It is difficult. Many of the search options show uncraft batters at the old price, and they're sold 90% of the time. I will try and dig some more up.

Why is the lowest tier dirty hat in the game (arguably below the football helmet) suddenly worth more than a craft hat

Saxton Hale announced it will retire so it will no longer be findable or crafted. It's price is going up since it'll be a collectible.

Saxton Hale is the last person you want to piss off... those hats meant a lot to him.

Honestly? Hype. Its the same as the "Uncraftables" update, which made them "Rare" and raise prices. They'll fall again, but for now, this is the price, as proven by the community.

Unobtainable in store =/= rare.

There's 50000 of uncraftable batter's helmets, and that's a lot.

Also, rare =/= demanded.

Oh god, people can't be that dumb, I have no idea why some of them are actually buying these for 1.33 or more.

Right now, I'm scraping the barrel for proof. Most of the trades on Outpost are either A: Not blacked out (So I can't tell whether they're sold or not, and after 30 trades of seeing that I'm getting annoyed) and B: Old trades where they're seen for 0.33, but all sold.

One of my first hats when I hit premium, I remember when these were almost as much an indicator of a new TF2 player as the Gibus. How times change, upvote!

Some people are offering more for the dirty versions. The amount of all 9 hats has risen (there was ~40000 for each starter hats in the beginning of the week) because people are panicking and buying them from the Mann Co. Store, as they still haven't been retired YET. The hats bought in the last week are all clean though, so some people are actually paying extra for dirty version.

I just sold my dirty Soldier's Stash for a lvl 69 Team Spirit War Pig and a Battle Bob on bazaar. That's around 2 keys.

The market is being populated with idiots, these hats are like genuines, they cant be obtained anymore, but do you see genuines skyrocketing? What idiots need to remember is that the Market is flooded with these. You can easily find some kid with like 100 hours and get one for 3 weapons. Genuine Siberian Sophisticate iz limited and that actchooually, omgz i shud make it 5 buds. The hat's been out for 5 fucking years, it's almost as common as the gibus, and was sold for .50 and if anyone was buying these pieces of shit, why would they wait for them to be higher in price? Once the sudden hype dies, everyone remembers these are just pieces of shit

Gotta agree there. But 90% of your post is either crap or just rage-filled. If not rage filled, then its curse-filled. Please tone it down. I've never know of a hat called "Piece of Shit" And I've yet to find a Batters named that, so please don't call it that. It hurts its feelings.
