After several fails with my computer, here's a counter-suggestion:

Proofs:

Selling:

http://backpack.tf/classifieds/search/199/11/0 --- Selling for 1.5 to 2 keys

Added:

http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/8910717 --- Multiple offers for 1.5 keys

http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/9177926 --- Multiple adds for 1.5 keys, offer 6 ref

Sold:

http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/9165764 --- Sold for S. Flare Gun + 1.33 ref ~ 6.66 ref ~ 1.5 keys

http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/9161053 --- Sold for 1.5 keys

http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/8929528 --- Sold for 1.5 keys

http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/8955128 --- Sold for 7.33 ref ~ 1.75 keys

http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/9024686 --- Sold 1/6 for 2 keys

Rejected:

http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/8846730 --- Rejected multiple offers; highest value = 1 key, 2 ref ~ 1.5 keys

NOTE: Reason it's in metal, not keys, is partially to do with the fact that the site is auto-correcting, and putting up 1.77 keys (Even possible?) Also, the prices aren't going up that much, were as keys are.

    -12 for below your suggestion

Current range seems fine to me.

6 ref is 1.5 keys, Sugoi...

If people are paying in keys, why change it to metal?

        Several reasons:

        1) The price of the Shotgun is staying linear, whereas the price of keys is sky-rocketing.

        2) You can't pay 1/2 a key, you can pay 2 ref (Ik that's stupid to say.)

        3) Several computer fails auto-corrected the price to 1.77 keys (Even possible?)

well, if people are paying in keys, then the price of the shotgun is straying linear when dealing with keys, but in metal prices it's actually going up

Well, key prices range from 3.88 to 4.11 currently, so it depends... If you value keys at 4 ref (as most do), it's staying about the same.

but the shotgun about 90% of the time, from what i have seen is usually always dealt with in at least a key, so if key prices do rise, say to 4.33, then the price of the shotgun would rise as well to 6.33 if they were selling for 1.5 keys, which is currently about 6 ref

It may still have a small tie-in with keys for some, it may have more people supporting it, but if I knew that, I wouldn't be making this price suggestion.

Sold one for 2 keys rather quickly and in the classifieds at that. While I agree with the price change, its hard to say whether I'd like to see the S. Shotgun priced in refined since most trades (assumed) happen involving at least 1 key. Also with keys seeming to be moving on a weekly trend upwards, its hard to say if this price would still hold at the same metal to key ratio that you are currently trying to set.

True, but on the bright side of this, it will stabilize the Shotgun prices moreso. At least, in theory.

It won't stabilize the price, it will decrease the value overtime relative to keys instead of raising it relative to metal cost due it currently being tied to keys.

(I'm a visionary, so work with me here.) It would help stabilize it, as keys are trending on a weekly trend, metal (obviously), isn't. But IF (Big "if" here) people begin to sell it easily for 2 keys - I'm well aware you sold one for that, I'm talking about the general public - then I'll re-try the price suggestion later on at that. Unfortunately, I don't see that happening, and with keys continuing to climb, it's only a matter of time before they crash in value, along with everything else they're tied to.

You're thinking about it wrong. The price is still changing. The two major currencies for items are refined and keys. If keys continue to rise, then metal value relative to key value would decrease since it now takes more metal to buy the same key. That means that a S. Shotgun being priced in refined and stayed this way for say a month or so while keys jumped to 5 refined. Overtime your suggestion to raise the value of the S. Shotgun from 1.5 keys to 1.5-1.75 keys in refined becomes 1.25-1.5 keys in refined. Now that would assume keys keep rising without end which won't most likely happen, but also keys will not crash, they will stabilize in value. There is always a high demand for keys and always people with metal to buy up all the people who decide to sell for less.

Hmm... Hard to argue with that logic, but like I said, if they actually begin to sell for 2 keys, I'll re-do the suggestion.

I'm not saying 2 keys should be included, I was giving my personal experience with the item. I have two separate points and my first one was simply an anecdote while second detailed a possible flame in your rational. You are basically suggesting 1.5-1.75 keys based on current metal to key ratio, I am simply stating that it'd be better to keep it in keys. My anecdote is in no way tied to that argument.

Side note: please don't take this personal, this has nothing to do with this suggestion, but are you an alt account or is that your actual backpack that you have?

That's because 5-6 months ago predates Halloween which is where the initial key spike was that cause this whole rise in keys that hasn't stopped. Keys were very stable at 2.55-2.66 refined back then and were easily interchangeable. Anyways there is a very low correlation between key prices (refined value) and the price of a S. Shotgun.

                      I'll give you that.

You love messing with people, don't you? :3

I'm not messing with you, I'm informing you.

And I appreciate that, my dear friend.

In response to earlier, you've probably played TF2 way longer than me, so you should remember a point in which Strange Shotguns were 2 keys, and keys were 3 ref. I was there, just can't find anything on it.

When you first started playing keys were still 2.44-2.55 refined. S. Shotguns as far as I can remember were 1.66 refined when I started playing. I don't remember them ever officially being 2 keys.

Well backpack.tf only started in the middle of July last year. I think the first accepted key price was 2.55 refined. The S. Shotgun boom was around that time as well I believe. If you check my friends list on steam I believe one of my oldest friends, Exile, was the person I added to buy a shotgun from for that price of 1.66 refined.

This is the 3rd Strange Shotgun suggestion I have seen in the last few minutes. Dafuq do people want with this price?

Staying neutral because of the currency, try relisting as 1.5-1.75 keys.
