I figured out the ratio of logical-to-illogical comments. At least, I think I have:

For every 1 logical comment on a key suggestion, there is at least 50 illogical comments.

So basically, for every "It's sad, but true - it's rising" comment, there's at least 50 "This is ****ing stupid! Stop trying to manipulate your BP value by raising the key prices you asshole!"

And yet, people still have yet to realize it's their own damn fault for willingly buying and selling keys at higher prices then what is shown here.

I don't vote on these suggestions. Too sporadic of a suggestion to accurately guess if it will be accepted or not.

Nor do I buy and sell keys. I trade keys for items that have key value and sell items that have key value for keys. If I happen to have enough metal for a key, then I'll buy it, but I won't spend over what I know I can get.

But I'm not going to be "that guy" and go around to key sellers saying "Lower your prices to fix the TF2-conomy!" Nor am I going to complain about the key prices just because I don't like them because complaining gets you nowhere.

If anything, I'd say doing nothing about key prices is doing more than complaining about them. Don't even touch keys on a regular basis - make it a rare occasion when you buy a key. Make it so key resellers are like "Well, I don't seem to be selling keys too quickly right now. What do I do to get more buyers?"

From what I heard, someone set up a Steam Group that boycotts key buying and selling because of the prices. I think it's gaining ground, too.

It may change as far as backpack.tf goes, but in reality, his keys are still worth the same dollar value. There's no way that $500 in keys could turn into $2000 because the valve store caps the keys off at $2.50 each (A possible maximum 1.66x value).

So I am guessing the fact that Long bought 12 PAGES worth of keys 2 days ago from namira has nothing to do with this his recent price increase.

Let me break down some math for you

1000 keys x .11 ref increase = 110 extra refined to buy more keys

110ref / 4ref = 27 Key Profit.

Every single time keys are increased by one scrap this gentleman is currently making $54.00 profit.

If he is SUCH the trader why is everything in his BP worth nothing other then a 1 bud unusual yet he has over a 1000 keys and in the last 3 months has made the most price suggestions.

Key price is stable ~1.20-1.30.

It is the vaule of refine dropping, so after each successful key suggestion, we need to lower the value of refine metals in USD to balance the change.

But we technically cannot lower the price of refined, because that item itself is still selling for the current price. The only real solution is to allow separate cash values for keys/buds.

Yeah. The main problem is that keys are based directly off of refined metal's cash value, and earbuds are based directly off of keys. With that issue, it's currently valuing earbuds at about $39 when in reality, they are only ~$33 or so. And keys at ~$1.45 when in reality, those go for ~$1.30 or so (give or take, haven't checked much recently).

The solution is the site need to change the basic price base on keys price, which is ~$1.30, since key price won't change much, the refines keep dropping.

You don't have to break down some math for me because there's no math that needs to be done. The cash market and trade market are two different economies.

With the "math" you are telling me here, he would have to sell all of his keys for metal, and then successfully buy 1000 keys back for 1 scrap less than what he sold them for. How is he going to accomplish this when "he is constantly raising the value"? He must trade really fast too, because he hasn't had more than 15 ref in his backpack this week. (From what backpack.tf captured as the history)

All he's doing is suggesting the price that keys now sell for. If you can't take it, then don't vote.

Well once you figure out how to show trade server trades as proof come and do it.

If you buy a key for less or know people who sell for less and buy for less ask them to post their trade history shots here.

And the reason outpost is used, is because its public info and actually leaves a trail that everyone and anyone can check and see. And it has a big amount of traffic.

I worded that poorly. I mean that it's rather logical for Valve to lower the store price, not because of complaints of the community. With the Steam Marketplace and "key shortage" and whatnot, plus with the numerous amounts of new players and people purchasing things in the Mann Co store, lowering the price would probably be a great way for them to make some more money or something. Doesn't even have to be permanent, can be a temporary sale, just for the sake of it. Plus it will appeal to those who have constant problems with the key prices (in ref) and the key price will probably dip back to 2.66 or so (at least temporarily).

I'm no economics expert, but that's how I picture it could happen.

Some of the proofs were horrible, reused from previous suggestions, especially on the middle part. Some of them were already invalid, when they put them as a proof in the the prev. key suggestions.

Admins / moderators: Im just curious, did you even check the previous accepted key suggestion proofs? I wouldn't be surprised, if they had the same quality as some of these in the past days... (Somehow I have a feeling you didn't checked them enough, and if im right then backpack.tf could have a huge responsibility in this whole currency inflation.)

Anyway, does the market only panic when Long gives-in a suggestion? According to TF2finance key/ref was much more stable when someone else suggested a new key price.

Everyone panics every time there's a key suggestion. Check ANY key suggestion before.

On the last 3 suggestion, keys kept from 4.00 to 4.04, max ~4.06. But now probably the new crates cause this. (However, in my opinion these crates are pretty bad, include #50.)

I try to avoid these suggestions because the community goes nuts about them. If you ask me, there's been unboxing sprees more often since the halloween update.

Various 'known' people on backpack.tf suggest a price and get shit on but it's accepted anyway. People on outpost watch this site for just such an opportunity and bump their prices yet again. Rinse and repeat. Suddenly keys have jumped a refined.

To the admins: This has gotten way out of hand and the validity of this site as a reputable source of pricing and the integrity of the whole voting process is coming into serious question in numerous places since it would be extremely easy to manipulate this system.

What? You're waiting until people start posting 'proof' that this site is helping manipulate prices and then you have to do some sort of kneejerk defense like the spreadsheet guy did? Give it time, it's already starting.

The higher value trades off outpost were already well into 4.22-4.33 at the time this suggestion was made. They were fully ignored for this suggestion.

Then those would be better as proofs. In my opinion still better than some of those above, like the 24 hours ago closed trades.

I would say the sheer numbers looking to buy for 4 ref are proof enough. They're all buyer trades, remember. As for trade servers? That's why tf2finance is used. The average there across multiple sites and trade servers indicate an average of 4.05 or over, which would imply that 3.88 isn't happening with enough frequency compared against 4 and 4.11.

4 ref proof for 4.11 price you are actually trying to change.Most of the proof is useless and invalid.
