Any clue as to how many are out there? Also, would it mean that #30 is gonna get a price raise as well?

There are ~15x more 40's on the Steam Market than 30's. Not a good indicator by any means, but it's all I know of.

I don't see why the retiring of 40 would increase the price of 30. If anything, a newer, shinier salvaged crate just might make old ones go down a bit, I think. Purely conjecture, of course.

You guys can complain about him just trying to raise the price because he owns it, but it's kind of inevitable that the price will jump up that high anyway.

Price might actually fall as everyone rushes to sell theirs. Many people have been holding onto theirs just for this moment and if they all try to sell them at the same time they are going to have to compete with each other.
