It has nothing about making profit. It has to do with reflecting the current trades. You can thank the Steam Marketplace for these prices.

I actually agree. The cash price of keys is as low as I've seen on sourceop and ref can still be easily found under $.50 USD. There isn't a logical reason for the 3 ref+ pricing.
To clarify things, I'm not saying keys should instantly drop to 2.66. But it would be better for everyone if they slowly started dropping down to a more affordable price. Landing around 2.55-2.66 would be ideal.
I want to go back to the good old days when keys were 2-2.44 ref, or to years back when they were barely a ref.

No, it's not about "the jews".
2 things, key deflation and metal inflation.
With the introduction of the steam market, people are not buying keys from the mann co store, and instead are buying from other traders at cheaper prices. This means that no keys are coming into the system, while keys are coming out all the time through unboxing.
Metal inflation. More metal comes into the system (through weapon drops) than comes out (through crafting).
This combination causes the key's price in ref to increase dramatically.
But keys will always be an infinite resource. As long as the Mann Co. Store exists, new supplies of keys will always enter the market. Sure, the process will happen less frequently with the advent of the Community Marketplace, but not at a low enough rate to warrant the rising prices we've been seeing as of late. This bubble will pop very soon.

Sure the price should drop, but in fact, it doesn't and the keys are still being sold at the current price. Downvote for now, but I hope that I can upvote 1 key for 2.66 ref soon again :)

Key prices will fall soon enough when they rise to a price nobody is willing to buy at. Just wait, and don't buy keys at these insane prices.
Then we should pay with metal instead of keys. I hate that Items prices are in keys than metal. It makes items like Kringle Collection more expensive along with keys. Set prices on site in metal instead of keys, and everyone will be happy
Changing the price of a currency on this website isn't going to effect the market. This site's pricelist acts as a 'guidelines' for the value of items. Unless sellers are utterly stupid, they aren't going to lower their prices because of what a website says, whether it's Spreadsheet or bp.tf.
...Assuming that this was accepted. I want keys to be this much again also, but that's not going to happen.. We all know keys are 3 refined and not 2.66 refined, and just because we want them to be cheaper so we can afford them, doesn't mean it is going to happen.
I know I'm going to get flagged to hell, but I'm not wasting my vote on a 'Yes' if I know it's going to be rejected. Sorry.

I've said it before, and this won't be the last time I do; backpack.tf doesn't dictate the market, we document it. Listing an incorrect price wouldn't magically make everyone sell for that.
