Why not..... Theres no reason for the "increased" price. Its fake. The sellers charge 1 scrap more everytime the price goes "up", making people believe the price is increasing and therefore a a vicious cycle is created.
There are many reasons the price has gone up. Sellers ask for more but the keys are still selling for an average of 3.33 ( http://tf2finance.com/keys/). They can ask all they want. Highballing will always happen.
Backpack.tf's role in the economy is not to dictate prices, it's to establish how much people want to sell their items for and how much buyers are willing to part with for them.
Backpack.tf reflects the market price. It doesn't firmly decide what they are.
Keys aren't 2.55-2.66, and you're not the first person to want them back at that price my firend, but being nostalgic or butthurt or making idiotic suggestions that don't reflect the market.. will not help.
to be honest this is not a fake rise. it is a result of the introduction of the community market. people who need keys now buy it from the market instead of the mann co store and so there is essentially no more increase in the number of keys in the market but a decrease as they are used to open crates. as more and more people cash out keys, the prices will just increase until it reaches a saturation point. i believe that the actual saturation point is at about 4.5-5 ref but right now it's sort of stabilising so that's good i guess. if you think about it ToD tickets are now better as standards as their price in the store and the market is about the same.

Exactly. Thats why if this gets accepted and the average trader checks the price of a key, they will see this updated price and will only be willing to buy/sell at this price.

Because the admins have to pass it and the votes are just there to help them make a decision. Since you have not backed up this price change with any evidence and clearly want to fabricate it, highly doubt this will go through.
ikr, i have seen votes where there are 100s of upvotes and like 25 downvotes, but they stil don't get accepted or vice versa
The reason the key is going up is because people are buying them from the Steam Market rather than the Mann co. store so no new keys are entering the market, they are just being recirculated.

It won't get accepted, because is not the current market price, BUT if it was accepted it would not change a thing, since current sellers and buyers now what the real on going price is, and will keep the price going up and up
lol i wish it was this way, most sellers take advantage of backpack.tf so they can sell for ridiculous prices, so bp.tf if used ALOT, it wud make a difference Timey

Do you really think that if this was changed that those who stored hundreds of keys would be willing to sell them all, losing perhaps 30% of their inventory value?
no, because most of those people don't sell keys, they only unusual trade or paint bank, etc. they dont care about selling every key they have for 1-3 scraps more lol
He proves a valid point. This site, however much we don't want it to, does dictate prices in a way. We change the prices to reflect the market, the market changes to reflect us. If we move keys back down, even as a troll, people might start to listen and do this.

We attempt to document prices, not dictate them. Please stop assuming backpack.tf can magically make everyone sell their items for lower.

That's not how it works. Key prices go up here because people are trading for more, not the other way around. If anything, there tends to be significant lag time, at least a couple of days where backpack.tf's price is too low while making sure the key price has stabilized.
When 3.11-3.33 ref went through? People were already starting to ask for 3.44 and get the occasional successful sale. The price change did NOT bring them into existence, it was already happening.
