we don't know if there are any new unusuals! Let the price settle ffs,

true, it seems every time a vote is brought up to increase, traders increase their prices.

I can still easily buy and sell them at 3 ref each.

My opinion, and I really would like to get some opinions: Key prices rising, yes. But this new wave correlates with the Steam Market. People started to buy any keys for prices like 3.11 or 3.22 without questioning because of the quick & easy money in their Steam Wallet. Of course, this is just a theory, and not the overall reason for the new prices. But I still wonder if this is also a reason anyway?

I've bought a few today for 3 ref. It wasn't even that hard, just refreshed the search for 20 minutes and put my own trade up.

Yeah I started it 15 hours ago, got one key then. Bumped it this morning and got the other 4.

Yes, still being sold for 3 ref. My story? Yesterday I had 11 keys. I thought that I sell maybe 9 for 3 ref each. Within 3 minutes I had nearly 8 friend requests - and still after 15 to 30 minutes I had people begging for my last keys.

So, yes they sell...but how?!

There is no proof....Although it can be argued that it is a common price i would prefer proof. It is too high andwe need time to settle. 3 ref is enough for now (too much IMO)

Just searched 5 pages of outpost, can't find a single one within a week willing to sell at 3 ref...

ya, well outpost is notorious for assholes overpricing their shit (especially keys). Even before halloween people were pushing 2.77

I almost feel like boycotting all keys just to make the price go back down, this is getting insane. High price 4 days ago was 3 ref, now we're seeing it at 3.33. Thats just not right...

I know work on proof but lets use some sense shall we? do we see the trend here? as we rise, people will rise it too. People normally go above spreadsheet so if we go higher, they will go higher too. But his is my last post on keys. This is getting ridiculous and i am calling everyone out to help stop this price. It is getting ridiculous. TF2 Backpack is a major spreadsheet type site. If we continue to raise, the price on keys will raise.

I do see the trend, and I might start a group to boycott keys. These prices are just getting out of control...

Chances of that group successfully changing the market price of keys is slim. You would need everyone without keys to agree to not trade for them at all. Highly doubtful that will work out. I would join the fight nonetheless. :)

To anyone complaining, i have found an alternate method of profit:

Invest in genuines and other items rather than promos. Sell that for keys then save them. When they show the slightest hint of falling, start selling them for the current price.

*now that i have said this, everything else will probably rise in price too. but if the economy wants it then so be it

I offered the same people a few hours ago (to reduce the price to 3 ref-people agree with me, four voices, admin closed my suggestion). ALWAYS BE hucksters sell things MORE REAL A people go on a leash these hucksters

Your suggestion didn't follow this site's policies, and was closed. People upvoted because they wanted the price to go down, like most people do, but it won't unless EVERYONE takes action and stops buying keys for metal.

As i said, we just have to stop raising prices. Call it 3 ref. Dont touch it. JUST. DONT. TOUCH.IT. SIMPLE. When backpack or spreadsheet raises prices, prices move too. and lets be honest. Outpost is full of sharks (incluiding myself) rarely a fair price there

i think thats a placeholder for an unusual, as i have seen many people doing this lately. as you can only put tools for sale . one uses it as a placeholder to get steam wallet money, some people say its easier than trading via paypal, and safer too

Hmm, I had not considered that, though I have heard that depending on how the market fairs, unusuals may be available there soon. I can agree though that it is probably more secure that doing trades with paypal; less chance of the other trader running off with your money. Still, considering that the cheapest key I saw being sold there the last time I checked was at $2,09, I can't really say I would be saving much by going through the market. When I was still $1,90, then most definitely, but for the next while, probably not. It is another option to the store at least.

3.00 - 3.11 was a poor choice for ranges to accept from this site. Really poor choice. The actual price of keys now is 3.00 - 3.33.

Haha... Don't assume that they will have unusuals... I feel as if they NEEDED to do something to get people to open up crates during Halloween. Halloween isn't much of a holiday and personally, I think the Halloween items fall short quite a bit. This MIGHT be why they decided to put new unusuals in crates. Although, for Christmas... There are three different crates, Winter Crates, Nice, and Naughty. That is 3 different crates with different things in each. Why would they need to put unusuals in them? Look at the Festive weapons, people will open these just to get future investments as well.

Actually, there're a lot of possible effects that look nice themed with Halloween hence why they made Halloween unusuals. Though I do agree that they won't have Christmas Unusuals. That'd just be stupid. The best thing they could maybe pull off is angelic glow or orbiting snowflakes.

Are you freaken kidding me? Christmas unusual unboxing? Is there even such a thing, because last I checked, the unusual unboxing craze was for Halloween only. *sigh*

I'm of course going to downvote this for the obvious reasons (no proof, suggestion reeks of self profit, based solely on opinion, and an idiotic one at that, etc.) But quite frankly, after seeing all these key suggestions, and seeing that they are starting to raise to the point of absurdity, both here and in the market ($200-300 for one normal key.... the fudge?) I'm just gonna start boycotting buying keys for metal, and just buy from the mann co store; at least there I know the money is going to valve, and not to the greed of people who just want to take advantage of prices.

That's it, no more paying keys with metal for me anymore. I rather just buy it from traders with Paypal. Sad day in TF2 trading history.

Keys are widely controversial, so the mods base their choosing on proof. If a suggestion has a very negative response from the community, but it's backed by very solid proof, it'll be accepted. The voting is simply a minor factor that lets mods know what the community thinks. It usually doesn't affect the decision all too much.

I like how everyone says "the Bakcpack.tf price listings dont effect what people sell their keys for". But look at that tf2 finance average. 15 hours ago would be.... right after the start of the day (at least here). Right after the start of the day.... Key prices rose pretty dramatically. I'm not talking a wep raise here, it looks like a good 1.5 scrap raise in price in under 12 hours.

This is becoming horribly stupid now. I thought after halloween this craze for keys would drop and things would be back to 2.55-2.66 for keys. As we increase the price by a few scrap sellers increase their prices by a few rec. Im seeing people on outpost already selling for 3.66 - 4 ref (Not they have had tons of buyers). Also what is up with people selling keys for like 100 bucks on the market. I thought the market might be a solution for these key prices as people would be selling for less. Im just hoping now that after christmas, key prices will finally drop again 0.o

I understand this website has great intentions. It tries to accurately display the average prices that buyers and sellers are settling on. What moderators and admins don't realize, or choose to ignore, is the fact that their listed prices don't only reflect the actual price, but they also influence it.

What everyone needs to realize is that, even though we're all here hating the fact that keys are rising in price, people are still buying them for higher and higher prices. This is why keys keep increasing in price. If we want them to go back down we need to stop buying them for these prices. Until that happens they will continue to rise or at least stay where they're at currently.
