I definitely agree, having gotten one early on and turning down many offers, but I'd like to see what other people think about the lack of range considering the unstable nature of key prices these days...
I'd rather this item be priced in refined.
I agree. Call it 3 ref if you want to.
I see your point, commenters, regarding the recent unstable nature of key prices, but I've noticed that many traders are pegging the value of this item to that of a key - some don't even accept metal.
As such, I felt that 1 key was a more prudent value than 3 ref at the moment.
Even if some traders don't take metal you will have people willing to sell for refined if keys aren't being offered.
Fair enough, though in my experience I found such people to be few and far between. Feel free to make a counter-suggestion if you like.
Looking around outpost the bearded bombadier is more popular than it use to be, and it does get key offers every now and again. I'm not going to make a alternate suggestion because I couldn't find enough conclusive links, but it does seem possible to buy them for 3 refined without much problem.
http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/7040237 (sold between 2.66 - 3 refined?)

I agree with you in that it seems possible (I myself bought for 2.66 after hours of effort), though purchasing for a key is much easier and seems to be the dominant price in the 10+ pages of trades on Outpost. After all, I was easily able to find 5 guaranteed sales for evidence (and countless more that I didn't bother to post).
I personally attempted to talk to the poster of the second trade you mentioned, and he/she was remarkably unresponsive, so that may have something to do with the non-sale of the Bombardiers there. (Anecdotal evidence, I know)
Yeah that user hasn't been online in 7 hours according to his steam profile. I still think it's very easy to buy one for a key, and you might get one for 2.66 with a bit of patience. Being able to buy for 3 refined still seems likely which is why I prefer the current range.
Key is part of the current range, and you bought one in the current range. "A few hours" is nothing in the tf2 market most of the time.
Don't really see the point of this suggestion.
Iv seen people trying to sell it for a key or well, 3 refined. Seems like a fair price.
Yes. I had one a dew days ago. Put my trade up for 1 key. Sold it within 30 minutes
