Quantity doesn't mean everything. Demand and the price that people are willing to pay also determine an items value.

even though i do agree with you duscoda, i find it strange that with the release of new festives, the normal ones didnt shoot up as high as expected. yet i agree that quantity doesnt dictate everything since the bills is also an all class hat and yet the festive scatter is limited to scout. i believe the class specific part is whats holding most festives back.

Agreed. There are more HOUWARs than Uncraftable 70s Chapeus. That doesn't mean that they should be 9-10 buds. Downvoted.

Or, a more practical comparison, there are similar numbers of G. Bushman's Boonies and G. Merc's Pride Scarves (roughly 100 more Scarves) and the G. Scarf is about 2-3 times as expensive.

What they are saying is true, if items' prices were based on the amount in existence, bills would be worthless as they are more common then multiple craft hats combined.

The TF2 market isn't dictated by supply and demand. It's driven by Demand and Conversion of Real world money (items on sale in mann co. cost less in metal). Obviously the Festive Scattergun isn't known for being a commonly used currency item, and those who want to use it have it by now, so it is less than bills because less demands. C:

(as for collector and low-quantity items, they are very highly demanded by collectors, which is a whole different market altogether. Therefore, higher demand/price.)

Napper's Respite. Used to be a craft hat. Now it's 2 ref. Demand. It's just a theory, the TFEconomy isn't as Black and White as it seems sometimes.

so you're arguing that the supply of napper's respites plays no part in it's price? How does the napper's respite example illustrate the "conversion of real world money" aspect?

Sure, the increase in price is due to a shift in demand, but the large supply of the hat is the reason it costs 2 ref rather than 2 keys. Of course there are other factors, but it's foolish to completely discredit supply.

Festive Scattergun is not a currency item at all. That is like saying socks is a currency item that stores use to buy money. That is inaccurate.

I'm saying because it isn't a currency item like the Bill is, it's not demanded as much as bill's, thus lower buyouts. His reasoning is quantity to raise the price, because there are more Bills than F.Scatters. But that is wrong.
