This has been suggested like 3 times already, and so far none of them seem to be a success, I don't know why people keep trying to raise the price, as if it's not already far too expensive. I've already seen someone provide counter-evidence anyways.

Face it. oculus has totally ripped this key suggestion apart.

You should be paying attention to the links he is posting. Only 4 of the links supports your suggestion, and oculus is known for being accurate about his links. Only those 4 links agree with your theory, and only 4 keys total were sold from them.

No, but seeing as oculus nullified almost all of the evidence, my counter-proof outweighs the proof. Long is the one making the suggestion not me, which means he has to provide sufficient proof to do so, I don't need hundreds of counter-proof if he can't even provide sufficient proof. That is like saying I could put up a suggestion to set the price of a new item at 12 buds and don't need any proof as long as there isn't 100 counter proof links then I'm right.

I have given up fighting it. I myself buy keys at the higher end because I don't have the goddamn time to save 1 or 2 scrap per key. Proof is good and counter proof will not be provided because there is none.

Sidenote: TF2 trading will slow as new traders find it harder and harder to get their first key, thus giving up and moving on from trading.

I started on my alt and it was truly truly hard to get into trading. If a new trader go in without any money or keys, it is pretty much impossible to earn profit fast because scrap banking is just terrible.

I had 10 keys and another 10 keys woifi loan to me and it still take a 4-5 days for my bp to reach 1 buds value. after that, the road is easier but still rough.

this is a huge joke. the last change was only 5 days ago. the one before that 7 days and 11 for the last. the price is never going to be stable if people keep this crap up

There is a high demand for Keys and a somewhat-okay supply.

If the demand goes down and the sellers can't get their Keys away, they must drop the price to sell again.

See i WOULD stop buying keys, but the problem is you require for alot of goodies over aproximately 4 refined, such as buds, bills, salvaged stranges (such as the PDA) and things like that. I dont know too many people who would accept pure metal instead of keys for those things

Every time the keys go up by 1 scrap, they go up in value 4 cents.

At this point, long's key worth (at this point) goes up around 25 dollars.

Though good luck selling keys on sourceOP at this price because they don't take backpack.tf seriously (for a reason).

Backpack.tf has turned into the biggest weapon those high-balling, big-time traders use against us. Force these outrageous key prices on us, and we buy it? Seriously, people; open your eyes and see that the view upon keys have ALWAYS been the same. Before the 2012 Halloween update, people were paying 2.44 - 2.66 for keys. 2.44 was buyer price, 2.66 was seller price. We all want the extra few scraps, and the "evidence" shown only proves my point further. The prices on keys will continue to rise until (if not already) ridiculous amounts. Just my view on the whole situation.

There is no problem with an experienced key trader suggesting prices. This is where people check. People here check elsewhere for proof. If the keys aren't moving (which can happen), then the price will slow down and this will stabilize or stop.

Blame the key buyers, not sellers, for inflation.

So I guess, in a way, you're right - it's not based on proof because it is the raw proof itself.

Do you have any idea how easy it is to manipulate the price while avoiding the alt-account checker when you have 20 alts? It's easy. Just spread the key trades over your alts, and you won't be detected. There will still be many extra trades for high prices happening, so finance goes up.

Here's what I posted in the other key suggestion that's currently up:

I have no problem with keys rising. however if they are going to rise then we need to be bothered to put the work in to correct item price along with it. Take my unusual for example. it was worth 40 keys when they were 2.66. and its still worth 40 keys now.

That's coming up to nearly a 50% price increase and nothing as happened to reduce it.

Ok yes unusual's can only be unboxed using keys. but its not just that, take some normal items. all-farther / last breath / kringle. they have been around 2 keys each for some time now.

If the majority of people here do not think a price rise is in order, then please respect that. The current demand for keys is pathetic; organic buyers have completely shied away from the market. The only people buying these overpriced keys are people looking to entrench themselves in the inflation. They do not care about overpaying since they know that, in a week's time, their overpay will become underpay. Mannconomy's certainly in the shitter. I've just been saving up my weapon drops to buy cheap hats, and buying keys with real-world currency (via the Marketplace) if I ever want something "expensive." It just isn't worth the effort to actually "trade your way up" anymore.

If you ask me, we'd be much better off it people didn't have a place like bp.tf to tell them exactly what price they should sell their keys at. Without it, key value would return to being common knowledge, their value being more or less fixed and far more difficult to change. Problem with bp.tf is that it provides the means to quickly and easily change what the majority believes an item should sell at, and what the majority believes is what goes. This site should have never offered prices on currency items.

well there are still existing some 4.22 buyers that got a few keys but there is an overwhelming amount of 4.33 buyer trades.

I noticed.

If you're going to remove 4.22 ref from the range, you need to prove that it's very difficult to get at that price. With so many buyers at 4.33, it brings up the question "Why would sellers sell lower when they can get more much easier?"

By the way, I'm tired of seeing so many over-dramatic people in the comments saying stuff like "TF2 trading is dead" and "eff this I'm out." It's funny and sad at the same time.

second, all the links I posted are all sold a few, not just basing on price. If you want I can find a few trades at 5ref+ or 1 key for 2 keys.

Outpost is split up into 2 types of people. People who try and buy keys for Less than backpack.tf. And people who try and sell keys for more than backpack.tf. obliviously, the people who try and sell the keys for more are gunna win because it's there key, they can sell it for what they like. People can't buy stuff for what they like can they?? So People only sell the keys for more than backpack. So people have to buy! if not... they buy from the market. making the problem even worse...

well the buyers have more than one way to earn key through metal, they don't have to buy key directly.

Some of the ways to do it:

Name&Desc tag. Cost 3.66, sell for 1 key fairly easy

TOD tickets. 2 cost 4 ref, sell for 1 key very fast

Pink/Lime. cost 4 ref(bit of patience), sell for 1 key fast

3 craft hats. 4 ref. sell for 1 key

People only buy the key at the listed price because No one else will sell it for less. It's there item. so they can sell it for what they like. like i said. people can't buy items for what they like, can they?

in order for key to reach store price in metal(price of metal in $ currently which is 35 cents) then it will cost you at least 7.11 ref if not more especially when metal just gonna decrease in $ value.

i really dobt think that valve will rise the keys to 4 euro because ther ref is droping in price the only thing valve can do to ballance that is to put ref in the market...until then ref will continiues to drop

RIght. So... The more keys rise in ref. The harder it is for the new beginners to Get started. I mean, when i started TF 2. (back when keys were 2.33) it took me about around 2-3 weeks, just to get a ref!. I feel sorry for the people who start now! Anyway, they are Gunna look for ways to make Profit, the fastest way. Thus, More idling... More idling = More Promo items Like X-mas/salvage crates...ect. while the items Drop in price. Keys rise?? People only buy items of Outpost for a rec less, Or sell items for a rec more to make "PROFIT". But backpack.tf sees this as Evidence...? And now you see this is why spreedsheet was better. Its not just Backpack.tfs fault. It's consisted of three things...

1) Idling

2)Backpack.TF taking Profit as evidence on outpost

3)The Market

and while the people with 400+ keys who suggest key rises Dont help. It's not all there fault.

Many still buying with plenty of metal available, many on autobump or recently manually bumped. And they can't be above range, otherwise they'd have been swarmed and fully out of metal, as is the case of his buyer links for over 4.44 ref. Even at 4.44, it's a slow but steady buy. Meanwhile, the sheer numbers at 4.33 indicate that people don't need to be selling for less, so it should indeed be at low range.

And while, people are sick of hearing it, tf2finance supports this range as well. This indicates that this well matches trade server activity.
