Ahem
Current BP.tf price on keys is 1.42 (scroll over the range to see)
So its keys again, im sure we are all tired of seeing key suggestions however this is necessary.
Guys. We forgot about something. While keys have been going up in price of metal, they have not really changed in USD sellers.
Because of the rapid increase in refined metal value of keys price in USD has gone up as well which does not reflect the current sellers/buyers.
The current refined range, I hate to say, is accurate however instead of increasing key value we need to decrease refined value. I tend to ramble so enough of my prattle lets see a lil proof.

Pages upon pages more if you would like to look.
What does this show us?
Median price is about 1.35 with sellers below and above this, cant find for less than 1.30 and wont sell for more than 1.40 . Facts are that people buying keys usually don’t really know prices all that well so outliers are pretty common.
Didn’t factor in the inactive trades at 1.30 so it looks like 1.35 is the magic number with very few, but some selling a few cents higher.
The current price on BP is 1.42 which is hillairously WRONG.
If you kids want to keep increasing prices in ref, you need to lower the price of ref and not raise the price of keys.
Couldent decide whether to post this or not because I had to do it in refined. But while this is true the current range in USD IS WRONG and therefore must be questioned.
*PLEASE ONLY POST IF YOU HAVE MORE PROOF OR SOLID COUNTERPROOF

brad pitt just doesn't make the price voting for keys in $$$
but the price in refined is accurate, just not the $$$ price
So you are saying the key price in USD is innacurate?
here? yes.
thing is, that isn't what your suggestion is addressing
You fucked up the last link at "Sellers at 1.35" and the first link at "Sellers at 1.40"
Forgot a bracket XD made this in word so its prone to issues.
The current price of keys in terms of refined is correct. If there was a way to suggest real-money prices for refined I'd suggest that. Unfortunately there's not. You'll just have to wait for the price to update. However, changing the price of keys in terms of refined won't fix anything, just make 2 things wrong instead of 1.
Buds are priced @~38$ through this issue.
http://forums.backpack.tf/index.php?/topic/30-allow-voting-on-bud-prices-in-usd/
Would be good yes, but it's not that easy.
Sorry but the price range in metal is correct. Changing the range just so the USD amount is correct is unnecessary. Instead you should post on the forums asking that the USD value be stored separate for keys instead of it being based on the USD value of metal. If that was to happen, the it would solve the issue of keys having the wrong USD value without giving it the wrong metal value.
Ill probably do that if this isnt addressed thanks for the idea

You won't have a problem with that, because you're suggesting a lower price for keys.
Metal prices have nothing to do with USD prices. They're in two different galaxies. So i'm going to have to downvote.
Noted, I understand, mainly bringing the inaccuracy of the USD price into question.
No, you don't understand. Otherwise, you wouldn't be suggesting a lower price in metal for keys based on USD prices. Take it to the forums if you'd like to bring up something like that.
All key suggestion need this proof...
Counterproof
http://tf2finance.com/keys/
The metal to key ratio valid, it's just that the price for refined metal is off... it would be better to change the price of refined metal instead.
However people sell refined within the current range.
That would mean there's market for arbitrage. Go! Make money!
This suggestion, however, won't pass because people aren't selling keys for 3.77 ref...
Metal price was also just accepted yesterday or something, it seems to be still correct.
I'm pretty sure this exact same suggestion was posted earlier today. Same proof and everything.
That one was closed, so why try again if it's just going to end up the same way? What's your reasoning behind opening this up again?
Yep thats me I closed my first one. Im decided to open again to bring into question the use of USD pricing at all on keys because its pretty badly wrong.
If anything, the price of metal should drop, like shenanigans said, because people are still buying and selling keys for 4 ref.
Yes, the pricing for keys using USD is wrong, as shown by your links, but people still trade keys using in-game currency and are fairly successful at the current price of them.
The thing is though, USD price on ref is accurate, I checked most of OP
Welp. Then trading is as illogical as it ever has been or ever will be.
the ref price and key price don't exactly match, the price is good as it is and i hope it doesn't rise
Going to be honest, you pose a good point, but I think a better way to change the price of keys in USD is to change the price of refined, as you said, but as for setting the price in ref to lower the USD value, ehh not buying it. Still, want to see how this is going to pan out, so for now I am NEUTRAL.
Honestly I wish USD and game currency were not connected on this site but as they are I feel obligated to report USD price as I see it.
Down vote
Sorry, but USD prices is much more different than tf2 currency. Please show proof of sellers selling for metal.
Noted, I understand. I didnt base this one on metal.
Its about time someone did something about the raising key prices.
Not the point.
DOWNVOTE
USD=/=REFINED
The problem with comparing actual physical money to metal is that refined metal is literally worthless.
Tell me what you can do with metal. Craft hats? You're 10:1 guaranteed to have wasted your metal. Because somewhere along the line personal taste got involved in economy, the value of the average hat is less than it costs to make it. From an economic standpoint, this makes no sense, but to the TF2 economy, it's somehow the law of the land.
You cannot craft Metal into keys. You cannot randomly make earbuds even at an insanely low rate. You can never turn a hat into an unusual. There is literally no use for Metal. This is what economists call inflation: there is more Metal than there will ever be a use for; this is akin to the Confederate States of America printing so many bills with no backing, or the value of German money post World War I.
Honestly, people who spend real money on this economy are the only thing really keeping it afloat in its current situation, since the other chief currency is worthless for all practical applications, and until Valve gives metal a use or lowers the price on keys in the Mann Co. Store (permanently), the price of keys will continue to go up as demand for refined metal remains the same and more of it is produced.
tl;dr version: Yes the physical currency listed on items should dictate the prices, no it doesn't because logic is thrown out the window, your argument is flawed because the economy itself is flawed. I voted up because I hate people but I disagree with lowering the price because it is theoretically impossible at this point.
Wrong currency, this need be close like any other suggestion with wrong currency.
The price for keys is in refined. As long as keys are in refined you must use refined to keys in order to price keys.
Downvote.
Sorry, I'm going to close this. While you may have a point about the USD price of keys being ~$1.38, the price of keys in refined metal (which everything else is calculated on) is not 3.77-3.88.
If you have further comments, please address them in the forums, thanks.
