Suggestion: Mann Co. Supply Crate Key at 5–5.22 ref

I like how Long is just constantly updating this. With all of the proof that's currently here and is still being gathered you could almost think he has nothing else to do with his life other than just stare at Outpost trades and be dedicated to the price of pixels.

I want to say this again. Long has been responsible for the decrease in price of around 50 items, normally priced in keys, in the last three weeks.

Doesn't that help the dislike? He raises key prices then decreases others. Kind of not helping the fire here. xD

U missed it. He may be doing price jump in keys but has had many suggestions accepted that dropped the price. 50 were items priced in keys. It definitely helps. The point is that while the key trade price is higher, it also buys more than it used to.

Why do you have proof of 5.33 if you're not setting that in your range?

The only reason these are being accepted is everyone's blind guidance to backpack.tf. Doesn't matter about the quantity, it's the demand. When you say the price is 5 ref, people will sell at 5.11 ref to make profit. People will buy those keys at 5.11 ref because they either need them, or they are going to hold onto them for the keys to raise even more and sell them for an even higher price. This is a cycle which will never end at the rate it is going.

For those of you that say "set it to 10 and be done". Of course that will never happen, but if it did:

Do you really think it would stop there? People would still try to make profit off of that. People will sell for 10.11 refined, oh we have to update the price again.. it doesn't really end.

And for all of you guys bitching at Long, it's not his fault for this happening. He's trying to update as he see fits, which is all the time for all the greedy TF2 traders who 'need', and i use that term loosely, to sell keys.

So what's a solution to this? I suggest NOT suggesting new prices IMO. If anyone else has better idea pl0x tell me.

Outpost traders don't just blindly follow backpack. As time goes on, more people buy at their price, so they raise their price. Even if backpack froze key prices, the actual key price would go up, making backpack inaccurate.

Although I don't have a better solution for you. Valve may be working on introducing a use for metal. Anything to keep the economy running helps them.

Pretty much every trader on there uses either backpack.tf or traderempire (spreadsheet) especially for keys. (But shh, don't tell anyone. traderempire.. uses... backpack.tf's prices. o no!) And if they don't, why are they selling at or around the price range of keys on both sites? Damn, if anyone were to sell keys at a different price besides higher than what it is (yes, that means lower) they would be swarmed instantly, yes? After learning that, they'd try to sell higher so they are again, at or around the price range of the two major spreadsheets? So you kind of pick on from other people and how fast or slow people respond to you without using the spreadsheets and that still leads us to the same rising price. So, ehh, okay not all traders follow backpack.

But on to your next point, the actual price of the key would go up. Yes... but why is it going up daily compared to the price turtling before? I'm willing to bet that keys are not increasing value at +-3 cents daily.. that just doesn't seem logical.. the only STOP sign we'll see is when buying keys via paypal will be the same price as buying them in the Steam Community Market.

Keys by paypal will always be cheaper than through in game store, as why would you risk trading with a stranger in situations where you can be scammed instead of buying it from the game where the chance of being scammed is next to none?

Even there keys have grown close to the same price as the in game shop. It used to be that I could get 10-20 keys for $2.11-$2.20. Now they start at $2.45

I think most people would just prefer to buy through steam community market rather than paypal when it comes down to it, assuming both are the same price.

i seem to remember a week where the range was left at 4.66-4.77 or somesuch and guess what happened? keys hit 5 ref and people were starting to see success selling for even more. you wanna freeze prices, they mostly become outdated. the more obviously outdated prices backpack.tf has, the less likely people will use it - it is built around reporting an accurate market price, after all.

This is EXACTLY what I've wanted to say for a while. People will ALWAYS make a profit, but it doesn't mean that the BASE price should be raised. Let people make their profit, cause, well, they do. But, I think you're right. We should stop suggesting new prices for keys, get rid of the idiots trying to raise the base price, and stop buying keys for such a high price. Then, the keys would slowly lower in price because of the general lack of people settling and buying keys for such a high price. We'll be back to where we were, or at least down to 3.66.

tl;dr Stop suggesting new prices for keys, let the economy handle itself, and the prices of keys will slowly start to go down. Laissez-faire economy (for keys, at least).

Not 100% sure of the situation, but for the carded keys, aren't they still unsure if he really knew whether they were carded or not? As if he did, he should've already been marked, from what i know, there was a lack of proof to justify both sides, which is why they put only a caution.

He was trade banned and it did show for the first few weeks but again some favours were granted, all complaints against Long were archived instead of acted upon; probable reason long Friday night and too tired, and boom the trade ban was removed from steam rep; I don't know how much it costed, in $$$, Long to get it done though.

Also while it showed trade banned on steam rep he was banned from outpost, fair admins of outpost, but again clever admins of backpack.tf didn't ban him. So you dare not try to cover up for backpack.tf admins or Long.

How does making suggestions about key prices in ref get somebody banned? It's not like he is trolling, although it may be getting repetitive. He does have some proof backing up his suggestion. I don't really see a problem.

its going the right way, where the price cant even stay for 3 hours before someone feel the need to change it.

but what makes me sad is that people are so insanely greedy. for keys, the sellers that always have keys will look at bp.tf price, add another rec to it and sometimes sell some keys. its not much, but its enough to be used as proof. people that just need metal fast they sell it fast at highest range because noone else sells keys but the greedy ones.

but when the greedy traders trades are being used as proof. the suggestion gets passed, and then it begins once again, they add a rec to the new price creating this infinite loop.

First, that first link is a joke Long made because people were treating him like shit (like they always do).

Those second links are all pretty meaningless. Wow, people upvote suggestions to lower the price of keys even without much proof?? I'm so surprised! /sarcasm

Also, of course people always downvote the price rise of keys. Keys are rising but no one wants them to, so they just downvote it because they don't want it to be true. The admins do their job and show that people are buying keys at higher and higher prices each day. Your last three links are also strange, since Long was talking about Hatch making suggestions right after his old ones were suggested, not other suggestions by other people. Seriously, you take so much shit out of context and use it just so you can basically say "fuck you, Long". That's just wrong.

The third links shows an album of when Long218, less than one week after publicly humiliating another suggester decided to make a suggestion 4 hours after the previous one had been accepted. Notice all the likes that his comments had on those comments of Long218's calling out Hatch Rawer Beryl for posting his suggestion too early, yet he goes against all the people that supported him along with the own thoughts that he listed in those comments. Therefore Long218 is nothing, but a lowly, hollow shell that seems to find his only solace in finding emotions from others. It appears positive emotions just were not cutting it for him, so he takes every chance he gets since that time to post a key suggestion raising the value. Unless Long218 truly believes that he is superior from others, above the law, and has an intellect far exceeding others. Regardless the point of the third link is to detail the hypocrisy that is Long218, and how he not only went against supporters of his words, but also himself which is by far the worst to not stay true to one's convictions.

The reason I say all this is because I made the third link, albeit rather rushed in order to prove a point in time, but regardless one that clearly demonstrates a clear state of apathy instilled in Long218 towards the Team Fortress 2 community. That's rather sad if you actually still believe Long218's motive is to simply help the community. In no way do I view Long218 as a saint in any aspect outside key suggestions. His first ban on backpack.tf occurred from him making a suggestion on an alt account while intoxicated. His second ban on backpack.tf came from his apathy and slander towards other community members on a key suggestion where the first image in this original comment thread originates from. He was trade restricted (Long218 is very sensitive about calling it a ban because nowhere on his profile does it say he is trade banned) after a screenshot circulated that he had knowingly purchased carded keys in order to simply profit from doing so. I feel no sympathy towards him nor do I regard this emotion with any absurdity or ridiculousness. Maybe you should get your facts straight before believing this man is just some saint who seems to be the only one with the balls on backpack.tf to raise key prices. then key prices would be highly inaccurate and the trading community wouldn't respect bp.tf, and another price reporter would have taken it's place by now, leaving this site to wither and die. most of the votes on key suggestions are in no way representative of the legitimacy / accuracy of the proof but rather what the voter wishes key/ref prices to be. bp.tf doesn't set prices, it reports them.

Yeesh. At least Vincent was decent enough to give a pretty thorough post after accepting the last price, but damn it just keeps on going.

Okay, he has had those keys for over a month now, and i doubt he can trade them (Apparently trade restricted). Any ways, that's not his opinion. No one's opinion is valid here. He has proof. Anyways, the vote isn't actually considered on key suggestion, as some votes are biased. People have openly said that they will downvote key suggestions regardless of whether there is enough proof or not. Which just made the admins devalue the votes even more. No one provided any significant counterproof, which explains why they were accepted.

This is just my opinon but I think they should just make it so no one can vote or suggest a price on keys.

But then it would be inaccurate would it not? Unless the key prices were hooked up to tf2finance. But that would cause even more chaos as some people don't approve of the use of finance. So this is actually one of the only options. Anyways, if there is no price, there is a bigger chance of newbies getting scammed of their keys

Keys are really not accurate to begin with a lot of price change suggestions going on and i get that this is one of the only ways of getting the price but they change it to often. It could go up to 5.33 ref now but in a week or so it could be 6 ref and like i said its just my opinon so I wouldnt expect them to actually do it
