It was retired a month ago.
There are three suggestions for this same hat open now...
What do you mean retired a month ago?
Do you mean that you can't get uncraftables? The price raise comes from not being able to get the hat at all soon, a lot of people trying to nail down an actual price for it.
I know, you couldn't get the dirty version at all a month ago. It doesn't have a sudden spike in rarity, you have been not able to get it. But you saying "Item's not available anymore, it's retired and shit" is just not right, this is nothing new. That is like saying my Gen. Foppish is no longer available and should go up. The demand is what is making it go up, not that it is no longer obtainable, because it hasn't been for a while. And I am talking about the dirty versions of this hat, not the clean or unusual.
I am not saying your wrong because there are offers of ~3ref-1 key just pointing out it has been unobtainable for a while now.
It's not rarity of uncraftables that is increasing the price, it's rarity of the normal and unusal Fedoras since they soon won't be dropable (or unboxable for unusals) along with the spike in demand for them (since they are now going to be "limited edition"). Fedoras are going up in price, and uncrable fedoras, as a decent subsitute, are also increasing in price.
I actually believe that there some people on tf2 outpost that didnt realize that u cant get the dirty ones a month ago, so they started buying them as i see a guy who bought them at 3 ref each, but the price is not going to change, if it changed technically the price of the Vintage should be affected, which is happening too because of that kind of people
You don't seem to understand, everyone knows that uncraftables and vintage aren't having any change in stock. That's not what's changing the price, it's that the normal fedora is having a price change at its base value, thus these fedoras are having a price change as well because they are "substitute products".
I undestand, but i dont think that is what is happening, i think dumb buyers are getting the price higher, after the 2 weeks, they will try to sell them for make profit and there wont be any buyers
Well, the only way to figure it out is to wait and see. Luckily, backpack.tf's job is to only record the market price so we don't have to do any speculation. Only record the current market price
That is what this community is NOT going to do.
I am with this vote, but the arguments will be (always same shit-storm)
1. No proof
2. That is not the price for which an item is sold, just an offer on the market of unsold items
3. The price is going down again (what means YES the price is UP, but because they know the future of the price ... its more easy to keep it DOWN instead of voting it down again, if the price is falling)
etc.
etc.
I tried my 3rd or 4th price suggestion 2 days ago (3 hours after the news) in here and it was my last (active) work for this pricelist. (passive => commenting, voting etc. is fine for now but ... read the rest)
This community is not working for fast (and real) prices.
The average is 80% ok, but some pricelists or sheets which are administered by hand (just every week) are more fast then this overview.
All in all: There is a reason why the most community-members which are most active are not interested to RAISE a price if a good has more value.
Better if it will be raised in a week --- after getting some for a cheap price while saying: LOOK AT BACKPACK-PRICELIST... THAT IS THE PRICE AND I GIVE YOU EVEN MORE ;)
I think the developer of this site did not intend this, but every system has a bug or security leak.
At the end the best list is growing already with almost NO time-leak. The beta market on steam. Once ALL items will be listed (after beta), we will have a real marketplace.
To come to an end. The vote is 100% fine, but wont win.
I sold one Fedora for a key and I got no more offers under 2 ref right now to buy some more!
A price should be THE NOW and NOT THE PAST OR FUTURE and in NO CASE the WHAT I THINK AND FEEL!
1. This guy has some proof, don't think anyone will say otherwise. Whether it's enough (or for this particular instant, recent enough) may be debated, though.
2. Offers are only ruled out if it's a buyer lowballing or a seller highballing prices and even then, it has to be a lengthy period of time before these kinds offers can be used as proof. High buyer offers or low seller offer, however, can directly affect the price range instantly.
3. I have never seen that excuse ever work here (though my time is limited). As was said, we try to focus on the current price without regard to what it will be later.
Anyway I'm not talking about waiting a week. I'm talking about waiting for enough sales to be complete to set the new market price. That could take a week, it could also take a few minutes. The way to figure it out is to simply post completed trades and what the item went for.
And I disagree, the community is working for fast and real prices. And that is often what pisses the most people, especially because the emphasis is on real which means that we don't rush a price onto the list if we aren't sure it's accurate. If you have noticed, there are currently 4 open suggestions on this item alone, with the last suggestion being accepted not even a day ago. This hat retiring fiasco is causing major upheaval in the market, and the only people that's really good for is low ballers, high ballers, and scammers. It's in our own personal interests to get a real price out there asap. If you truly feel that a price should be accurate, and not speculative, then please respect our inability to move at light speed as we are only a group of volunteers.
Lastly, I am glad for the coming of the steam market as well, but unless steam decides to completely remove the trading system, places like tf2outpost will always exist and give us something to do other than monitor and (god forbid) speculate on the automated gathering of the steam market prices of items.
There is no reason the price should go beyond .33. There are literally thousands of these. They are not rare by any means. Real value has not increased what so ever, but there is some artificial price bumping caused by little excited traders willing to use any excuse to get more metal for their things.
They are having a real value increase because they are a substitute product for unique fedoras which are undergoing a large price hike.
Say I can buy a computer for 500 dollars, or I can get the same specs computer from a knock off brand for 400 dollars. Suppose an event happens that increases the cost of the original to 1000 dollars. Do you think the knock off brand is going to keep selling 400 dollars?
There is a reason: The market price!
These price changes are interesting to watch as they are really all over the place. As an attempt to get some proof I'm putting mine up for sale now (http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/7851075). I'll see what kind of offers I get and if they are in your range (I put a time limit on the trade).
You should write: C/O starting at 2 refined (in your offer) to get more feedback
Lol, totally forgot to write the starting C/O. I was wondering why it was moving so slowly I was expecting at least 1 lowballer by now.
Thats too much for a uncraftable hat since even the clean one didnt go that high yet so, downvote.
