Cant someone like post a suggestion that keys should go down by only a scrap? Where's the lower key prices?

The price of keys i ruining the economy. We all know this but some don't. Those who don't are those who 75% their backpack worth value in keys. They don't have hats worth 1.33 they have hats worth 1-100 keys. Their backpacks value is revolved around keys and the rest of peoples revolve around refined. The value of keys being 4 ref means that it takes almost 4 hats to make a key. So if the price of keys goes down then hats go up if we change the price of hats worth 1 key if the price is set to that when it was made. So then we can set the price of the team captain to 2.33 because that was the price of keys when it was set to a key. The biggest flaw in the economy is that you can predict buy an item like mantreads for 4 keys. Wait 2 months and sell at 6 keys almost 10 refined more if the price of keys continue to rise. i think set the price of keys to 3 ref. So you can make a hat because that's what some people do with refined or get a key for the soul purpose that it was made to get a strange or hat.

Most of the Traders left TF2, because of the instant weekly Price increases from the Keys. Also: It is "tf2op.com Community's" fault, that the Key prices increases every time. Like:

Outpost is the largest single part of the trading market. That's like saying "it's just a shame that the greed of America, Europe, and Asia dictates the real world economy now." My vote is no on the price raise. Most of these comments are buyers and trolls. I browsed some key trades and some don't even have metal in there bp or keys in there bp. No sign of them trading for one another. The key price is stupid high right now everyone is willing to buy a key for 3 to 4refs. Well, I got many keys at 4 ref the day before yesterday. That much that I thought about closing it and open a new one offering less. But then I had spent nearly my whole amount of metal.

Edit: That means I would have a huge profit if the price rised, but I downvote this suggestion because it is not true. Maybe there should be a wider range as I could sell some keys at 4.22 ref today and bought more than I actually expected at 4 ref, but the current key price is in range.

Like I said people are still willing to buy at 4refs but i seein alot of buyers recently trying to get them for 3refs to 4refs. No way keys should be voted up every week for price. They should stay at one price for awhile like any other item on the market. I have sold 131 Keys between 4 and 4.33 ref. Inflation was going to happen, besides, people are wiling to pay upwards of 4 ref for keys

Scrap.tf is selling keys at 4.22 (buying them for 4 ref).

This is my theory on the reason behind the rising prices of keys:

1. Demand is so high for keys that any posted trade at a fair price will get insta-added. Then, the next time the seller sells keys, they feel like they should raise the price a little because it was too fast.

2. The collection of sellers on OP are always trying to max their profits by raising prices instead of a simple exchange of metal and keys.

3. Although it does not cause the rise in price, backpack.tf does facilitate the rise in prices a little.

----a. Proof of maybe 10 trades out hundreds on OP can get accepted as a new price suggestion. The reality is that there are just some buyers who don't care about an extra scrap and also don't have the time to flip through pages and pages on OP to find the most reasonable price.

----b. Many people don't research all of the trades on OP and look on finance and stuff, so they go to pricing sites like these to see what keys are selling at.

----c. If you are willing to sell item X for 2 ref, but the suggested price on backpack.tf is at 3 ref, you will most definitely look to sell it at 3 ref to max your profits even though you were willing to sell it lower.

4. It's like the stock market. People realize that keys are going up in price, so people are rushing to get all of the keys that they can (for metal) to sell it higher (for metal) at a later time.

As an uncraftable collector, proof of 1 trade on the outpost is enough to dramatically change a price. See dirty Doctor's Sack. Or even one offer; see dirty Salty Dog.

Just because there is no new metal dosent mean that there was no trade completed, they could have opened tf2, also a new key doesnt mean they bought one, it could have ben item to currency trades or something.

Because there is no new metal, there aren't any proof, trades were really completed..

Also, mostly "new" metals if they open tf2 goes for the first page of inv (or any new item, to the first free space in the inv), not many people re-set them.

If yes, then maybe, but with the key sell/buy trades I wouldn't think so. "There is no proof for it.." And I think these are more accurate proofs, than link some random tf2op trade without even checking them..

Honestly, it's ridiculous that the only thing people focus on anymore in trading is keys. And the only people up voting the price of keys are the ones that hoard them and want to increase their backpack value. Keep raising key prices and you're going to alienate enough of the trade market that there will be very few buyers. Then what? Down-voted.

Agree, I am not hurt nor did i ever get scammed with key's so that's not the reason i push the down vote. I just find it stupid that keys will get to 10refs each for 1 key by summer the way the prices keep jumping up cause of these websites. There are pros and conns about the keys going up.

Pro 1

Mann Co makes more money cause people like me are taking a stand and saying fuck paying 5 to 10 refs for key in the near future. When it only cost 2.49 in the store. So the pro is we support Mann Co once again.

Theres a few con's as we all know but I wont list them all.

If the key's keep going up like this they will eventually reach 10refs a key and no one will ever buy 1 key for 10refs even the rich wont. So the key market and trade market will come to a halt for awhile.

Also another con is that all the new traders will flood every trade website and servers selling keys at 10refs. Spaming mics on servers bitchin they can't sell at 10refs and so on. No i don't see into the furture its just pure speculation on the con's.

So just leave the key price at 3 to 4refs we all think thats a decent price for them since they are popular.

This is not the time for this change. You have far too little proof for a massive item like this.

It's not only the high alerts, cuz there are high ballets for everytime and it doesn't change price. It's those people who invest in keys at 1 scrap higher then normal (4.22 now) and sell it in 4 days when it raises by a lot. I have lost hope that there is any way to 'stop the madness'. If keys raise, there's nothing we can do now. The train is full speed ahead. Denzel is not here to save us now!

LOL I just had the weirdest thought ever. Can you guys BELIEVE what would happen if Valve decided to release a crafting ability called "smelt refined"? THREE REFINED can be crafted into a key. The ENTIRE economy will crash, because expensive things like unusuals and festive stranges are listed in buds, which are listed in keys. This is random, but just give it a thought.

In addition, one guy added me right after that to buy a key for 4.33 ref. Earlier today, I sold 2 or 3 keys at 4.33 ref bumping that same trade.

On the other hand, In trade servers, I bought 5 or 6 keys for 4 flat so it's still fairly easy to get them for 4 keys.

Just go anywhere besides outpost, people are happy with selling them for 4 ref on backpack.tf and trading servers. Outpost is just too far out there.

People keep wanting more for their keys because on every PC keys are like this and typical outpost people charge more.

In my own opinion, this should be a prove or excuse in order to keep rising the price of key, I believe rising the key's price is only for your own benefit, your prove listed is just the users who sell high price and buy for low price, I'm sure the proves listed non of it is buying and selling for the same price. And also, the rise of key's price make most of other stuff to increase their price. This may affect a lot of players and will not afford to buy such high prices.

Really the only reason we have Key price increase, is because TF2 traders don't have the balls to not take highballs/lowballs. They just want what they want right when they want it, and they pay whatever the fuck they have to in order to get it.

The problem here isn't the value of a key.

It's all about the value of a ref.

The key is what everyone bases their prices on. We need to think in pure metal. It's the only constant unit in the economy. 2 weapons make a scrap, 3 scrap make a reclaimed, 3 reclaimed make a refined.

Refined is cumbersome in your back pack,you have too much, you want to change it to the next increment. You buy keys. People cash in on unofficially expanding peoples back packs.

Refined is loose change in your pocket, weighing you down. You change it into manageable notes.

I don't think we would have this problem if we have a fourth tier of craftable metal.

And I don't think implementing this would destroy the balance of the economy because it would still only be worth 3 refined.
