everyone arguing their opinion on the matter: it doesn't matter, sorry.

@xen, are you not reading any of the comments? It appears you are not. Everyone is mentioning how they JUST NOW bought keys for less than 2.66.

And a problem with your argument is that you fail to realize that once keys go up, they will STAY up. Last Halloween was the first key increase going from 2.33 upwards (due to the halloween crate argument) and since then it has never gone back down (even after halloween ended).

Suggesting it should start at 2.66 will lead sellers on outpost to selling for 2.77-2.88 ref (because sellers on outpost ALWAYS sell for more than spreadsheet). Please stop.

And as far as the "volume" of keys being down argument goes, there are over 370,000 keys as of right now (looking at meet the stats).

I don't know if that is significantly less or more than before, but it doesn't sound to me like there is a huge shortage that requires an 2.66-2.88 price range. (Because yes, by upvoting this you are essentially signing off on range that merely starts at 2.66).

As you stated, here on backpack.tf, our job is to reflect current prices. Yes, this is true. We change prices based on market trends based on real sales. Not speculation. Your entire argument (as to why they should rise) is speculation at best. Why? Because as stated by [WDZ-RR] Poncho Eastwood, keys are always in demand. You can't prove they are in more demand justifying a price increase. You are just assuming that due to halloween uncrating. People always uncrate.

Furthermore, when you raise the price of keys, they remain high. Why? Because KEYS ARE ALWAYS IN DEMAND. If we raise the price of keys, as done last Halloween, they will NOT go back down. I repeat once keys go up, they stay up. Sellers will not sell them for less because whatever very small demand disappears once Halloween is over, will not be enough to facially change the demand in the eyes of sellers.

I don't know if I am making sense to you. No matter whether it is halloween or not, people will always buy keys. Raising the price now, will just give sellers an excuse to continue selling for high AFTER the holiday, because they will figure they got away with it before. The only reason why people don't sell for 2.77+ now is because it isn't socially acceptable to do so. You are saying give them a free pass. This could potentially crash the market.

Xen is correct. The exact same thing happened last year. The new, limited time effects encourages people to mass uncrate. It caused keys to jump in price then, and it's happening again.

The previous big key suggestion encouraged me to try out selling at 2.66 refined, with everyone clamoring about how easy it is. After a few bumps, I realized it was as difficult as I had always figured- just too much competition- and I went back to selling at 2.6. Needed some metal today. Figuring, hey, new unusual effects... Took a look, and sure enough, all of the usual 2.66 key sellers were sitting at 0 stock. I put up my trade, three seperate adds in minutes.

Of course, one man's experience. So very well. The proof. Before this, looking through metal for key trades on outpost, 2.66 trades were essentially invisible. If they popped up, they'd be snatched up in minutes, if not seconds. And now?
