I think I can explain this rapid price jump with 2 words:

Strange Guillotine.

Explain, I may be slow.

Guillotine crits stunned targets. Sandman stuns targets.

But there were stock guillotines before strange ones...

I guess a kill counter motivates people to use the Guillotine more.

Eh I guess, but that's not the reason why I upvoted :)

And now that people feel like they can accomplish something with a Strange Guillotine, they will think to themselves "If I have a S Guillotine, why not get a S Sandman to complete the 1-2-punch set?"

In all honesty, Strange weapons are just grinding kills to make you feel like you're accomplishing something... or at least it does to me.

I swear someone ran around today and bought them all. There were quite a lot earlier today at 2 - 2.66 ref. Even on backpack. I looked into it before I sold mine for 2.66

Except you are the one trying to convince me and the mod that your suggestion is right, and with the proof you provided, I am not convinced.

Actually, I ended up doing my own research, majority of offers were in the 2-2.66 range, there was still one selling for 2.33 (hasn't sold for 2 days) on the classifieds and besides your trade I saw only one successful trade at 4 ref, and fairly sure it was named, so no, no I do not think you are right, even after research.
