I was unable to sell one for 8 keys and ended up selling to someone for 7. Hard item to sell, barely any demand.

While your proof is good, there was not one 8 key buyer nor successful key seller?

It took me 1 min to find someone offering a bills + 1 key: http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/9934533

And another one: http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/9941901 - conservatively 8.5 keys

I'm sure there are many more

The 1st link hasn't sold, it's still in the seller's inventory.

I am aware. Because he didn't want a bills + 1 key. He just wanted 9 keys. If you ask me, that's just dumb. Bills are very easy to sell for 8 keys

          Hm yeah you're right.

      Those are quick buyers.

No matter what people buy for, the selling price also counts, none of the sellers have successfully sold for 9 keys whereas buyers are easily buying for 7 keys. If they were truly quickbuyers they wouldn't get that many adds.

True on that. I was buying these for 9 and selling for 11 before I got hit on the price drop.

        http://puu.sh/2yH2H - Sold for 9 keys

most of those unsold trades aren't that old, especially for such an expensive item.

7 keys flat is a meh ,, a range could be better

I agree. Range is a better choise.

I don't think the adds were specifically for 7 keys. The trades are quite old. And possibly changes in the number of keys paying were changed. I didn't see a specific add at 7 keys. However, I did come across a guy in my thread that was selling for 7. And he later sold for 6.

http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/9933240 - offered 7 keys on my trade.

            http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/9999878 - sold for 6 to Koga

I think 7 would be a better price but as we can tell there is a low demand in selling and not many people willing to buy them.

you guys are killing the value of my gen collection......

guess it makes filling the gaps cheaper.

Price drop is too low. Downvote.

So when the clean scarf dropped from 2.5 buds to about 5 keys is wasn't too low?

                  Same with the ball-kicking boots.

The suggestion can never be too low, the demand affects the price and there is a very low demand.

You really want me to list why I downvoted because it extends further than that. Quicksell buyers often lower prices. Notice how all the offers to add focus on 2 weeks ago and pretty much one after the other for all four in link 1 of buyers. That idiot probably failed to monitor the market and then when he started getting multiple sellers he realized that his buying price was too high in order to easily resell for profit and drastically lowered it in an effort to recoup any possible offers from buying them for higher. Contrary to popular belief their prices are not firm and are subject to change.

Whether or not they're quickbuyers, they're getting plenty of adds and nobody is buying for 9, they can't even sell for 8. I tried to sell my scarf for 8 for a few days and no interest at all. 7 keys would be a fair price for this.

You completely missed my point that those supposed sales are invalid because they most likely stem from wanting to sell for a higher price not actually consenting to sell for 7 keys. The fact that you sold yours for 3 keys below current suggested price when others are paying more is not the community's problem. Of course every trade you see selling one on tf2outpost is going to be unsold since the people who have sold have closed their trades therefore saying that no one is buying is an invalid statement since you cannot view all the sold trades on outpost.

I buy quicksells. I buy them to sell for profit. My buying price and others like me shouldnt be the price of the item. Because we do sell it for a higher price.

Eh. Don't entirely agree with this. "Quickbuyers" is just a label. If lots of people are successfully buying at 7 keys, even if they are called quickbuyers, that should be factored into the price. The reason they are not usually included in the price is that they rarely find a buyer willing to pay their low prices.

Look at my trades. I find alot of sellers. Its not rare. Just most people dont comment

And when quickbuyers are being very successful, that's usually an indication that the price needs to go down.

                                > Quicksell buyers are used as proof

                                > Price update

                                > Quicksell buyers lower buying price

                                > Quicksell buyers are used as proof

                                > Price update

                                > Quicksell buyers lower buying price

Continue until everything is worth a scrap.

You seem to misunderstand what I am saying. I am merely saying that people throw the term "quicksell buyer" out without truly understanding what that means. Say the scarf is worth 9 keys. If there are 10 buyers at 8 keys and ALL have 10 adds in the last 3 days. Those are NOT quickbuyers. 8 keys should be included in the price. If there are 10 buyers at 7 keys and they have 1 add at 7 in the last 3 days, that is a true "quickbuyer" and that price should not be included. I was merely responding to "My buying price and others like me shouldnt be the price of the item. Because we do sell it for a higher price." If he gets 10 adds for 7 keys and sells for 8 keys within a day, his buying price SHOULD be included and t should be 7-8 regardless of whether or not he considers himself a quickbuyer.

But what if only the quicksell buyers are actually buying, and hardly anyone buying at the current set price?

Quicksells are supposed to be exceptions, when they become the norm, they are no longer an exception.

No it should not. Back when white paint went on sale in ~November (keys were at ~2.66-2.77 refined) I and others like me were able to buy 10s and 10s of white paint for 4 refined or lower in order to resell it between 4.66-5.33 refined. I remember buying 12 in an hour once, yet the price on backpack.tf was still at 4.66-5 refined and there was evidence out there that it should raise. It took posting my own sales for buying at 4 refined in order to lower the price to 4.33-5 refined since I was still getting so much action yet the price would not have lowered to 4 refined flat since it is obvious that plenty were eagerly willing to buy for that amount for easy resale. That is why this suggestion should not be accepted since people are actively pursuing multiple copies of this item for resale.

Resell at which price? Show me resellers that have managed to buy at 7-8 keys and then resell at 9. or even, at 8.

The difference being that there are a lot more white paints than genuine merc pride scarfs. Multiply the numbers I used in my example by 20. If you were buying hundreds at that, then it certainly should be included in the value. The point is that the value should be based on the most consistently traded price, regardless of whether it is bought or sold. And sometimes a range is required to accurately reflect that.

Maybe if it were 8 keys, but I can't find a single seller at 8 keys either in classifieds, tf2outpost or bazaar.tf, they're all 9 or over. None of them have managed to sell as well.

Will have to check buyers. But at least it can be said that 9 keys is too high

Addendum: I've noticed that many buying at 7 or lower are explicitly quickbuying/buying quicksells. So 7 keys might be at most the lower end of the range. Proof is still not conclusive

Perhaps closing and re-opening at 7-8 would be better

Nope. Quickbuyers price shouldnt be considered

The problem is determining if it is indeed quickbuying when it is becoming the commonly accepted price.

                              wait

i swear i am totally behind everything..

wasn't this like 16 keys a few weeks ago?

Yeah, the demand has dropped harder than a brick and the price fell with it

true story, looks pretty damn ugly too (not really the right sizing)

I wonder if the Merc's Muffler has anything to do with this thing's demand dropping. Another all-class scarf that is much cheaper and looks just as good, if not better than Merc's Pride.

                                      no, looks much better

it doesn't look absolutely tiny on you, either

Personally, I prefer the muffler because people can actually see it whereas the pride scarf is too small to see.

Too big of a drop..and you only showed 9 key sellers and no 8 ones.

                                  link 2 sold for a white bills - 1 key -- 9 keys, more proof of 7 keys offers/sold?

                                    First link sold

Link 2 had an offer of 9 keys 2 days ago

Link 5 had an offer of s sapper

Most of your seller links are VERY new; G items are not fast sellers, and the more expensive something is the longer it takes to sell.

All your buyer links are quickbuyers; the entire point of quickbuying is to sell for a profit, so they are rare good evidence for a decrease.
