Well time to get hated, here we go!
Price is outdated , here's why.
Only going to give you buyers because $h1t man , why would someone sell for 5 when they can sell for 5.11 or 5.22 - and before you argue that they wont find the 5.11/5.22 trade , I'm going to counter-argue that there is just too many 5.11/5.22 trades to ignore.

people still sell for 5 because they are against selling for higher maybe?
that is why you should prove people failing to buy for 5 ref.
They can buy it for 5 , it's gonna gonna be resold for 5.11/.22/.33 or even .44
so if it can be sold for 5 ref, shouldnt it be in range? I usually buy them at 5 ref (i dont resell keys thought)
So , let me guess this straight , Hypothetical situation - you're selling a key , you would see three trades :
A)Key's being bought for 5ref
B)Key's being bought for 5.11
C)Key's being bought for 5.22
And you would take Option A?
Huh.
well i prefer selling at 5 ref actually, i don't want to face the consequences of keys getting to expensive (all hats will be worth less, stranges go up in refined, etc. etc.)
I would sell for 5 ref. I do. Because the huge inflation on keys is getting way out of hand. And its all because greedy people hoard like a huge amount of keys then bump up the range a scrap. There are still way too many sales at 5 refined to change the price. Theres a really high amount of people still selling and buying for 5 ref.
I sold my last keys before I stopped trading for 4.66 when the average was already at 5 refined. And if I were to sell any keys for metal right now I'd sell them at max for 5 refined.
@Wesley
http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/10612363
Did you say you do not re-sell keys?
lmao, the guy resells it for 6 ref.
lol 6 ref, BUT DATS NOT IN RANGE!
never sold it, also closed it pretty much directly (i did sell it but not for refined)
pretty sure i sold it to market so i could buy sanctum.
and that's not an excuse, you were still trying to resell it.
i did for 2 minutes yes, but it does not take away the fact that i haven't actually resold keys.
Not really, people do buy them to get other things. Hence it being a currency.
http://backpack.tf/classifieds/search/5021/6/0
Enough proof of people selling at 5.33.
But, selling isn't sold, as buying isn't bought.
Yeah i thought this range was ok , there was a few buyers for 5.33 but then i decided against it.
http://trade.tf/price/5021/6
Graph on key trading shows a drop actually. Would seem to erode the argument against increase.
http://tf2finance.com/keys/
Finance does show an uptick but is likely a response to recent suggestions and is countered by trade.tf going below 5 ref
As noted on the site, tf2finance crashed on the 13th. Averages since then shouldn't be used for a few days.
Did not know. thnx
These graphs are always a bit behind..
If that is true than keys are dropping further than what trade.tf shows.
Got a source that proves this?
Doesn't a key suggestion require mountains more of proof then this?
(Question out of curiosity)
you need more links for a item like that......

http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/10685183 (~20 ref in stock)
this is just from parsing through the first few pages of outpost. there are many more 5.11/5.22 buyers out there than OP linked, but someone else will have to find them, i'm tired of looking at 9-month old "buying keys 2.66 ref, add me" trades that are still being bumped. here's an extra 5.22 buyer to get you started:
http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/10837838 :)
"Only going to give you buyers because $h1t man , why would someone sell for 5 when they can sell for 5.11 or 5.22 - and before you argue that they wont find the 5.11/5.22 trade , I'm going to counter-argue that there is just too many 5.11/5.22 trades to ignore."
Maybe it's just me, but this sounds like a troll suggestion. It's just like trying to put up a suggestion for Bill's hat's using only quickselling links. And like those aforementioned suggestions, they are a huge waste of my time, and I feel comfortable downvoting this.
Never understood key reselling, and I doubt I will ever understand it. Nor do I want to - all it appears to me as is creating a market where everyone loses and no one wins. It's like starting a business and having nothing to base it's value on, only heresay.
Why champion this price change so much? Pretty much, "proof" and "price suggestions" begins to become rhetorical when you have a market that no one wants to stop, and no one wants to rein in.
But hey, I'm just someone who plays the game FOR the game and not get suckered in this economic procees. What the hell do I know?
(Removed previous low end value)
Lol, you do know how much proof you need when it comes to keys suggestions right? Even though Long gets hated on, his quantity of proof is about 15 times of yours.
Not saying that your proof is bad, they are good, but just need more to justify this big change you are proposing to the market.
How come ? Most people here on backpack.tf dont even admit it as currency, if we're not gonna treat it differently , why should we have different proof to rise/drop the price of said item?
Part of the reason you need so much proof is because of the sheer volume of key trades. 20 proof could just be "cherry picked".
Key prices are no longer rising, ignorance is. People are inflating their own market for personal gain, with intent on buying, waiting for a rise in key price, selling, buying waiting for a rise in key price, selling, buying, waiting for a rise in key price, selling, etc... Now if we just stop suggesting new prices, the key market will balance itself out
That is what I was trying to say to everyone. But I was a bad boy and was warned by cleverpun (lol)
There was a time where backpack had no suggestion for about a week...and prices continued to rise on outpost.
"price is outdated"
last one accepted was 9 days ago
To stay on topic...
1) You only included buyers. Who says these guys aren't people who are paying higher than the price of keys to quickly require keys? People who pay higher for keys shouldn't count
2) No sellers. Show what people want for their keys
3) No proof that people are not selling for 5 Refined, or that you can't buy for 5 Refined.
Anyways, I downvote
Are they "quickly" getting those keys? One backpack.tf classified search should show you the answer for #2. Right now lowest seller is 5.16.
Do I need to even respond to 3? Backpack.tf reflects the usual price range, not the WHOLE price range.
There are a few links of some people who only need a couple of keys.
Are you actually suggesting that I should prove my own proof on somebody's else suggestion?
Not sure what you are trying to suggest? Presenting 27 links to suggest an entire price change of thousands of keys is not substantial in the slightest.
" prove my own proof " what?
Your opinion doesn't matter unless it's backed by proof. You have no counterproof.
Did I ever comment on whether or not 27 keys is "substantial"? It's not the most, but key suggestions have passed with fewer.
With the multitude of buyers above 5, I don't see why it even matters that proof of people not selling for 5 is not given.
You know something is wrong when people are actively buying at the high end or above of your range.
"There are a few links of some people who only need a couple of keys. " Point being? Should he find some people who need like 1000 keys each? Don't see the relevance of this.
Not sure if trolling or just...
1). What? I said no opinion. I can only vote on what the proof is. This proof is one-dimensional and overall bad, and does not fully support the range.
2). Once again, I only vote on what proof is given to me. I don't need to find my own counter proof. The proof given here is illogical.
3). Because it's happened in the past, means it OK? lol
4). Just because somebody is buying for one more measly scrap more, doesn't mean it eliminates thousands of other people. These trades are not at the top of the website. Not all traders are greedy, and will endlessly search for the top buyer. For example, if 2000 people buy keys for 5 Refined and most are successful, why should 27 people, who are buying for 1 scrap higher completely change the price?
5). Still buyers and sellers below the range. Once again, why should 27 people decide our price.
6). Exaggeration much? You don't need people who need 1000 keys, but somebody buying over the current range in need of 1 Key is probably in need of it desperately. Also, the whole point of a suggestion is to decide the range of the MAIN TREND.
If you have anything else to say, please add me. Like I said, I'm not sure if you're trolling, butt-hurt, or...
Again, they sell at 5.33 very easily, so why isn't this in the range and why wasn't Longs suggestion passed?
What a joke, mods.
Agreed , its very sad. Here's what i think of the majority of the people in this community are like: "herpadurr , im too poor for $h1t , im gonna downvote keys"
That's like, the exact opposite of what you should have done.
You do know this is going to be used against you, right?
http://i.imgur.com/LhhFSLw.png
Chances are it's because long was being a jerk or something. Mods get very touchy with that stuff on key suggestions. Main reason why a lot of them get closed, actually.
If you want any more proof , I'll redirect you to this suggestion by " ☣I LOVE MY HATERZ♫ #key4lyfe" here : http://backpack.tf/vote/id/51916d1eba2536397a000001
Yes, calling people who are evaluating your proof, including users and moderators, "****ing lowlife scrubs" is a very effective tactic in proving your point.
EDIT: That's a good boy
No more Key Price increases! The price isn't outdated, the brains of the people who suggest bigger prices is. The price of 1 key used to be around 3-4 refined about a month back. Thanks to the selfish traders who suggest these, the key trade is off the rails. The prices of keys nowadays is just ridiculously much. Do NOT make anymore suggestions to raise the price, instead suggest make it lower or do not suggest at all.
P.S. Proof of Buyers isn't enough, you need Proof of Sellers too, to prove us there is people who SELL for the price you're suggesting.
Did you even look at the proof ?
I say screw your proof. There is at least a million people who trade in TF2 and imo 28 Proofs of Buyers ain't enough. Besides, selfish traders like you ruin the TF2 Trading with bigger price suggestions and such.
Shame on you.
Here's some more proof: http://backpack.tf/vote/id/51916d1eba2536397a000001
What did he say? Screw your proof. I am guessing you are doing this for yourself, much less for the tf2 economy. Come on man, think.
Loads of proof upvote
Sarcasm??
I think my sarcasm detector broke.
just bought a key for 5 ref
The price of keys keeps inflating so much that nobody trusts them anymore. I'm seeing more trades where people would rather deal in BACKPACK EXPANDERS than keys because they have a nice, solid, STABLE price.
yeah, just over 2 keys, like they were before the price increase.
I'm sure the price will go up eventually, because of endless influx of metal.
But the pace of suggestions speeds the process at the moment.
It doesn't even need to pass anymore, the active quicksellers update their trades the minute new suggestion is up.
I benefit from the raise, but it does worry me how easily key market can be controlled.
I tried to find a seller for 5 ref, and went through several pages, I found 5,11 at best and they were out of stock. 5,22 i found a few. From this basis I give my vote on this.
just look at search link and found two on front page at 5
http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/10850937
http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/10850998
Hmm....waiting for this to fail so you can do it?
no, I just feel 5 is still happening that why I included 5 in my previous suggestion.
And this is why you suggested a price increase?
yes because 5.33 is sold successfully ?
Nope, 5 ref is still very possible.
how many of them do you see daily? and how many are accessible to community members? The suggested price not refers to what is possible but what is readily available. It is possible to buy a key from 1 weapon to 5.33 ref, all you need is a willing seller.
Go to trade servers please
have you ever seen any proof ever shown from trade servers @backpack.tf?
Yeah, it's called a screeny of the trade history.
lol trade history has nothing to do with trade servers mate, I think you got confused here.
>"lol trade history has nothing to do with trade servers mate"
Because, ya know, showing literally what got traded for what has nothing to do with a trade server because, ya know, it doesn't prove without a doubt that this item sold for this. :P You definitely can prove you can buy from trade servers if you go into your inventory history/trade history and screeny it.
" You definitely can prove you can buy from trade servers if you go into your inventory history/trade history and screeny it."
Are you serious mate? your inventory history shows only the trade with the person.
If English is your problem and you are using a translator then I suggest you use a different translator.
"Are you serious mate? your inventory history shows only the trade with the person. "
That also shows how much you sold it for/bought it for which also backs when you make claims against someone who "supposedly" can't back their story. Like, for instance, if I sent you http://i.imgur.com/YmGyEdU.png, that's undeniable proof that I bought a strange huntsman on March 15 for 9 keys and a refined metal.
Also, use some sense next time you decide to declare winning an argument on the horrid translations of a translator. Pretty sad when you can clearly see that my English is perfectly fine compared to a translator's.
Undeniably?
http://i.imgur.com/UipkfTI.png
http://imgur.com/a/wSp7w
I've been discussing this for a while. I think it's fine for the most part but cross-checks are the safest way IMO.
I guess from Pilltacular's comment, I should reword that. It's easy to see that I bought the huntsman for that much, however, caution should be used. However, let's be reasonable here. Inventory history, cross checked with backpack.tf backpack history is a pretty powerful and accurate tool to sales and purchases.
On that note, some of those items if not most, were renamed/some just don't exist in the slightest. Maybe it's more so a thing of making sure you know the item exists (Like, come on, a vintage festive medi gun? ._.)

Yeah but where does it say that you bought it from a trade server? you could have bought from outpost, tf2shop, steam market, paypal or godknows where. Mate just to clear things out we are talking about proof from trade servers and not proof of bought or sold. You need to prove that you bought it from a guy on a trader server, and your trade history does not prove that.
I hope I made it clear this time
" Mate just to clear things out we are talking about proof from trade servers and not proof of bought or sold."
Calm down. Does it matter WHERE the item was bought/sold? The item was bought/sold, that's all you need to know. No one cares WHERE it was bought or sold. Could have been in a trade server, could have been OP. Does it really matter that much? Proof is proof, no matter where it comes from (assuming it's legit).

Me and chigga ,the other guy, were talking only about trade servers when you decided to barge in. Please read the conversation next time before you jump in with your off topic comments.
Man, your jimmies are just rustled beyond belief. It still DOESN'T matter where it was purchased from. Hell, do what he said and screeny the chat in game that shows that people are, indeed, selling for 5 ref and then screeny the trade history that shows that you also purchased the item, confirming that the trader wasn't just spouting off.
My god. What's the point of even trying to defend the other side when you're going to sit here and just **** all over me personally?

Dude we were not talking about the key price, we were talking about trade servers and the sellers there. If you wana talk about key price then the whole suggestion is there, y do u still decide to barge in our conversation with your unrelated talk? and yet you do not give up despite of me telling you again and again that our discussion was something else. If you have to write your opinion about key prices then please write in a separate comment, do not fuck with our topic.

Allow me to rebuttal.
You were talking about how trade server proof is never used, we gave solutions to you/ways to show you/ways proof has been shown on backpack.tf from trade servers.
The whole suggestion is here, okay. Please tell me how my talking about how to prove that you can bring proof from trade servers to prove this price as well does not apply to both conversations even if it really does not matter where the key actually came from. I believe you don't understand that it really does not matter where it came from other than that the sale took place.
Your discussion? It was FOUR messages back and forth. That barely constitutes a discussion, let alone a good conversation. Get over yourself; you're on a public forum where anyone and everyone is able to and even welcomed to comment on your messages/opinions to counter you/respond.
I never once mentioned my opinion on key prices; I furthered my point to back up Chigga's point that keys are sold for 5 refined on trade servers. I have no opinion on key prices anymore because of how high they're soaring.
I go back to my point. You're on a public forum in which everyone and anyone can comment on your comments/posts. I can barge in however I'd like, when I'd like because you are basically in public on the internet. So please, calm down and remember that before you spout off.
I'm no longer responding as you've gotten so off topic that the topic really is nowhere to be found. On a side note, it's ironic how you say that my talk is unrelated. Anyways, goodbye!
Doesn't matter, if this passes, I'll just take screenies of people typing in game chat, "selling keys 5 ref"
^ That also works as well.
I will buy all of your keys for 5 ref right now.
I have offered that to him before you Simon but he does not sell his keys for metal, only argues.
I don't need metal
If we don't have tf2fiance to go by, then maybe we should hold off on future key suggestions for a while unless if they have massive proof(like long provides).
tf2fiance is not worthy as a solid Proof as it can be manipulated by a large group of people easily.
Same for this place.
of your 27
15 are, were or will be reselling for more than they paid
Most are excessively re-listing at misleading prices to attract more sellers/buyers
Most are are only buying 1 key hence a quick buy equaling the top of the range to get it faster.
You also have the same people in there multiple times:
trade # 10820754, 10837368
If anything this means a decrease in price is necessary
I give about 10 minutes until a mod warns you on this. Please post constructive things in the future :/
Its been about 10 minutes and no warning for him, can someone tell me what sparked all the key prices to rise? Hey question, how many warnings does it take to be banned from posting comments?
A combination of halloween followed shortly by both gift premium and steam marketplace. There are topics in the forums that go rather indepth.
There's no set number of warnings that result in a ban. Bans are basically by a mod's discretion.
dude. im Asking why they are rising SECOND its my first comment so yeah. Dont hate.
Little counter proof
http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/10853745 sold for 5 ref very recently!
http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/10672987 week old buys keys for 5 ref
Sold instantaneously though :/
You need sellers too, not just buyers
I sell my Keys at 4.66
http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/10835300 ?
Its also in capital letters.....
What does that mean.....
I read the first ten comments and am amazed that some of you think you know enough about this sort of thing to comment on it. You don't.
today I bought a key for 4.66 and I see other people selling keys for 4.66, I think people are ready for key prices to go down. I can't even afford to buy keys to uncrate with and that's the hole point of keys.
If people are selling at 4.66 show us some proof, and maybe then keys will go down.
If you go on a trade server you might find people selling keys for 4.66 or you might not that was just my experience, I'm not saying that's what every body sells for.
Yes and I'm saying if people are selling at 4.66 show us some proof that they're so that it can be used a counter proof, instead of saying you "might" find sellers at 4.66
How many people do you know who actually use keys for uncrating?
Ikr, if I were to uncrate 10 crates and don't get an unusual then It would be a big wast, so whats the point of opening crates if a key cost way more then the things you get in them. I wish people would use keys as tools not currency, because I like uncrating.
*Owns 38*
Thats why.
Yes , you got me :(
I've sold 17 of my keys very quickly for 5.33 a pop; 5.22 is fair, if not conservative.
http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/10829311
Honestly.. the price range for a key right now should be 5.22 - 5.44 , but the BackPack.tf Illuminati Socialist party doesn't want for keys to increase in price because apparently that will and i quote "ruin the tf2 trading community" - anyway , proof does not matter with keys and with these people . They just send their herds of sheep onto this or any other Man Co. Supply Crate Key vote and they downvote while they're ignoring all the proof.
This is getting really pathetic , sad and annoying.
I bought one for 5 ref a few min ago,
http://i.imgur.com/ARC3VJm.png
You have bought one Key for 5 Ref. That represents the whole market.
Not saying im the whole market, Im just throwing it out there that I bought one for 5 ref
There are also trades happening at 5.33+ Ref, we can't include everything in the range. The percentage of them is too low.
People like you are the reason Keys continue to climb in price. STOP PAYING SO MUCH FOR KEYS! They will fall in price if you people stop doing this!
I have a feeling regular keys will go down now because robo keys. yay!
seriously.... I actually do think what you're saying is a bit biased because of the fact that you own 38 of them. Obviously, you're the one making the profit.
Bought a decent amount of keys for 5ref this week
http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/10667992
The Vicious Cycle of Keys.
1. Some guys on outpost demand a scrap more for their keys.
2. backpack.tf updates their prices by a scrap to meet what people want on outpost.
3. People on outpost see the raised price, and increase their prices by a scrap to stay above backpack.tf prices.
4. Rince and repeat until suddenly keys are 6 refined.
Whoah, I do not like the key price here. so I should downvote it!
Guys, enough raising key prices. Don't you want people to be able to buy your stuff? Come on... People new to TF2 will never be able to afford keys. Stop doing this. You're ruining the trading aspect of TF2. This is nuts! The rich get richer and the poor get poorer. Enough already. Of course retards pay 5+ ref for keys. Because that's all you find on Outpost. One guy raises his keys and everyone follows. Enough already. Good God! Pretty soon no one will be able to or willing to buy your crap because keys are so ridiculously high, no one will be able to afford it! Keys should be locked at 3 Ref. FOREVER! Come on Backpack. Stop this nonsense! You're ruining the game and people are pissed!
