Pretty hard to find one for 10 keys unless it's a fairly high number - with this suggestion it'll at least give people who don't know the price a rough understanding.... very rough.

the price listed in the price list is the base price of medals. Numbers are not taken into account, though I think they were working on some algorithm to work it into backpack value.

There really can't be a "base price" on an item that has prices that differentiate depending on the #.

I feel like that is the primary situation where there would be a base price.

All medals are worth at least 10 keys, but can be worth more depending on the number.

Pretty hard to provide proof because you have two.

The thing is, medals are iffy. Price depends on #number so its hard to pricecheck them.

But how does everyone know that? Pretty sure there was probably a super excited guy who just got his medal and thought "wow I just got someone worth 10 keys!" He then sells it for 10 keys, when it was #102 or something.

If he's buying and selling a medal he's probably an experienced trader who knows how to price his stuff. It's really hard to price numbered items (same with craft numbers) as there are way too many of them to price them individually.

That's the point though. With this suggestion people would know that there is a giant price difference depending on the number.

no they wont. They would all just try to sell any of them at 60 keys, without considering the number at all

Then they wont get sold. Medals aren't usually bought by people without knowledge of the value that a lower # adds, It could end up like what you're suggesting, but at the same time it can also lead to someone who got a low # and believes his price is 10-11 keys, when in reality it's worth 20-30 keys more and he just got ripped and immediately regrets it once he is told the real price.

Wouldn't you rather have someone not being able to sell his medal for a stupidly high price than someone who just got ripped off because they trusted this price?

well if you say it like that, then wouldn't be better to not have a price at all. some will be worth more than 50. also, having a price, and a price with a range that big hardly makes a difference.

Price for high numbers only. Same thing with low craft # weapons. You don't see those listed for 0.05 ref - 15 buds

Again, how do people know that? It doesn't list it anywhere, all it says to someone who doesn't know this and just wants to sell there medal is that they are all worth 10-11 keys. With craft numbers, it's at least pretty obvious that they know something is up when they have a # next to their item, when the website they price check their item at has a different name for it, and no #. This might lead them to ask questions and further search to find a value - but here all medals have a number. How do I know 100 is worth more than 1000 if it tells me that all the medals are worth 10-11 keys?

All medals have numbers listed as well. Also, if someone needs help knowing that a lower number is rarer, he's probably completely new to trading, and really doesn't need to purchase a low number gentle mann's medal. Sites are designed to cater to the less experienced, but it's only to a certain extent before they don't bother dealing with the clueless.

The medal price here is the base price, or the price for any medal above, say, 5000. Lower number medals aren't taken into account, because this would increase the price for all of them. In the end, it is up to the trader to know that a low numbered medal is worth more than a high numbered one.

It's the same way with low number craft hats. TC #1 could be worth many many buds, but we don't include that in the range for TCs because it's a special case.
