Jeez, people even go up to 2 ref for it. If any change should have happened to this it should have been to go up to 1.66 flat, or 1.33-2 ref if we needed a range.

Yup. Its that "oh look orange text" or "oh look a green/blue belt" effect. It happens all the time, one of the relatively unfixable flaws of this website. Only thing they could do is remove the colored ranks/names, but people would get pissed about that for sure. I know I personally love my colors :D

Could make suggestions anonymous, but that'd be a lotta work.

That would also make it harder to see when someone is attempting price manipulation, as you can't see their backpack or their profile to check their outpost listings.

That too, although price manipulation suggestions tend to be fairly obvious anyway :P

Plus, someone once mentioned a "has item in pack" indicator, which could defray the risk of anonymous suggesting. Of course, it could create another bias.

And on the offer only trades (which most of them linked are weeks-1 month old) they'll offer the low end thinking its good deal.

If it takes a week to get 1.66 offer on a craft hat, its a craft hat, imo.

I got mine for 1.33 as well, they are damn easy to get at that, but I see people willing to pay more all the time. In this case there are more than just a few "certain people".

I crafted that gatsby with a g. flopp and got me an all father sold that for 8 keys :)

I did it right in the first seconds of the halloween update. Got my crones drone but no craft no.

But it paid off for me big time. Made profit from it.

lol not impressed at all sorry..and if u think crafting two hats together isn't stupid u must have no idea about maths..the chance of getting something that's worth more than 2.66 is very low, in ur case u crafted roughly 4.66 Ref together and got lucky, there were only a handful of chances to make profit on that craft

Then sell the craft hat for 1.33. Sometimes the hat may even be better than that, best way to convert this into 1.66 easily

This recent price change and the other one on the grenade launcher are further indication of price manipulation/influencing by certain members of the backpack.tf community. Just because it is not popular doesn't make it the price of a craft hat. I believe no hat should b simply 1.33 as there will be people who sincerely want it, not just for crafting and will therefore pay slightly more for it. Therefore there needs to be a range, either 1.33-1.44 etc. In fact as more and more of low tier hats are crafted into other items, the price should stabilise or increase slightly supply and demand equilibrates,

As for the grenade launcher price change, there was simply no indication that it was even selling at 3 keys and most links show purchases at 4 keys. Just because items aren't selling like hotcakes doesn't mean that sellers will want to reduce prices by up to 1 key (25%!) just to quicksell.

First off, this wasn't price manipulation, because it was pricing moderator of backpack.tf who would instantly be removed and banned if he was doing that.

Second of all, we set the price of many hats to 1.33 because that is what they are most commonly sold for. Yes, certain people will pay more for them, but those people are rare for those hats. In the case of this genuine rouge, many people are willing to buy for more, not just a few, so the price is increased.

And to finish, supply isn't decreasing that quickly, plus low supply doesn't always mean high demand. Less and less people are wanting to craft hats together because its not really worth it. Even if I'm wrong and people are crafting more, the demand is still the same because they want any hat, and can easily get one at 1.33.

well i agree with you in a way. but what I don't really understand is why do people go through the effort of selling hats at 1.33 on outpost when you can just hat-bank it on certain sites with zero-effort. But my argument still stands that even though most people don't buy it at a certain price doesn't make it out of range. unless of course the inflated price was for some silly reason like craft #, level etc. Even if demand doesn't increase, assuming crafting rate (which is the debatable part here) remains the same and more and more fast learners, team captains, all fathers etc are produced, eventually demand will more or less equal supply. and prices of those 'higher tier' items will slowly fall, as is evidenced lately.

And fine, if it is not price manipulation then it is bad moderation, either way you guys need to be more selective with moderators.

It seems fairly obvious that these are also sold for a higher price, and that their quality allows you to squeeze a bit of extra metal out above regular craft hat prices.

It's very simple to do and the 1.33 flat doesn't reflect it. It actually makes it easier to buy these from people at a lower price as they PC them here and decide they can't get more than 1.33. So this makes it easier to profit from people who don't know better...

Having a Price checking site that's reliable and trusted means showing people an accurate price range and this just isn't accurate.

So the last change's only real justification (IMO) would be to show that 1.66 cannot happen anymore and that the genuine misc quality cannot tempt buyers into parting from 1 reclaimed metal. Don't think it proved that.

So now we've got an inaccurate PC that if left might become self fulfilling. Sounds like the last change altered more than it fixed.

1.33 is in the range, also the backpack.tf price has more influence than you think. If it's priced at 1.33 here, some people are going to sell at 1.33.

I guess batteh is right though, when I made the suggestion, I searched for people selling at 1.66 and didn't found many. I guess you made a deeper research and proved me wrong. Still I'm not touching this suggestion.

Of course not, this proves my point about bp tf. The owner of this site should pay to 2 or 3 old tf2 trading members with high reputation to take the decisions about prices, now this site is worst than spreadsheet. And yes I'm talking about take advantage and earn some dolla dolla.

I think as a contributor (low or high i'm 1) I have every right to express what i feel about this, i don't need proves about the price of this item (there is sooo much up there). Is strange see in your friends list the same guy that approved your suggestion, but not all the mods/adms in this page on it. This is my only one and last post since this page exist. Anyways this is my opinion and i think this is the correct place to put it, nothing more, and yeah i'll not waste more time here (there is soo much injustice in this page and this prove my point, but at the end is my opinion), this is not the only one anyways, there is a lot of trades when ppl shown their dissatisfaction with the price and some adm/mod aprove it, no matter if that suggested price had -1312312 votes, and more. bb.

Problems like this happen once in a while, nobody is perfect. Sometimes an admin sees something or thinks they see something that the downvoters don't see, and end up accepting or closing the suggestion. The majority of the time, they are right, but they have flaws like every human being. Even experienced tf2 traders would make mistakes on prices occasionally.

Hiring old traders would cost money which this site doesn't have much of, and its somewhat unethical to have a community run pricing guide to be run by only a few people who technically shark people every day.

And this site is nowhere near as bad as spreadsheet. They made every genuine 1 key or more, along with half the haunted costume pieces. Now the market is flooded with them unsold at 1 key.
