Im kind of a novice here but; I think there needs to be some sort of clarity between desperation and realism. Most people who can buy the key's themselves will. It get's frustrating when you in a situation where you can't get a key (Mostly being stuck at F2p) and getting all these crates that fill your inventory only to have to delete them and the chance of getting something nice.
So..there is always the situation of price gouging and game balance. I would have to smelt all of my items just to make metal to then get a key that will open a crate that is in no way a resurgent that it will be anything of value.
So its a cross between spending money and not really knowing what your going to get with people who keep upping the prices on everything.
People aren't upping the price. The price is just being accurately reflected. Most f2ps have no need to use a trading site because they can only trade certain items that they'd get from drops.
No, they go for 3.33 and up...

Yes we all miss the old key prices blah blah, sadly this site reflects the current prices, not the ideals. Show me someone selling keys for this much and I'll buy the whole supply.
That's because it started with some dumbfuck who bought a key for 3 ref, that's what happened. Now everyone thinks EVERYONE should buy keys for 3 ref. I think it's bullshit unless strange prices go up quite a bit.
They're actually selling for that much, though. I posted a trade selling 2 keys for 3.22 each and had 2 adds within 10 minutes. It doesn't matter why the prices are higher, not for the purposes of this site, but they are. You can't deny that.
I would love this price.... if there was some kinda proof of a key drop...... This saddens me... I have to down vote you.....

Unfortunately that is not how his site works.
As much as I want this to happen, It won't.
A couple of remarks:
1- WOn't happen any time soon sadly
2- The range really needs to be 2.5-3.
3- This site is _NOT_ merely reflective of sales of items- you had no qualms with dropping the price of that merc scarf without any proof that any unique scarf would ever sell for 3-5 keys just because it started to get sold in the mann co store without being uncraftable any longer. The fact is, the spreadsheets prices (including this one) has a direct effect on what traders will sell for, and they'll usually (try to) push for higher prices using the spreadsheets prices as a guide.
