STOP FUCKING WITH KEY PRICES IS IT SOO HARD TO STAY AT ONE PRICE?

Not really true, there are 3 ref buyers but not nearly as many as < 3 ref buyers. People who are willing to pay 3 ref each are either:

1. Desperate for the keys for whatever reason.

2. Are only buying a small amount of keys and don't want to wait around just to save a few scraps.

The majority of bulk key buyers will NOT pay more than 2.88 refined each.

Problem is, all it takes is a few people to have success at selling for 3 ref each and every key hoarder on TF2Outpost jumps on the band wagon, increasing their prices too. I can only hope that the artificial inflation of keys has reached its peak and traders will smarten up and stop paying these ridiculous prices. If nobody buys into the hype then sellers will have no choice but to lower their prices if they want to get sales.

I don't really see that happening though, the number of traders wanting to buy cheap keys and resell for profit is staggering.

But the people who are paying 2.88 are only paying 2.88 because they're planning to sell it for 3+ ref.

Indeed, which is why it would be great to see key prices go back to normal, the resellers would be forced to sell for less than they paid or sit on their keys. I don't see it happening though, for some reason the majority of traders seem to think they absolutely NEED keys, which is confusing, most people don't even use them to uncrate.

First off, Keys have been increasing for months now. When they were first added to the game they were going for like a refined, Back in August 2011, keys were going for 2~, and people selling for 2.33 were hated just as much as the 3 ref sellers. Then last halloween came around and keys went to 2.66, and after xmas they settled down to 2.55. Then halloween 2012 came around, and the price went up to 2.66-3 ref, where they will stay until xmas~, at which point they will probably settle to around 2.77 ref.

Secondly, Who cares?? If keys are 2.33-2.66 then people will buy at 2.33-2.44, and sell at 2.55-2.66. AND if keys are 2.66-3, people will buy at 2.66-2.77, and sell at 2.88-3. Key prices really don't matter, People will always buy em cheap and sell em high.

I think the problem now is that highballers on OP have gotten larger. By that, I mean there are more of them and they have deeper pockets. Collectively, they can buy out ALL of the keys that are sold under 3 ref. Leaving 3 ref with the only price available. I've had to sell mine at 2.94 so the highballers won't buy them to profit off of.

TBH, i dont really see a problem. The demand for keys has gone up, so did the price. No one wants metal, no one ever really wants metal. (referring to unusual market) Anyone is selling buds or bills or unusuals ALWAYS want more in metal than they would in keys. So until the demand for keys decrease, or the demand for metal increases--keys really should just stay the same.

The demand for keys from normal players has not gone up. It has stayed pretty much the same in conjunction with key supply. The only demand that has gone up is from people buying to resale. If I wanted to, I could do the same exact thing in the ToD market (But I choose not to because I hate false inflation). It's doable in any market if you have the capability of buying all of the people selling lower out. The problem is there are so many resalers now instantly buying those 2.88 and lower and posting them at 3 ref that the normal person HAS to pay 3 ref. It's not because nobody is willing to sell lower. I would gladly sell keys at 2.77-2.88 if I didn't know they would be instantly turned around and sold for 3 ref by a reseller.

For reference, $ cost of keys on the gray market is already back to $1.20-1.25. The price they were prior to Halloween.

I have sold keys for 3 ref. I don't know where you looked but they do sell for 3 ref, and that only after 2 mins of looking. down vote.

Put up a trade on outpost. Just go and click, "New Trade", and say, "Selling keys for 3 ref." I get offers on my trade all the time.

It works both ways though, put up a trade on the outpost buying keys @ 3 ref each, you will run out of metal after getting flooded with friend requests very quickly.

Thats because theres too large of a supply priced @ 3 ref each right now.

Sold many keys for 3 refined, yet I can't even buy for 2.88. The current price range is fine, if not too low. Downvoted.

If you're only trying on trading sites then its understandable why you can't buy keys for 2.88 ref, all the key resellers have already bought them all.

On the contrary, 2.88 ref is very do-able on trading servers.

even 2.88 is a hassle on trade servers, even though possible. In the world of keys, 1 scrap makes alot of difference, wouldn't even 2.77 be too low a price? If not increasing the price of keys, it should remain the same, never lower.

for last week i bought about 100 keys for 2.66-2.77 ea (depends on outpost or on trade servers). don't see any reason for paying more and don't see any reason for inflate the price.

there are PLENTY of buyers at 3 ref. I've sold about 30~ with ease at 3 ref.

Sorry, but people did provide proof of them being sold for 3 ref. I do still see them being sold for 3 ref.

I've seen buyers @ 3 ref on trade servers. I can't upvote this.
