You're suggesting to change the value of a currency. It's inevitable, regardless of whether you are right or wrong.

Never hurts to try asking :D

So you found a bunch selling at $0.35. Now show us that people selling for $0.36 and $0.37 having no success.

^ as he say, meanwhile downvote

Trying to find some. I have one 36c so far.

It seems like they are either selling for 35c or way higher than that, not really anything in-between.

      Please stop lowering the artificial value of my backpack:( I got 700 refined in there, if this passes, ill lose $14.00!!! ;___;

no, just no. Go away, please.

It would be smart to buy keys...

Refined gets being pumped into the economy by idlers...

a few months late with this advice

The truth is the truth though...

agreed. and the rush to invest in keys only accelerates the process.

Do you even know what "humor" or "sarcasm" is?

Obviously no, because you don't see the joke.

No place for sarcasm on the internet.

Your argument is invalid, this is a not a rule of the internet.

Btw. It's funny how the people still take his posts serious.

By the way, upvote all key suggestions please.

because you want your value to be higher and make the economy fall? NO WAY!!!

                14$ isn't much.

Please stop downvoting my comments, I bleed red like you all do. And my teeth are made of solid gold.

                    DOWNVOTED

Who said i did? I dont downvote comments

you can't tell people what to do. majority wins.

some people have no sense of humour. don't worry bro(/sis?), i liked the joke

http://forums.backpack.tf/index.php?/topic/264-key-prices-in-usd/#entry3437 - It should be even lower.

Avg. Key Price / Avg. Key-Ref Exchange = Avg. Refined Metal Price

This should be done automatically by backpack.tf, and instead we'd update the price of keys in USD.

I can go with this price. It gets us close to the 1.35$ for keys

Ill contribute some proof, heres proof key prices havent changed but since theyve been going up in ref that means ref needs to go down.

                            Posted yesterday:

"Continue to reduce the value of ref in USD? Its price already reduced ridiculously.. There is more incoming keys, than refs! (ofc. not in numbers, but in ratios)

                            According to stats.tf:

501 198 Keys (+at least 7 000 keys which didn't converted to normal keys, like: fall / naughty winter 2012 / scorched / nicewinter 2012 and the older ones, but I wont include them)

                            1250429 pure refined - Key/Ref ratio = 2.49 ref

                            +267555 ref in reclaimeds - Key/Ref ratio = 3.02-3.03 ref

                            +148130 ref in scraps - Key/Ref ratio = 3.32 ref

(And the new crates already out!)

A bit older stats from one of my previous post on someone's key suggestion.(8th Marc ~23:30 GMT+1 from stats.tf)

                            "Key/Ref ratio according to stats.tf: 1key = 2.58 Ref

including scraps and reclaimeds: 3.42 Ref"

--> So the price of keys should be dropped, instead of increased."

We should need "independent" key price in USD instead of the ref one, since it is much more stable with a value of 1.35$. It would fluctuate the ref price itself (due to the key-ref price changes), without any suggestion. Also if key would be the main currency of the site, it would make a more realistic price for buds. (27*1.35$=36.45$ still closer than the ~39.5$+)

Invalid. To pump keys into the market it costs $2.50. Who pays 2.50 then sells for $1.35?

Valid. The stats show the fact that im right. Yep, keys come from the store for 2.50$, then? There are still plenty of new keys come to the mannconomy. More then ref in ratios. Would you explain how is it possible?

There are a lot of people who dont know about sop, or other greymarket trade sites. Also, there are still people who dont even know what is steam market and buy the keys from the store, to get games with them.

Anyway, would you explain what did you want to say?

"Who pays 2.50 then sells for $1.35?" Key goes for 1.30-1.35-1.40, on SOP or on TF2OP. (Even in your own proofs lol..) Thats a fact too. Also, why would people sell on the market for less?.. Probably because no one would buy it for the store price. And you can't withdrawn money from the steam market.

On the greymarket? Not sure, probably the "supply-demand" (if anyone have a better explanation, I would gladly hear) made this price.

So actually what is your problem with the 1.35$ price? bp.tf has to show/reflect the greymarket price for keys in USD, not else. It shows now 1.46$, based on the current ref price, which is clearly wrong. You can drop the ref's USD price, but it doesn't solve anything. It would be a good idea if the key-ref rate would grow, but it is only getting reduced now. Pricing the whole site based on refs shows the wrong and constant rising price of keys, buds, and unusuals in USD. If it would based on keys, it would be much more stable, and closer to their real worth.

The ratio of keys to refined metal is irrelevant: not every key is being traded for refined metal, and vice-versa.

There is a limited amount of keys available to be traded for refined, and it's very easy to trade at least 4 refined for each one at the moment.

Refined is a good method to price all items in the market in USD; we just need an accurate representation of its actual value.

"There is a limited amount of keys available to be traded for refined"

"vice-versa" Just like refined, so why sould it be irrelevant? You have to pay USD for more keys, and you have to play/idle more for more refs. There were 3.32x more refined, then keys in the mannconomy yesterday. It means the "current" exchange rate should be 3.32, but we all know atm. it is not possible. but it shows that ref price is underpriced, and should be higher instead of dropping it. The key-ref rate is dropped 0.10 in 6 days.

Would rising the USD of refs would solve it? No, with this pricing system it couldn't solve it ever, except if the key-ref rate would dropping. The higher ref price would cause only rising for keys, buds, and unusuals in USD. They are already overpriced, and thats one big problem atm. If we would change the main currenty to keys, ref would corrigate itself in USD with each key suggestion, it would drop, or rise itself depend on the suggestions. Keys' USD is much more stable than the refs', it would cause less fluctuating in USD for buds and unusuals and the changing ref-key price wouldn't affect their price.

Metal is far from the suitable pricing method, the suitable would be a more stable currency. More details about how it should change prices above in my thread. Also, in my opinion key based bp pricing would stabilize the current key-ref madness.

Refined doesn't have a dollar value per-se; the only thing which makes it valuable at all is that you can find someone to trade you a key for it, and that you can sell that key for USD, or trade for a promo (buds) which you can also sell for USD.

The limited amount of people attempting to sell refined for USD directly should be of secondary importance to the real issue:

If the key average is USD$1.35, and the key-ref exchange rate average is currently at ~4 ref, refined should be priced at .33-.34, which is exactly how much USD you could get for it at the moment. It doesn't matter that there's more or less refined, or fewer keys, or people trying to sell it for $.xx directly, or anything else.

                                    Consider an item like a craft hat: 1.33 x 3 = 4 ref. 4 ref = 1 key. 1 key = $1.35. $1.35 / 3 = $0.45. $0.45 / 1.33 = $0.338, right at $0.33-$0.34.

How else would you price something like that?

                                      1.35$ / 4 (ref) = 0.3375$ Craft hat = 1.33*0.3375 = 0.448$

This would be the price of refs, if 1 key= 4ref, and key would be the main currency with 1.35$ Whats the difference? How would the key based system affect ref's price? It wouldn't at all, it would be the same. But with a much more stable currency. (ref fluctuate since november, key doesn't)

This price would updated automatically after every key suggestion (based on the key's USD price/with the current metal exchange rate), so we shouldn't need suggestions like this to do the balance for keys, buds, unusuals etc. Why should we keep an unstable currency, while it would be much more easier with key? You can see, bud is over 39$, while it should be 35-36$ or less based on paypal trades. After a few new key rising suggestion, we have to lower the metal's price again, or rise if it key-ref rate dropping.

With a key based system, key-ref suggestions wouldn't affect them at all, since it would based on the stable key price, and the ref would be lowered/rised in USD automatically. Not like now, when all the unusuals/bud/key are overpriced.

                                      ____________________________________________________

About my undervalued ref "theory", it is a totally different thing it has nothing to do with this suggestion, I guess we can't convince each other in this aruge. But if I'm right it will solve "itself" in the future, without any intervention. TF2finance shows between 4.03-4.08, it can be a good sign. If the admins could implement a real-time tf2finance based price, that would be far the best for it.

My point was that not everything on the price guide is priced in keys, so you have to either a) convert every item's price to keys or b) convert every item's price to ref. Right now, backpack.tf does b), and the only thing missing is updating this price automatically.

In the meantime, suggestions like this should go hand-in-hand with key-ref exchange price suggestions. In the future, perhaps Brad Pitt could implement it so that when say a 4.11-4.22 key price suggestion would get accepted, it would automatically update this item's price based on the keys USD value at the time.

I believe we're arguing the same point. You're calling it a key based system, and I'm suggesting to update ref's USD price based on key-ref exchange and key USD price. These would do exactly the same thing in the end.

(We really need a comment from Brad Pitt on this IMHO)

Well, yeah. It would be the same, but I personally would prefer the key method. :)

With this, the voting for ref/key price should be disabled too. (And I would prefer the remove of key suggestions too, as I said a real-time implemented tf2finance would be the best.)

One of the reasons why would I prefer the key (from the thread above):

"- There are a lot of annoying comments on the recent key-ref rising suggetions, when the OP has 300+ keys. Like "He only wants to rise his bp value!" "He only doing this for profit!" etc. It is getting really annoying, even for the ones who against the price rising. If keys would be the main currency for backpack pricing, their bp couldn't rise, only drops with these suggestions. So these arguments would be absolutely invalid. And if the suggesters really did this for "rise their bp", they would only lose with this."

I would prefer having a USD value for currency items, such as the earbuds, keys, bills and refined.

Ah man, this isn't fun lol. I don't like falling prices. Its gonna end up like Germany after the war...

Your proof is nothing more then proving current range is fine.

                                  Downvote.

I've seen some selling for even 40 cents so I'm staying neutral.

                                      Have they been sold?

Bought over 30 for 0.35$ ea. Upvote.

dude fuck you, do you have any idea how much us backpack value will fall down?
