Creating an alternate suggestion to reflect a more accurate price.

Much of this proof belongs to ⊱ buddhapest ⊰ - he has done a lot of work researching this price, and I want to make sure he gets credit where credit is due.

Buyers supporting low range:

http://www.tf2outpost.com/search/107339589 - 4 ref

http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/4922646 - 4 ref

http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/9753975 - 4 ref

http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/10705652 - 2 purple paint, ~4 ref

Sellers supporting high range:

http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/10643221 - success at 4.66

http://tf2tp.com/trade.php?trade=9413422 - success at 4.33

http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/10502456 - Asking for 4.66, two adds

http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/10379528 - 4.66 offer, 1 key offer

http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/10559281 - Asking for a key, one add

http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/10693941 - success at 4 ref

Key sales are kinda outliers, as there are a crap-ton of sellers and very little success. Here some examples that are unsuccessful at selling for a key:

http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/9478032: Paint Shop Trade. Selling for a key, only one person has ever made an offer in items

http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/10708925 - Selling for 5 refined (only 5 hours old, so an excellent one to watch)

http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/10440529 - 33 in stock, trade up for a week with no bookmarks or comments

http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/8685435 - Selling for a key, no offers in over 3 weeks

http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/6744656 - Selling for a key, no offers in a month

    Looking good to me ...

i was kind of hoping to do another suggestion with this range if mine didn't pass :/

i want to point out that in my suggestion i did research on the backpacks using the history feature:

the 33 stock trade: http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/10440529 had 29 a week ago, 28 2 days ago, and 27 today. no painted items. this trader had sales

http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/9478032 massive paint seller (has 2 in backpack now, but is moving them. had 2 on may 1st, 1 on may 4th) obviously restocked - this trader had sales

how come you didn't include these selling for a key:

http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/10379528 turned down 4.66 refined, has an add, had 5 in backpack on may 4th, restocked with 3 on the 7th (if you look at backpack.tf history, there are 3 *new* waterlogged that day with only 3 in bp itself)

http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/10116233 3 week old trade but had 10 on 4-22, now has 9 (not enough history in backpack.tf to see if anything else happened between then and now) - this trader probably had sells

http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/10334475 added 2 weeks ago for key (had 9 paints on the 6th, now has 6) - this trader definitely had sells

      all that work... sigh...

(imho, my suggestion has more support for 1 key/5 ref price than any other price - it's just the size of the bump that's scaring people off)

http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/10708925 - andy said (on my suggestion) he sold one for 5 ref a week ago.

remember this is all while the bp.tf price sat at 3.33-4 ref and the paint itself is rarely used.

I think the point Andy was making was quite different. He is a big time seller with autobump and he has ONLY sold 1 in 2 weeks of selling. I think his comment was 5 ref was too high.

Andy, if you read this, correct me if I'm wrong.

yes, that's how i read it too. don't you think gigazelle's making it look like there's no sales there? my point is that he was able to sell this paint for 5 ref (as were others) even while bp.tf price was 3.33-4.

i agree that this is the safer range, just wish i had had the chance to resubmit without all my proof getting selectively grabbed up like that.

Well, sometimes making a direct request to the person will work better. Instead of saying, "i was kind of hoping to do another suggestion with this range if mine didn't pass," say "I think I was off on my range. Would you mind closing this so I can resuggest."

screw it - it was a mistake to spend all that time coming up with the proof - i should have just played tf2 instead. this whole site is a frustration trapped time sink for anyone wanting to get involved. lessons learned.
