Seems to be a correct price suggestion based on http://tf2finance.com/keys/, but it is still pretty easy to get 2.66 ref on trade servers, just not on Outpost. I think keeping a low-end of 2.66 ref is fine.

I don't even use trade servers. I tried to sell my keys for 2.88 and someone called me a highballing cuntfucker.

      Trade server today: http://i.imgur.com/QsOdI.png

Not saying one key buy is evidence; I'm just saying everyone inflates their stuff on outpost.

You should probably take that as a compliment, since the person who said that was probably jealous of you getting all the pussy.

*cough* Hugh Jazz = Huge Ass *cough* *cough*

Wait does this have a -1 Score? What?

I believe people are flagging our comments thinking they are inappropriate. It's just a joke, we're only trying to lighten the mood here guys.

Thanks, now that I think about it people might have taken it the wrong way.

hmm, maybe thats because you are one?...

Hahahaha that is the best insult ever! :( no ones ever called me a highballing cuntfucker! you should be proud! :D

Upvote,I've been trying to buy keys for 2.66ref. Its almost impossible to find keys for 2.66ref nowadays. 2.77 is a good price,2.88 could happen easily as well.

Look at all the links right above you

I support this as well, but I'm never on trade servers and people claim they can get keys for 2.66 there, so I'm staying neutral on this one. No time to get into servers.

I'm on trade servers all the time, and people are selling keys for 2.66 and surprising not higher.

I'm literally jumping trade servers to buy paint and tools and Mr. Valentine is a liar or met people who didn't know they can sell for more.

because no one sells at 2.66 on trade servers.

Alot go for 2.77 even on trade servers (fast)

A liar? So you know exactly what I have seen and know what people on every single server have sold their keys for?

i said is a liar or met people who didn't know they can sell for more.

so it goes for the second one. lol

Sorry. dont be offended just i dont believe you if it was common. i spent hours on different trade servers. and ive also seen 2.77 key sellers sell them pretty fast there

Commonly seeing people on OP offering 2.77 for them. Upvote.

You mean the middle value of the current range, even though the links above you show 2.66 is possible?

                  Why are you upvoting this?

I said I "commonly see people on OP offer 2.77". Is that not a valid reason? If plenty of people are willingly offering 2.77 then 2.66 must be hard to achieve. The price of keys are fluctuating massively so at that time when I made the post (15 hours ago), I agreed with it and upvoted. But looking at the market currently and after investigating the links others have provided, I have chose to downvote this.

2.55-2.66 is a good price. I dont see a reason to increase the price, if you increase the price, people will try to sell for 3.11, its just infinite inflation.

But literally no one is selling for 2.55 or 2.66. People want to buy for those prices, but no one is selling.

the reason is because people like you keep inflating them! Dont you see? Even when the spreadsheet says 2.66, people are selling for 3 refined, if you increase it to 2.88, they will sell it for 3.11, and then people like you will say its proof we need to increase the price because people are selling for 3.11

So if we lower the price on backpack.tf to 2.55, people will stop selling at 2.88? That makes no sense. Find me 5 people selling at 2.55 within the past week and I'll take this post down.

if we decrease to 2.55 we will most likely stop seeing people high balling for 3 refined.

Highballers gonna highball. If we lower the price to 2 ref, people will still sell for 3 ref because people will pay 3 ref.

Thats silly logic. backpack.tf records accurate prices. It does NOT pull prices from thin air. There is no true price of keys. It does cost 2.50 in the store but that should not reflect the market price. If the demand is at a high, sellers will bump up the price and people will still buy them because its harder and harder to find keys on the market and they don't care if they add a little more rather than keep searching and waiting.

That's price manipulation. I hope in the future we can ban people from doing that. Lrn2Trade.

As much as I dislike the key price rising so high, you're totally wrong. This site and spreadsheet don't just put prices up as they please (well spreadsheet does sometimes, and people try here but they're quickly rejected), the prices are based on what things are actually trading for,not seller's B/Os or buyers prices, but what things are really selling for, and people DO pay 2.77 ref or more for keys.

damnit you're right....I knew this day would come...I guess i have to get used to keys being 4 refined some day

Keys aren't going to be 4 ref, you obviously don't know anything about TF2 economy. :l

Why wouldnt they? people are obviously willing to buy keys for any amount of metal :|

keys used to be around 1.66 refined, bro

Actually, check this page on tf2finance. http://tf2finance.com/2012_11/

It proves that sites like Spreadsheet and this one don't really have an impact on prices.

I get keys for 2.66 all of the time....

People use to always sell keys for 2.66. Its harder to sell keys at the higher prices because you can always find someone selling it for 2.66. The price is probably only higher because some very rich players just give 3 ref and so they don't have to bother making exact change (in my opinion they just do it to show off :P).

Why do people always say 3 ref! I'm not saying the price should be 3 ref because it isn't. No one sells their keys for 2.66 (or no smart people do). Most people sell for 2.77 or 2.88.

-First you said yourself that they would sell for 3 ref:

"Highballers gonna highball. If we lower the price to 2 ref, people will still sell for 3 ref because people will pay 3 ref." -Ghost Akrra

-Second you should be a little more open minded and take others kind suggestions when you do not have experience in trade servers:

"I don't even use trade servers. I tried to sell my keys for 2.88 and someone called me a highballing cuntfucker." -Ghost Akrra

And third, I don't want to sound mean, but looking over your comments over this page.... you make it seem like you just come here to complain with people :/

"you obviously don't know anything about TF2 economy" -Ghost Akrra

And lastly, i should give an apology for most of the people on this page. We are sorry that our opinions do not match yours xD

Then you haven't been on for the past month. Keys went up because people wanted them to unbox new halloween effects. Later, everyone expected them to back back to 2.5-2.66 but they didn't and people are still buying them for 2.77-2.88. Sometimes even 3 ref. Why would anyone show off to a random guy selling 1 key?

2.66 is fine you can find it on trade server but you hardly find it on tf2op

because OP is corrupt and is a haven for scammers.

Whenever a post goes up selling Keys for 2.77, they get snatched away practically instantly. I support this change.

inb4 more QQing from people who don't understand that the purpose of this site is to reflect the current nature of the market; not to dictate prices according to personal opinion.

                                        Reflect only Tf2OP ?

And the TF2OP is the only market ?

Trade server doesn't count? And other trade site?

And the buyer who can buy it for 2.66?

                                        Good job you guys

                                          No.

                                          http://tf2finance.com/keys/

The average price right now is 2.8 Keys. And that price is averaged from Outpost, Trade Post, AND Trade Servers.

And just saying "well you can get them for 2.66 on trade servers" is not concrete evidence. Outpost is cited here often because (1) more business takes place there than anywhere else and (2) it's easier to find actual evidence to support price changes.

IF the average is 2.8, you around 1/2 right because 2.88 lies around half way between the current and the suggest price.

However, at the current moment, tf2finance just drop key/ref to 2.78, which is closer to the original price, so i guess you have to down vote this now? Since finance updates at "Real Time" are you going to change your votes accordingly?

                                            My point:

Current range is suffix to reflect what finance is providing, there is no need to change, especially to a smaller range while key prices are unstable.

                                            Notes:

                                            Average of 2.77 - 2.88 is 2.83

                                            Average of 2.66 - 2.88 is 2.77

OUTPOST IS NOT THE ONLY PLaCE IN THE WORLD TO TRADE

i've still picked up a couple 2 for 5 ref on trade servers...have yet to buy a key for over 2.66 ref.

People keep saying this. But the reason everyone keeps referring to Outpost is not because they are idiots who don't know about trade servers.

Everyone uses Outpost as evidence here because it has lots of trades, it's easy to search, and most importantly, Outpost sometimes preserves evidence of the trading price in the notes and comments, which they can link to

So, if you want your source (trade servers) to compete with that, then you need to start by providing some hard evidence, such as screenshots.

I'm not saying that you're wrong, just that you're not going to convince many people without evidence

You can also take a screenshot of your inventory's item history to prove your points.

i dont think the price should ever have risen as it only really applies to big key sellers...most people are still happy to sell at 2.66 ref on trade servers. people have a point....keys are a currency that is in demand but shouldn't rise in price, if people let the price on sites such as this rise, the cost will just continue to rise. Now i realise that a price will eventually stabilise as as people are only willing to pay so much but 2.5-2.66 is completely reasonable makes comllete sence with the standard price of hats and it make.......im drunk,...ill stop...apologies

This site reflects the CURRENT price. It does not really affect what people buy or sell keys at. According to tf2finance, changes in this site and spreadsheet did NOT affect the market price. http://tf2finance.com/2012_11/

Just went around a few servers trying to buy keys for 2.66. Got 1. It was difficult and it sounded like he wanted to just get rid of it. 2.77 sounds about right.

Can someone explain why this was flagged so i can not do it in ze future?

You went against the price manipulators, they got angry.

Are you not the same person who made a suggestion for 2.55-2.66? If so, your reasoning was that it will be the price in the future, isn't that price manipulation.

Yes I did make a price suggestion for 2.55-2.66 because everyone in the trading community has a key, there is high supply and little demand for keys specifically, the halloween event is over and the only people wanting to hike the prices to 2.88 are the people who are selling keys.

these kind of things work themselves down, its not like the price of keys are regulated or anything. People pay what they are willing to pay, and if someone puts up a key for 2.88 and it is sold within a reasonable time, than it should be included in the range.

3 links on outpost is not enough to change my opinion. I am so sorry that you cannot look INSIDE THE DAMN GAME to get keys for 2.66, but hey, anything for the cheap, easy rep that you crave. Also, you do know that these prices will not last long at this price, because technically it is cheaper to buy a key in the game than from another player, lest it be paypal. Besides, I lay you odds that you used a filter on outpost and looked for links that supported your theory.

Even if this price suggestion succeeds in getting accepted.... what good reason is there to support the price? the big reason why the keys got up this high, the Halloween event, is now history, and it is damn near impossible to trick someone into buying them for 3 refined. Furthermore, if you actually went into the game , you'd see that 2.66 offers are everywhere. You are trying to screw YOURSELF over to score easy rep on this site... isn't that so wise of you?

My response is the same that it has been for every key increase since the Halloween event: DOWNVOTE. Flag me till the cows come home, but people are getting absolutely sick and tired of all these suggestions for keys. Why even bother to buy keys for metal since the key hoarders who will flag anyone who disagree with them will just raise the price higher and higher. Rep on this site does not do you any good when you can't get as much as you wanted with your metal because you wanted to score cheap rep on this site.

Generally, key votes ALWAYS happen in the same pattern, in that everyone that agrees to the price hike normally has 20 or more keys in their backpack. An upvote for a price hike means they can go ahead and highball the rest of the community, and the cycle repeats itself. LEAVE THE KEYS ALONE.

Key prices are extremely touchy because what passes for a price hike affects EVERY SINGLE ITEM IN THE GAME, not just the keys.

This price suggestion is even worse than the fool who was trying to reduce the price of a Purple Energy Team Captain by 80% because he could not afford it.

i have 1 key in my backpack. and i can say jumping around trade servers no one sells at 2.66.

Some guy was buying at 2.77 in one of them

                                                http://tf2finance.com/keys/

On average the amount of keys that sell are in this guys range. this seems right.

people cry about keys going up but it used to be less (when it changed to 2.55-2.66 people cried too, no comment on the site and so no crying on this site)

their range always went up by a few scrap gradually it only makes sense now that they're 2.77-2.88 [also no sells for less and buyers offer 2.77]

And what passes here doesn't affect the community cause it only shows whats already happening. Keys were selling for more then 2.66 before this and spreadsheet changed their prices. This site just reflects the prices out there

Liddojunior, apparently you were gone during the Halloween update and did not notice that aside from keys, just about everything else was reduced in value. So sorry you were hiding under a rock during the time.

And I don't give two damns about what tf2finance says. Before you bother flagging this comment, how many of you aside from liddojunior actually KNEW a site like tf2finace existed? Also, what is the credibility of the site? Why is it a credible source when no one else but the people approving price hikes use it?

You want to know why people raise a stink about the price in keys rising? BECAUSE IT AFFECTS ALL OF US, not just the people protesting. This gets approved, and you are going to see the 2.77 offers disappear, keys will be offered for 2.88-3 ref, and suddenly tf2finance will raise the price to 3 ref. The cycle repeats itself.

Oh, one more thing. Do not give me a bullshit excuse about supply and demand. Keys are always in demand, but like I said, the drive to get them at Halloween is gone, and the keys are increasing faster than they are consumed. You are going to have 375000 by Christmas, and prices seem to decrease when they are increasing faster than they are consumed. pretty soon you will have a market flooded with keys and not a lot of takers, since 3 refined is a price no one will pay.

Rep on this site means nothing when people are being forced to pay through the nose just to open a crate.

I was a key seller during Halloween first hour of update sold my keys fast. And I continued to sell at 2.77 then for half of Halloween I was trade banned (steam mistake was removed a week in)

I saw this site have it lower same as spreadsheet but I sold for more cause it was too easy (same case for a lot of sellers)

Sellers don't go here and match it they go with highest possible that people will pay.

                                                    You complain about prices, why.

Tf2 finance on keys is a good source as it goes with real time trades completed.

So what if items get affected it doesn't matter. Buyers change the market, not 1 scrap change of keys.

If you want it to be 2.66 why not say they should go for 2.33 or less. You're obviously a guy who's out to buy keys cheap and sell other items for max profit. And you're scarred of having your items devalued.

This guy making suggestion is actually correct. And shouldn't be blamed for wanting to show true market value of keys.

                                                      Guess what this is: http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/6248229

Last week even Halloween was over. You're trying to buy them at what 2.77

Buyers pay always at the low end. Seems like you would know that this range is true.

You know what... I don't. That is what I can say. 9 views, 0 bookmarks, and i can tell you i got nothing from the transaction. After about a day, I just said screw it and opened a few crates with the keys. I could not get 2.77 off of the keys... there was a major push on Sunday after Halloween to push it back to 2.66, and I got no sales because i had it at what was (and is) the middle tier. I forgot I had the damn trade open, and it leaves you to assume (incorrectly) that i sold them.

I have voted for price reductions for keys and against price hikes. Not going to change that, Next time you accuse anyone, actually confirm if someone actually bought keys off of me.

http://tf2finance.com tracks all trades everywhere : outpost, tf2tp, rawr trade servers...

It's powered by datamining and ACCURATE calculations, to make an average of what the price is actually.

I don't think any human being can do that, that's why we rely on it to confirm prices.

We don't even know if the trade server you are talking about exists.

And I'm not trader, and not even a key seller.

Yeah I never heard of tf2finance before this. Doesn't sound too good of a site to listen to.

You are just stubborn. Why would this site be bad?

I've been in trading for a couple months, and I've never heard of it. And unless we know precisely how it works, it isn't exactly easy to trust it.

Ask base64 himself, there is no way a human being could enter himselft such a huge amount of data just for his own sake.

He'll be more than happy to explain it to you.

From what I know, he fetches all the backpacks steam can offer him to view on a regular bases, and tracks multiple APIs ( From Steam, RAWR, bazaar, TF2op, TF2tp etc... ) to record successful trades with a clearly stated price. From which he can make an average for a fixed amount of minute.

That's how he managed to track earbuds mass buyers who appeared to be Russian CCs thiefs.

Agreed, Utopia. It does not make sense to automatically trust something that was first mentioned on this site a week ago, and all of the sudden it is THE TRUSTED SOURCE like almost 99% of links come from Outpost because it is THE TRUSTED SITE. And FWD, how do you know that something run by one person cannot be corrupted? This point onward, I am downvoting any key price that uses tf2finance as a reference. Why should we trust blindly a site that 90% of the community has no knowledge of?

FWD, I brought this up in my original comment. Keys are now more affordable in the store or on paypal than paying for in game items. This trade gets approved, and all of the sudden, it will rise to 2.88, then 3. I also mentioned earlier that when keys are affected, EVERYTHING ELSE IN THE GAME is affected. the Halloween event is a great example of this happening. Also, does it not unnerve you, FWD, that there is one person researching THOUSANDS of backpacks? I would not trust that site. That's exactly like the kind of stunt that TF2Trader would pull.

I was going to remain silent throughout this drama,

But since you called me out multiple times and eagerly tried to slander my reputation, I am going to respond here.

Before I start, I do like to clarify my stance:

I do not support this suggestion (2.77-2.88)

and I agree with your first (parent) post, but not the remaining.

                                                              >how many of you aside from liddojunior actually KNEW a site like tf2finace existed

At least 60,000 people from over 8000 cities so far.

                                                              >Also, what is the credibility of the site?

                                                              >Why is it a credible source?

                                                              >This gets approved, and you are going to see the 2.77 offers disappear

You overestimated the impact of price guides/spreadsheets. The market is not stupid, it's completely independent. If the market needs to increase its equilibrium price then fixing price guide won't stop it. If dictating market price is that easy then Fixed exchange rate system on this planet does not have to be backed by Foreign Reserve Currency. They can just tell the public what the price ought to be, according to your logic.

                                                              >the keys are increasing faster than they are consumed.

                                                              >prices seem to decrease when they are increasing faster than they are consumed.

Increasing Keys, increases supply of Keys, thus lowering keys price. But you completely forgot that Refined Metal has always been increasing at a dramatic rate.

Rate of Refined Metal increase "greater than" Rate of Net Keys increase, will always cause the rise in Key prices in terms of Metal, if the user base of high-end trading and low-end trading expands at the same rate.

                                                              >pretty soon you will have a market flooded with keys

And you will still have a market flooded with even more Refined Metals

                                                              >something that was first mentioned on this site a week ago

I got 16 random friends for the past few months who added me just to ask for proof/methods/info/codes/api, and I am disappointed that all you did was putting full strength on raging.

                                                              ---

                                                              Aside from this drama,

Let's talk about current Key prices (in terms of Ref)

Trades can happen at 4-5 distinct prices in the same minute. This has been true for any occasion, whether it's before summmer or after halloween.

                                                              Right now they happen at 2.66, 2.77, 2.88, 3.00.

We know that the average slightly above 2.77.

To give the price range in the price guide,

the question is "how many" at "each price".

The rarest trade is 3.00 of couse, they only happen 10% of the time.

And, there seems to be equal amount of trades at 2.66 and 2.88.

The only reason the average is not exactly 2.77 is that there are minor trades at 3.00.

Therefore, 2.66, 2.77, 2.88, is the three most traded price, with equal chance.

If Backpack.tf wants to list the price range that contains the most traded price, go for 2.66-2.88 (Current).

If Backpack.tf wants to list the average, go for 2.77-2.88.

Real-time prices fluctuates every day and who knows if the average will be 2.75 sometime during a week.

Why were you expecting flags? Just look at your score. I believe what you say is true, but why downvote? In fact, why vote at all if it's not going to affect the outcome?

I was expecting the flags because this new flag system had people being flagged for no other reason other than just because they did not like the suggestion. I went ahead and downvoted because the keys market is extremely volatile and most of the peole who have upvoted in the past have had 20 keys in their backpack, which implies bias towards that suggestion. If you don't vote, you have no one but yourself to blame for not saying anything sooner. If this suggestion passes, I can say that I voted against this, and am not part of the group that is supporting the price hikes. I should not have to pay through the nose each time I want to open a crate, and neither should the rest of the community.

I am for a price deduction, and also am getting tired of the constant suggestions for key hikes. If you look in my history of my comments, I have been vehemently opposed to the price hike, because tthe price hikes have a negative impact on the community, and everybody suffers for it.

Before the website updated and had comments based on scores, they had a flag system up, basically used for people that disagreed with someone else. Liddojunior was probably one of the 2 flags my original comment had, and before the site updated, my other 2 comments had flags, most likely from liddojunior as well. Some of the other trades had flags on almost all of the comments, which leads me to believe the admins changed the comments system based on scores rather than likes.

I don't flag. And I don't vote. I only comment and make suggestions. (only vote on suggestions made by that #1 contributor)

Just saying that your agreement is wrong.

Besides the trade of yours wasn't you selling keys, you buying keys at 2.77 and looked like you didn't buy keys.

I sell at 2.77 and since they get picked up in seconds and since I spend my time in trade servers know that 2.66 is too rare to include in the range and the most common is 2.77-2.88

The most common is what is suppose to be shown as prices

Glad I aint poor anymore n have to squabble about an extra scrap added to the key price. EIther way Ill pass the cost to someone else.

Key prices are good as is...til the xmas update. Then the demand will creep up. For now the demand will lower. Though if you're as impulsive and lazy like I know most of you are; you're at the mercy of the tf2 outpost highballers.

Really against the high prices? Then don't buy. If you ALL refused to pay over 2 refined guess what...the price would lower. Ffs use metal. Would it kill u to not buy keys for a month?

exactly, im sure if we did say the oppistite as well all just sell for five ref a piece i meen, the (keys inflating too five ref...) well i for one think this is a TERRIBLE idea...bad for the people at the bottom as the old saying goes....the rich get richer the poor get poorer... I meen the people stacked on like 500+ keys make a 111 refined profit on this small change will the rest lose up to 10%, look at the evidence. The halloween event came = new RARE effects, people sell buds for keys to unbox buds suddenly are worth 25 keys? and keys are worth 2.77 ? then halloween event is over, keys are in FAR less demand, this in no way quilifies a price hike...

                                                                  thats months old.

indeed it was. Sorry about that and thanks for letting me know. However, my first 10 links are not old at all. In fact, they were all posted/bumped within the last 24 hours.

For clarification to people looking at this, I posted one more additional link, but it turned out to be an old trade still autobumping. Anyways, my original 10 links are still very valid.

thnx, i bought me some keys from this trades. And traders on servers everywhere still sell for 2.66, even for 2.55 if buying in bulk. but its not as easy to prove as trades from outpost.

Outpost is notorious for highballed keys. We should look everywhere (trade servers especially, tp, bazaar).

Ok why...why are 70% of the comments flagged on here? They have said nothing but express an opinion?

Most of them just want some proof instead of opinion? :S But whatever I guess

                                                                  http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/6512728

                                                                  upvoted

So old suggested price says otherwise? Use ur brain.

Just going by what i've seen in trade servers for the past few weeks, keys are 2.66-2.77. Anyone trying to buy for more or less was laughed at. Just my two cents on the price

On tf2op and bazaar (the only 2 places I ever trade because everywhere else people seem to be assholes), keys have been going for 2.77 and 2.88. People never sell for 2.66 and barely buy for 2.66. People I've seen going for 2.66 are really desperate to get rid of their keys. Very easy to sell keys at 2.77 and 2.88.

key range should be a bigger range than just a scrap... your argument is because theres a fight about keys it should have a smaller range, no, thats false. you need to widen the range, to fit in every prices. no ones suggesting under 2.66, people hate suggestions of over 2.66, meaning that 2.66 must be the low end of the range.

No. Check tf2outpost. No one sells keys for 2.66. People try to buy keys for 2.66 but they rarely get any response. Even I failed to buy keys at 2.66. I've seen countless 2.77 and 2.88 sales. IMHO we need a smaller range because no one is doing 2.66 anymore.

however in trade servers it is really hard to sell keys for over 2.66, I tried at 2.77 for a while and no one was buying, had to resort to selling at 2.66, they sell a lot at 2.66, so they should be 2.66 as there lower end, buyers can buy at 2.66, and you can buy at trade servers for 2.66 too. thats your oppinion, link to a trade buying keys 2.66 each thats been on for about a week or at least a few days, without any sellers.

I tried going to a trade server and tried to buy keys at 2.66. No one answered for 10 minutes. Tried another 1, got one request who tried to bump me up to 2.77 I said no. Trade servers are weird because they price things differently Some people use spreadsheet. Check http://tf2finance.com/keys/. They check all trades through keys.

that has an average of around 2.77, the average now is 2.77, why are you trying to raise the price above your source of proof?

idk about this, its still to all over of a price to really slim down the range any, it might be best to just leave the price as it is and let it sit for a while. and there are plenty of ppl selling for 2.66, it just depends on where you look and when like any good trade you come across. i say leave the range from 2.66-2.88 2.77 is a good average but atleast wait to see what hapens after xmas is over and done with since we all know that its gunna be hell on key values anyways.

2.77 is pretty much the accepted exchange when cashing in metal except during low supply times. The days of 2.66 are over.

I buy keys at 2.66 all of the time.. people never get to buy keys on outpost because the trade goes by so quickly

Every visit I've paid to any trade server recently has yielded several people both buying and selling keys at 2.66. This raise in price just doesn't reflect the real economy. Downvote from me.

                                                                                2.66-2.77 ref

i have sold 23 keys for 2.88 in the past 12 hours .. i had to remove the post because i was getting way to many friend request. this is false

The only reason I voted no was due to if you have it at 2.77 - 2.88 there isn't enough play room for players. All items need some type of room you can work with. My opinion, hope we can see were this goes.

I just sold 22 keys from 2 seperate people for 3 ref each just now. When i put the trade up they pretty much added me straight away

http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/6523203 - I sold my key for 2.77 ref, had about 5 or so adds for it. One after another, pretty amazing. Downvote.

Wait I'm confused, you were able to sell your keys for 2.77 but you downvote me?

Your suggestion is perfect, 90% of keys sell for 2.77 or 2.88 at the moment. However, people do not want the price to go up and worry that if this change is made it will encourage traders to continue to ask at least 2.77. People are downvoting because they want the price to go back to 2.66. The admin will probably feel the same way, sorry.

I downvoted because it took only 1 minute to get 5 adds for a key going for 2.77. So 2.77 seems like the one of the lowest prices people will let keys go for, and 2.88 is very possible.

and this is not in the current range???

if I could sell a key for 2.77 so easily, why should 2.66 even be included? That would be like, I can sell a key for 2.55 pretty easily, but I can also sell one for 2.44 even faster. That really makes no sense.

I see plenty of people selling for 2.66 in-game, of course purchasing at 2.77 is quicker, and possibly even 2.88 if you're desperate; but I see no reason to raise the floor price. As keys get back into circulation after the h'ween unboxings, the price will drop back down. I cannot support this i'm afraid. downvoted.

In my opinion, keys should stay at 2.66 ref

                                                                                              Am I one of the losers that paid 2.77 for about 30 keys because I really, really, really wanted to buy a buds' and buy my goal unusual? ;;

These are sometimes buyable for 2.66 and sometimes sellable for 2.88

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the current range

'Since we're all fighting about the range of keys, this is the best idea.'

No it isn't at all. You are making the range smaller, thus more people will be unhappy about the prices. You are doing the opposite causing more discussions about the price

downvoted, price of a key is and must still 2.55-2.66

I like the way you think!

CORRECT. Keys should never change no matter what their price is. But unfortunately people are idiots and sell for 3 ref ans try to inflate the price.

well i have seen people selling keys for 2.55/2.66. also a have some recent links.

http://tf2tp.com/trade.php?trade=8689804 ; http://tf2tp.com/trade.php?trade=8686837.i think the range is not correct.

                                                                                                        Easy downvote, maggot :L

Prices are calming down, everybody is over the 3 ref keys and i haven't seen a key sell for more than 2.88 in the past 2 days. The current price is misleading and causing people to overprice.

                                                                                                          +100000

it may NOT affect the price, but no matter how much it is denied, if keys on this or anyother site were set to 1 ref, people would listen...not to mention ive never heard of tf.finace and i gureentee neither has over 75% of the TF market...

                                                                                                            Reason:

                                                                                                            Key price is unstable now.

What we need is a LARGER range to accommodate all the prices that keys are traded in.

                                                                                                            Ask this:

                                                                                                            - Are keys traded for 2.77? Yes

                                                                                                            - Are keys traded for 2.66? Yes

Doesn't that mean the current range is fine!!!!!

In any case, it'd be much simpler pricing it at 2.66-2.88, to reflect the market

There is no higher demand of keys specifically, there is a higher demand in making profit off of keys because of the price fluctuation. All the people on OP buying keys for 2.88 are the same people who end up selling them for 3 refined. The actual demand for keys specifically as a tool for opening crates has stayed the same at 2.55-2.66

I'm sorry to say that makes no sense : the key is both the tool and the profiting currency you are talking about, there is no price difference, because we all stalk at the same market.

if you're buying it as a currency, what in the world changes the price of a currency?

If we are claiming the price change is due to it being a currency in demand, than shouldn't we also increase the price of metal, and buds, and bills, and pretty much EVERYTHING?

did the demand for keys increase during halloween, and did it decrease after halloween?

do you realize keys are being brought into the economy more than they are being consumed?

What about the fact that most of the people on Outpost are selling at 2.66 right now.

I'd hardly say "most". Most I see are highballer idiots trying to sell them for 3 refined, but with no bites.

There are a good amount of people selling for 2.77, but still enough at 2.66 to keep the range where it is in my opinion.

/edit/ Unless you mean selling price vs. asking price...I think I may have misunderstood your statement.

Please, tell me where you guys are finding all these 2.66 key sellers. I've looked for hours, refreshing every 2 minutes a key search, and every time I see someone selling under 2.88, it's sold within seconds. --- those being, 2.77 or 2.77 + 1 weapon. Not seen a single one at 2.66.

Nope. Still easy to buy for 2.66

2.66-2.77 seems to be fair, 2.88 and 3 is too high, i remember when keys where 2.33ref, i think this range is more realistic since keys can be bought at 1.20$ and ref is 50-55cents each, so yeah, 2,88 and 3 are too high

I can't help but feel that this would be artificial due to the fact that if we raise the price the price would go up, and if we lowered it buyers would be happy and sellers would never sell, making them whine on here and try to raise the price...

I think we should just leave the larger range and wait for the market to stop bitching at one scrap changes.

2.66 those are the days when you didnt have to worry about smelting to much.simple 2x ref 2x rec. selling keys at a higher price just reduces the value of other items eg. buds/ bills/ hats

                                                                                                                                    Down vote

This isn't the best idea IMO. I think the current price is fine, I've seen people sell there keys at 2.66, and buy them at 2.66.

Not only have I sold keys at 2.66, I've also bought them at this price too. This is on trade servers, I don't give a rats ass about OP/TP prices as the majority of trades for keys on OP are for 3 Ref. No one in their right mind pays 3 Ref for a key in Trade servers.

I suggest you spend more times in servers than on Outpost. Downvoted.

Seeing how there's a reasonable amount of sellers at 2.66 and the buyers at 2.88 are in gradual decline, it seems the price would be fine where it is...

I have to say from my experience this was true. The "Dell" guy selling fro 2.66 got sold in about .5 seconds. I traded him 3 seconds after he posted the trade, he had already sold them. 2.66 is the exception to the rule. Everyone is at 2.77-2.88.

NOT everyone. I've seen plenty on trade servers go for 2.66.

Outpost isn't the only place to trade.

Nice proof. I've seen keys sell for 3.55 ref on trade servers, must me that 2.77-3.44 is legit.

You're really bad at this whole "logic" thing.

Since there's sellers at 2.77, that say they'll have more keys later, then OBVIOUSLY they plan to get them for less.

The 2.77-2.88 sellers are the key dealers, the 2.66 sellers are the supply. Clearly there's a decent amount of 2.66 supply, or everyone would be buying at 2.77 to resell at 2.88.

If anything, the price should be lowered from 2.88 since there's so many 2.77 sales.

Also, your second link bought 2 a week ago.

2.66-2.88ref seems fair, 3ref seems to high, i agree on this range

2.66-2.88 is the current range -_-

                                                                                                                                                  i meant 2.77-2.88 typo sorry

This is quite funny! Ever since the Halloween update, the price for keys has increased. While there was a crumb of logic then, now.. it just seems like it's serving an interest for someone.

The first 2-3 days after the Update, the market was frozen due to the price increase of keys. Now, it's business as usual. Trade servers or trade sites. If you have refined, you buy keys at 2.66. No issues. Personally I bought keys in bulk for 2.55+

There were people selling at 2.77, I mean.. wanting to sell at 2.77 before and there will be those guys forever, but the market still goes 2.55 for +20 keys and 2.66 for 20- keys.

I guess trying to keep the price up, for some dudes, servers their interest.

I dont care how much bold you use, the real thing i wanna know is if you can back your statement up with proof

I bought 10 keys for 2.55 each on a trade server 2 days ago. It's definitely possible. Outpost is useful since it provides data and proof of price changes, but it's highballer city.

Your 100% right, outpost is either 100% highballs or 100% lowballs, no one knows how to get together on the damn site and meet in the middle.

Why would they? Here is a link to what Outpost people are looking for: http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/6281310

Also, on another note, I think that Not_Duck is a terrible admin.

Wow that trader must be the most mentally challenged kid in the world if he thinks that is fair trading. Im not even sure if he passed the first grade because he can't do the simplest addition. I saw another guy who had his trade up and was selling keys for 3 ref and he said he had 5 buyers, the trade was up for a month and when I laughed at him he called in his boyfriend. Clearly some key traders just can't pass 1st grade

FWIW, I was trying to buy 4 keys for 2.66 without luck, bumped my trade up to 4 keys for 11 ref (just under 2.77) and got a sale within about 3 minutes.

That's nicely within the current range. Don't see a need to bump it above.

                                                                                                                                                      http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/6473441

I bought a key for 2.60 in trade server. It's pretty easy to buy at 2.66 as well since a lot of sellers announce the 2.66 price in trade chat.

What trade servers do you go to? I can't seem to find any :(

When people open WTB post on outpost for keys they almost never have comments! why? cuz they dont need to comment they just need to add them. you should really check peoples bp before saying they have not bought anything. so your so called proof is showing nothing

"Ghost Akrra [BB] · submitted 3 days ago"

What a joke. Anyone care to enlighten me as to why a suggestion on a currency like keys, an item that gets traded hundreds/thousands of times everyday, should run longer than 24 hours?

Why has an admin not done something with this suggestion yet?

Cause everyone is scared to do anything with it. While it appears 2.66 key and lower trades do appear, they're definitely not common from my personal experience. I will be accepting it now, because if I need to dig for 3 days and still be unable to find a single key at 2.66, the current range isn't valid anymore.

When I first looked at this suggestion, I was like "no way, that's just inflation"

Well, I just sold all 7 of my keys for 2.77 within 10 seconds of posting the trade on outpost. I got 10 adds within 5 minutes, as well. Everyone selling something on outpost is overpricing their shit, so I guess nobody was selling for less than 2.88 til I came around.
