why are they dropping like hell...
Here's my theory (pulled straight from my "State of Mannconomy - April 2013"):
"With every "effect" there must be a "cause," so what caused the prices of so many items that have key values to drop? My theory can be summed up in one word:
Earbuds.
Yep, that's right. Earbuds dropping is the reason why so many other things are dropping.
I know what you're probably thinking right now - "Hey, wait a minute, that doesn't make any sense. How can Earbuds dropping be the reason why everything else is dropping?"
There's a bit of a backstory behind it - About one year ago, Earbuds took a big hit to its price, dropping as low as 19 keys. The most likely cause for this was new items being introduced for the summer and there was also the Summer Cooler Crate, so people were more interested in the newer items than they were in Buds, so people were having a difficult time trying to get Buds off their hands at the then-current price. As a result, people sold for cheaper just to get their Buds sold while the buying party probably thought they got a good deal.
Fast-forward to the present, people are anticipating a drop like last year - and it has happend already. Just a few weeks ago, Buds were nearly 28 keys, but now they are hovering around 22 keys. People are expecting Buds to drop even further, so people are holding onto their keys in anticipation for the drop that may-or-may not happen so they can swoop in to take cheap buds and wait for the Buds to go back up.
Because of this anticipation, people are trying to get keys as soon as possible by selling items with key values at cheaper to make sure they aren't late to the Bud dropping party, but the problem is - people aren't as willing to part with keys as they were a few weeks ago, so "quickselling" has turned into "selling."
Thus, the reason why everything is dropping is because of Buds dropping, the anticipation that they will drop even more, and the lack of people willing to part ways with their keys."
tl;dr - People are waiting for buds to drop more, so they are more reluctant to buy anything else with keys.
It is an expensive and niche item. Unsold price suggestions and quicksell prices are not proof of a price drop, sales are. Post actual proof.
Upvote, solid proof.
dear god another price drop? whats with you people and wanting to drop a EXPENSIVE item that will normally take more than a week to sell becouse it hasnt been sold withing 2-3 days?
Lol, you own one.
yeah i own one i admit. I payed 40 keys for it when it was worth 40 i admit. I dont mind the price dropping but not when its almost daily after no rpoblems whatsoever and when people dont actually give other people time to sell them. I lost my keys and i dont care to be honest. What i care bout is the fact that its almost a daily routine for people to drop high priced stuff till it suits them
Look at the proof and tell me why it shouldn't drop.
i see proof that they havent been sold but should we always go by 3 day proof? i see unusuals that havent been sold for WEEKS should they drop? no. same princable for the fact that expensive items take time to sell. Deal with it
What unusuals haven't been sold for weeks and should drop?
http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/3602487 5 months, http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/7015748 4 months, http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/9425895 1 month, http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/9230957 1 month
unusuals that havent been sold in months.
Now tell me why their bp.tf price should drop.
For the same reason for why the gunslinger is dropping. they havent been sold so they must be dropped right? thats the logic here. This guy found prrof for a 3 day old trade. i found proof for trades that are MONTHS old and havent had their prices drop. The exact same princible here.
I completely agree with you. That's a fact that i'm pointing since many days here:Quicksuggestions. They don't even let the market stabilize, and here come a new price. This really influence the market, and it's not the aim of backpack. Those items are dropping, so it doesn't bother people. But What if we apply the same thing on keys (increasing the price everday, and not giving the opportunity to buy at cheaper prices)? I'm pretty sure that you would downvote those suggestion.
Btw, i opened a topic on this subject: http://forums.backpack.tf/index.php?/topic/1066-suggestion-frequency/. I invite everybody to post and discuss, no matter what is your opinion.

Like the other posters in the previous 4 s. gunslinger price suggestion threads this week, not enough proof of sales at this price. Unsold threads and quicksale links are not worthy of a vote for an item at this price. The previous price vote was from a guy who couldnt sell one in 6 hours so he dropped his price 4 keys. ??? Also like I said in the previous four s. gunslinger price suggestion threads, use a week as a reference and use more than outpost. No strange gunslingers are available on sourceop or reddit trade.
Prices don't matter - sales do. Show me sales.
You are the one that made the price drop suggestion with no proof. People obviously aren't asking for anything near your range. Did u even post a single sale?
