Key inflation will stop at the point when a man can turn a profit by selling keys for metal, then sell the metal, then buy Mann Co store keys. Given the current price of refined, 7.11 ref seems to be the ceiling.

But of course by then, refined will have gotten cheaper.

There are many sensible people who will upvote for the proof, and know that key prices ARE rising. Yet, I doubt this will pass, for the majority just wants to stop key inflation no matter how much they know it's rising. :\

and even then, key price in dollar will stay at $1.3 while metal $ value keep getting lower and lower and so there won't be a point where it is profitable to buy from the store.

I think people are looking at this all wrong.

Keys are NOT inflating - in fact the values of items based on the key, namely buds and bills among other things, have remained totally unphased by the fact that keys are now nearly double what they used to. If the value of a key was INCREASING, then items based on the key would decrease to compensate.

What's really happening is the value of METAL is going down - keys have resell value via the marketplace - metal does not. It's a simple problem with a complex solution. People don't want to invest in metal because they are afraid it's value can (and will/already has) go down.

Ask yourself, what would you rather have? 4.66 ref or 1 key? On one hand, 4.66 is a lot of metal, on the other the key has more buying power and can reliably be resold for almost $2 via the steam marketplace.

People need to stop looking at this as an inflation problem, and look at it as a deflation problem. Keys aren't worth much more than they used to be, but everything that doesn't have intrinsic resell value is now worth less.

Furthermore, there seems to be a bit of a problem with gathering ALL of your evidence from OP, considering that website is highball/lowball central - it's where people go to either buy fast, sell fast or post items for long periods of time, and the entire economy of TF2 cannot be equated to this one website. It doesn't always accurately represent TF2's economy all the time with 100% accuracy, and it's trends fluctuate rapidly with every twitch of the economy. If you argue the keys are worth 4.55, people will start buying for 4.33 and selling for 4.66, and then someone will say keys are worth 4.66 and people will start selling on OP for 4.77.

Not going to say the above evidence isn't valid, but I do believe this is way too hasty. As long as keys are <$2.50, keys can still be reliably obtained for ~4.11 ref. Just because OP isn't willing to yield it's keys for decent prices doesn't mean all of TF2 won't either.
