The prices of these are plummeting, and i do not see why. They are from a retired salvaged crate and are only worth 3.25 keys?! come on, people.

they aren't THAT common.

It clearly cannot be about the frequency of finding them, as Bill's hats and Earbuds are more common than these.

the prices are this low because people don't want to pay any more. Bill's hat is one of the most common hats in game, doesn't mean its worth nearly nothing

I bought mine when they were 3.5-4 keys, and i do not understand why they are plummeting. if no one wants to pay for them, then less people will buy them, meaning they are rarer amongst many players, upping the price, ect.

They are crashing because the hype of the crate getting retired has worn off and the demand for them has gone down. Pretty much anyone that actually wanted one for personal use has already bought one and now hoarders are stuck with them and are willing to sell for less just to get rid of it.

if no one wants to buy them, that means sellers will have to lower their price. And you need to understand that rarity doesn't have much effect on the price. A bills hat is about 20 times more common than most uncraftable hat

true, but to those fans of the widowmaker, the price should at least go up for traders.

But no one wants to even buy for the current price, why would sellers think they can get more? I can buy 3 this instant at the lower range. If i put a trade up on outpost buying for 3, i'd probly get 20 in a day. Sellers are getting desperate to sell these, as no one want to buy, everyone who wanted one, already bought them when they went down to like 2 keys

Its because thats what people are successfully selling them for. Backpack.tf isn't some evil corporation that controls the TF2 market, all we do here is show what people are currently buying and selling the items for.

Logic sadly does not apply here, only an accurate representation of the current market does.

the thing is, it DOES control the TF2 market, because the TF2 community follow this site like it's the word of the bible or something.

if the price on here changes, everyone will buy at that price, and sell at that price.

But the price is based on the current price the item sells at. This site doesn't randomly make a price based on what they want, it just displays the current price an item is sold at, usually on outpost

however, if it did pick a price based on what they want, everyone would automatically think: THAT IS THE PRICE THAT THE LORD GABEN HAS SET.

every trader would have a hard time selling at the real price, and everyone would be selling and buying at that new price.

I know people follow the prices on here religiously, but my point is that we cannot just make up prices based on what we think is right. We need to show what the entire market is currently and successfully buying and selling for, and 4-5 keys is for sure not it. Not many people are even trying for that.

2. I own this because I like the weapon genuinely. I would not manipulate this price, as I don't really need to; im done with trading.

I just see this price going down, whilst Strange sappers, strange huntsman's are going up, and wonder why they are, as they are all from the same crate, and imo, the widowmaker is a better weapon than the sapper.

Exactly my problem. This website is not related to one opinion. It is related to the general opinion of the entire TF2 community (or atleast the part that uses this site). Also, this site is used to reference, as mentioned before. It shouldn't be used for "I think that". There are forums all across the world for people who "think that".
