Based on key prices being 3.33-3.66 and these people selling refined a bit higher than the price of keys I'm suggesting a midpoint of 0.38 on refined (conservative).

Keys at 3.33-3.66 for 1.30$ makes refined metal worth 0.35-0.39, but prices of refined needs to be taken into consideration into the equation, which explains my range. :)

Outpost? Buying anything at all with cash in outpost let alone using that as proof is plain nonsense. You can get scammed quite likely, you never know when some guy in outpost starts charging back all of his transactions. Here's a case which i also got screwed,

      http://forums.steamrep.com/threads/76561198066165486-like-a-boss-andy.16108/

He won all cases, and he is not even tagged yet.

Do you know what also happened? Paypal charged me 20$ for 13.96$ payment, they say its "interest" for credit card company. This is About %35 extra. There was guys who traded 400$+ cash with him.

This is why thoose prices are cheap.Sellers almost always ask you to go first.NO ONE RISKS TO BUY THEM.Even if you do,you probably lose more then you save at a point.

And about pricing metal with key prices divided to metal/key prices,it's not how it works. If someone with cash wants metal,he buys metal,he doesnt go search for cheapest & most unreliable key sellers then get in trouble selling keys. This is too much trouble for "spending money"

Edit:Also,2nd link doesnt even have enough metal to sell for 0.37$,he sells 200+ ref sales 0.37$ each and he has 162 ref in stock.I fail to see any real proof here, except trying a currency crossrate between metal/key and key/cash which also fails.

Your second link is now selling for $0.38 and the third is down to 2 ref and will only sell in bulk. The sixth link also closed up shop, seemed to sell out pretty quickly.

My God! Brad is it really you! in all seriousness - its sad my BP going to go down, but its a up-vote.

Thanks, i was just about to do this. Since keys have increased, ref must go down. Otw all items would artificially decrease in value.

Have things changed since your comment here: http://steamcommunity.com/groups/meetthestats/discussions/1/864956554590413719/ Or should the price of metal be based of only Paypal instead of the steam market or Hexide?

It's a good question. I think the data from hexide/tf2shop/steam market needs to be taken with a grain of salt. These prices need to be converted to properly reflect the price of the non-automated market. People pay premium for automated services. I haven't got around to play too much with the APIs these guys have created for me yet unfortunately -- when I do, we can possibly have more data points but for now I mean, it's very very easy to find keys at 1.30$. I could've posted a ton of trades at that price. We can base the price of refined on that quite easily, for now anyway.

I don't think u should base the price for refined on the price of keys, lots of people (at least my customers), buy just a couple of refined because they are looking to buy small things, they aren't big-time traders..that's just a very wrong approach imo..there are far more bulk buyers around for keys, it's 2 different pairs of shoes

Exactly.People who wants metal doesnt buy keys and try to sell tehm for metal.Too much work. They pay a little extra and get clean metal, plain and easy.

i'll upvote because of Brad Pitt=D free rep

              That's a wrong asumption mate.^^

+1 rep from the vote, - 16 from the comment. Was it worth it?

I prefer to use the Steam Market than paypal so this suggestion means nothing to me. I'll pass, but I'd normally just down vote. Since you're the admin I already know a down vote will be -rep for me.

Steam market has stupidly high prices, I really suggest switching to Paypal if you want to spend RL cash on TF2.

Ok. so when calculating keys and buds, the mid range is used right?

                  also: http://forums.sourceop.com/threads/133262-Buds-keys-bill-s-max-s-refined-buds-at-33-keys-at-1-30 (buying keys @ 1.3, refined @.37)

Also, Id like to mention this: From what Ive seen, refined seems to sell quite well at $,40 each. Below that, it gets eaten up quick. If we were JUST pricing refined I would downvote and suggest .38-.40 instead but the thing is, you made everything work off of refined so when we price ref, we need to include how keys sell, ref sells and so on.

I would rather have .37-.40 since that includes both key sales and raw refined sales. Buuuuuut that just makes nasty .5 values.

Maybe Ill come back later and show some links showing refined selling at $.40 easily and below even more easily.

Yes, 37-40 cents or 38-39 cents would have better tracked how these stack up against other currencies. I have no problem with .5 values since most refined is sold in bulk.

                    I shouldn´t downvote, i´m sad...

finally the long awaited change :3

haha how does this got -9? xD

                          OMFG I DIDNT EVEN NOTICED THAT! shit ;_;

Well it seems people decide to hate instead of providing constructive criticism how to optimice this whole flawed system about usd-price.

From our point of view (unusual traders) that 37$ bud price is just ridicolous and therefor I can understand everyone that is upvoting because of that.^^

indeed the system rly needs a change...

this would be an instant downvote for me as well, but like everybody else I'm not doing it because u r an admin..refined sells very easily for 40 cents, I've sold about 150 the past 2 months and don't see any reason why it should be dropping..and 0.37-0.39 is just a very weird range

Some guys will upvote just because are the "Brad" --'

And many more will NOT downvote because of the same precise reason.

in this way many thing should down

Sorry , i can buy keys 1.1 in bulk

                            http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/6954226

Just 6 days ago seller sold over than 200 keys @ 1.1$ each , many sellers sold buds also .. so if you talking about money :

                            price of buds 32$/1.1 = 29 keys

                            price of key 3.44/1.1 = 3.12 ref

Edit :or how about to use this way as proof to decrease the key value ?

                              I'm Sorry, Downvoted From Me. I've Sold Over 200 For 0.45 - 0.47 http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/8083983

Oh trade does not simply represent the entire market, despite how many he/she have sold

If a major part of trades are done within are range,it doesnt matter how many seperate traders achieved that.

I know it would have looked better to you if 10 people sold 200 ref each, but trust me,its the same thing.

Oh, Brad Pitt. If you weren't Brad Pitt, why would I have had any choice to agree with you?

I like the nice, constructed proof from a mod, but I'm not too into the mood for a currency change. Neutral vote for now.

You can find few 0.37-0.39 examples, but I can find tons of 0.4. There will always be someone who is selling under or above the current price... I think 0.4 its pretty good price for now. Downvote from me although you're a mod :D

While I don't look forward to seeing the dollar value of my backpack dropping by nearly $100, something has to give. The dollar values on pretty much all of the more expensive stuff in my BP is just... wrong (I highly doubt that I can really get $426 for the houwar, as much as I'd like to). Going to upvote.

To those who are afraid to downvote in fear of losing their rep: grow up. The voting system is here for you to have your say. If you disagree with the suggested range, downvote and comment why. That is why Brad made this a suggestion rather than an executive decision.

If you are just upvoting in the hopes of the number of your profile going up by one, rethink why you spend time on this site.

Even though it's the mods suggestion, I'm not gonna upvote just because of him. I need proof. And since I have nothing to do with paypal I'm going neutral.

                                          link 1 sold over 8000 for 0.39

My buds are worth 37$ again so yeah I like some changes too but...

Basing the ref price on the key sales is somewhat flawed because those who buy refs with money will not trade it for keys.

The whole thing to "proof" the usd price of something isn't clear at all. :/

                                            Neutral of course.~

Yup, price needs to drop to reflect the higher price in keys. Right now all Unusuals have inadvertently dropped in value and this is the only way to correct it since the system uses Refined to calculate value. I'm sure everyone here that has an unusual noticed how the price fluctuated from the last key suggestion. And since every unusual in the world didn't drop in value, the only thing to do is correct the Refined. Also, if there are all these sales at .39 and .40, these sellers have to have gotten the metal somewhere for less. Otherwise whats the point of trading? UPVOTED

Yes they did get it somewhere for less(free) as they are metal farmers.

Personally I don't think this is a trustable trade, because you see the rest of the comments go like - "Oh crap, the owner of the site made a suggestion... If I don't upvote I may be banned!" Although Brad is the best, I can't vote on this trade truthfully.
