I ran out of space to explain, but when people are selling that fast for 8 keys I was shocked. Just look at my friends list/recent activity for proof...I'm done buying because I can't afford to keep buying keys. The actual price should possibly be lower due to the speed at which I bought, however this is at least more accurate than the recent price

Well, I would probably be willing to buy a lot of these at 9 keys. Look what happened to crate #30 only a short while after it was discontinued. The current price range seems low, but your suggested one makes me smh.

They are selling on the steam market at $16. Wow... so that means your price range is accurate. Up voting.

If we are going by steam market prices then keys should go down too.

How does the steam market lower the metal value of keys? If anything, it should be raising their metal value(unless we get the option to sell metal on it soon)

He said because they cost $16 in the market (which is like 8 keys, i think), that is evidence of how much they should be worth. I was saying, if we are going by that logic, most keys in the steam community market are going for $1.86-1.99 (at least .50 cents under store) and should reflect such value.

Yea that's true. I think it is also easier to sell on the market than paypal as well. With paypal you need rep. On the market you don't need anything which means more buyers = raise the price.

You can't use buy orders as proof FYI. It is showing only a quick sell price on the market, what people are willing to dump it for quick keys. Makes sense that people will get rid of it cheap because they want to uncrate more smissmas crates! But after I just looked on the steam market, the price you're suggesting is very accurate. Because keys on the market are going for ~$2 each, and $16 is only technically 8 keys at most.

I believe that's about how much the seller actually makes off of them. There's an extra 30 cents or so of Valve Tax.

It's unfortunate to see how these are dropping since I have one. Granted yesterday someone bought one of mine for 10 keys (on a trade server).

But no one on site wants them for 10 keys it seems. So I agree with this price, even though I have one.

i agree, it sucks that they're dropping, even though it did help me stock some up fast. i doubt they'll drop much farther, and this could just be the winter update. i tried holding off to make a suggestion until i was sure it was accurate. i was afraid of negative rep :-x. but it is what it is

Well it's true for every expensive item, people try to convert them into keys to uncrate, which drives their value down every time there's an update. I own a lot of crate #40, and I agree that the current price should be lowered. And I'm not saying that so I can buy more... hehehehe.

Valve has completely screwed over the crate 40s. First they refused to stop dropping them on halloween, now they release another strange huntsman and still refused to stop dropping the 40. Valve is a bunch of fucking idiots is the moral of this story.

Don't get mad at Valve because you invested poorly. I saw this coming for a long time.

Anyway, I agree with the new price range, maybe even just 8 would be more appropriate.

I do believe Valve over did it, #54 and #55 out before #50?

Actually it should have been a great investment. There was absolutely no way to see it coming because it simply should not have happened.

Nope hoarding never works the 2nd time. After 30s went up no one, every man and his dog bought crate 40s. Same's happening with current festives. Things like this only works once.

All the festives go down when the crates still drop and are being unboxed. They go back up when the crate isn't dropping anymore. They will inevitably go back up. The salvaged crate still hasn't stopped dropping yet. When it stops dropping, hoarding has worked and the price rises dramatically.

What of the Huntsman? Sappers are possibly the safest part of Crate 40 at the moment.

There were plenty of signs to show that hoarding them wasn't a good idea. I sold all of mine at their peak prices at their respective times.

Valve has an economist (Yanis) to play around with the TF2 economy and salvaged crates are his biggest experiment. I don't know about you, but I don't invest in experimental currencies.

And riding on the idea that "40s gonna stop dropping soon!" and "50s coming out almost!" is what every kid and their dog was doing. I think it's hilarious that Yanis decided to make liars out of those people, who used conjecture to create an illusion their items were worth more.

I don't invest in crates. I was about to buy a crate 40 before they went up to 12 keys, but I didn't have enough. (I'm not a very rich TF2er) But in the case of the festives, I have like 4 festives, and I'm guessing they only went down because of the possibility of coming out again, which they didn't.

What's really gonna bake your noodle is Valve would have stopped dropping the crates already if it wasn't for people hoarding them like you have. :)

Upvoted, i bought 2 x #40 crates for 8 keys each yesterday. 8-9 keys range is good.

why crate 40 weapon always droping no main reason

supply > demand

and the only good thing in it as of now that you can profit off of, is the sapper.

SF huntsman made the regular huntsman drop pretty hard, and it's a tough sale.

So you basically only have a 20% chance to profit

In all logic, they are probably waiting for the crate 40 supply to drop enough before they release 50.

I've looked in his bp, he majorly invested in crate 40s. It's painful how much he's losing.

I traded mine for a black Bills last night, they stay around 10 keys, so this is low. I will admit I did so in anticipation of this crate going down in price.

They probably will. The issue is that the content of the crate are now mostly either worthless or reissused. Huntsman is in the naughty crates, nobody cares for holiday punch, mantreads, or widowmaker. The only thing that it has going for it is the sapper. I don't see that price of this crate reaching 15 keys anytime soon.

I'm not sure here, couldn't find any sellers at 8 keys and I'm always careful with buyer trades.

well, i did post proof of trades at 8, they can easily be had at 8, and they're about 8 through the marketplace as the first few comments noted. although finding them at 9 is much easier, 8 is possible, hence the 8-9 range. honestly if you tried you could probably get them cheaper than 8, sharks are looking to pay 6-7

those trades didn't have any responses/comments at 9 either, that's what they were asking...we have no way of knowing how low people offered if they even bought them

I agree with all your points and since most of the crates sellers have outdated prices or "retracted" c/os of 12 keys it's hard to find good proof here. I will upvote.^^

I think that the reason why the 40 is still dropping is because the 49 is still dropping. I think only when the 49 gets cycled out will they release the 50

I can't wait for Valve to troll a rerelease salvaged stranges in regular crates. :3 Though I guess I agree, many people are selling for 8, it seems.
