Waiting for suggester's comment...
Sorry, got distracted for a second :b
With everyone on SPUF trying to buy them for 3 ref.... that means price is def worth 3.11. They ask for 3 ref because they can't find it on Outpost :-) SPUF is always a great way to gauge key price. We really should just make the price 5 ref. Why should a free item be worth anything near a paid item? Especially one that will become extremely rare when people buy $1.20 SOP keys to flip to Steam for $1.70. Goooo idlers!
Explain Clean>Dirty with your logic.
So to continue here, keys are obviously in high demand right now. While some people are selling at 2.88, the vast majority of people are selling at 3 ref as evident from many outpost trades:

http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/6392711
http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/6992038
And many others you can find by simply searching.
Each of these links even provides the person saying how many they have sold, and each have sold many at 3, and many have sold some at 3.11.
If you look more closely, it is also possible to find keys at 2.88, especially on trade servers.
Yes a lot offering for and easily getting 3.11

Not going to post a zillion links as anyone who is reading this probably already knows that the 2.xx are becoming few and far between.
The Christmas crates are dropping now so keys are rising!
Umm the normal keys can't be used with the christmas crates lol.
Regular keys are converted into winter keys through trading. But yeah, it will influence the price that much.
Umm lol I know but they are used as currency to buy the Christmas crate keys. And believe it or not they are also used to trade for metal to buy Christmas crate keys.
And the main point of my post is that the number of crates sold for 2.xx is diminishing while 3.11 etc is rising.

I think we should see if it holds for a day on this one, but seems right according to finance.
Damn, when did this happen?! Steam market?!
Sure did. I can't see where key prices are going anymore, they could really shoot up a lot thanks to the market.
I love that market. Its gonna kill of SOP.... unless you want ref.
Indeed, it correlate with the steam market opening. I'll make suppositions here :
seems like steam market hooked on inexperienced traders who saw on this thing a way to buy keys cheaper than Mann Co store, since they don't know SOP or other sites to buy keys.
That lead keys to jump to 1.70$ the first day on steam market. It may have attracted SOP key sellers, since it's very easy to sell keys 0.5$ higher than regular price. Leading these sellers to hoard for horrendous refined prices.
hi speaking as a semi inexperienced trader what is SOP?
You have to take into consideration that this is not real $$ it is steam wallet money. I might sell a key on the market for the higher prices to get some mvm tickets but other than that real cash is king.
In my opinion the price will go up of keys will go up because people who want to buy keys for real money will have to find a person, and that person would hvae more incentive to sell it to a person on steam who offers more, so they have to offer more real money, raising the price of keys.
Buds for $$ have dropped in price. Keys have not changed much maybe even dropped a hair in price. Metal has gone down.
No reason to sell for steam wallet money over real $$. I rarely have any steam wallet $$ and if I need some I just transfer from Paypal. Now I will just sell a key on the market here and there if I need wallet $. I think others like me may create a drop in the market price but it's a crap shoot at this point.
Ha. TF2Finance.
Well I'd rather wait before voting on this since the market is getting flooded with the TF2 market beta. For all we know keys could drop to 2.66 or less in a few days if the TF2 market supply holds (over 7170 sold in the last 24 hours...).
I personally think the introduction of the TF2 Market beta will increase the price of keys due to the increase in price that is needed to be paid to obtain a key by paypal, but I do hear what you are saying in that we should wait a little longer to see what happens from that.
The reason that TF2 Market beta will make key prices higher in metal is simple, when you have the option to buy for a lot less in TF2 Market ofc smart people will buy keys there instead of the store so what will happen is that there will be Less new keys(keys from store) entering the market and just the same ones being sold and resold.
I'd expect the prices of the keys in tf2 market beta to reach around $2.50 before falling down.
Managed to sell 30 keys for 3.33 each so this gets an upvote from me
I bought four keys for 3.11 refined each. I believe this is a completely plausible price. But I won't vote, because I refrain from voting on key suggestions that are suggested by people with no suggestions accepted.
What is the point of not voting on key suggestions from a person that have no other accepted suggestions?
So I haven't been suggesting anything on backpack.tf, but I still do a lot of trading and spend hours on trade servers every week.
i don't trust anymore in backpack.tf :(
old times when key was 2,33
backpack.tf doesn't set the price. It reflect what the majority of people successfully buy and sell for.:
