I have no idea how that last suggestion got passed (http://backpack.tf/vote/id/51a134f8ba2536526a000004).
It had ZERO links of proof, only paragraphs of his opinion.

Leave personal profit out of this, that's not what backpack.tf is for.
Then that's even worse, it's off-topic to the suggestion and *dun-dun-DUN* you'll get warned by cleverpun.
Nope, by me. And you should stay on topic to. ;)
*too
Ah, k. Well I'll try. Just wanted to clarify - I did not dislike your comment :3
How is that profit when there were already 3 refined buyers...
http://imgur.com/a/agVAC some trades i've done for 3 ref each
2 of the 3 ref sellers are closed already. And don't say "I have no idea" when you simply can read my commet.
I mean there were tons of counterproof and a 60% voter approval. Clearly 3 ref should not have been taken out of the range.
But 2.66 ref should have been included in the range. And since no one made counter suggestion....
PS: And there was not much counterproof.
All but one of your 3 ref buyers have actively announced that they have stopped buying. The other one (3rd link) seems to be inactive on outpost.
On the other hand, you have decent proof for 3 ref sales. I myself used to buy for 3 ref, though that one guy on outpost seems to be setting the trend of 2 for 1 key. However, it's not quite enough for me to upvote yet, quite yet, as a lot of backpack expander sales happen in comparison to your proof list.
Why is the price going down? Hasn't the sale end?
The sale may have ended (I don't know) but there are still many in supply. If you know the laws of supply and demand, if the supply curve shifts right and the demand curve stays constant, then the price goes down while the quantity goes up.
BTW I am raising the price in this suggestion.
I have a question. On curiosity... what would it need to take to get the price to go down. This can be equated similarly to keys. We always say that the price that you can get is dictated by the market. That, the only way for the price to go down is by having a large influx into the market at a substantially lower price. For backpack expanders, we have just such an influx. At least one person has bought TONS of expanders and has been selling them consistently at 2 for 1 key. They are doing this because the price of expanders was reduced to .99 and keys remain the same price, thus making a small amount of profit in every sale.
My question: why would anyone pay 3.00 refined for a bp expander when they could get it for 2.66
The answer: 1. they are unaware of the other seller. 2. they only want one expander. 3. they do not have any keys (or insufficient metal to obtain a key).
My guess is that most of the sales that occur at 3 refined is due to their checking backpack.tf, seeing the current price, and saying that is acceptable unbeknownst to them that there is a seller in the market effectively dropping the price.
So, should we reward the savvy buyer who "shops" around to keep an extra reclaimed or do we penalize them for doing their due diligence and checking the current price on backpack.tf. If the current price is being dictated, even by only one massive seller, does that not make the current market price go down? If one 3 ref seller sells one pack and the 2 for 1 key seller sells 100 in comparison, which one should we be going to?
I have no opinion as to which way this will go... however, I believe it should conform to the market and most market sales seem to be taking place between traders and this one seller, where the other traders buy from him and then sell at a profit to those who are unaware (or the other options I mentioned above). This is arbitrage at its finest.
I just want to hear everyone's thoughts :)
Backpack.tf is not supposed to influence the market equilibrium price at all. To say that a buyer or seller is misinformed is inaccurate. The prices on this site merely reflect what buyers and sellers are willing to pay. In a world without pricing sites, what would the market price be for certain items? Everything should balance out somewhat and if people are willing to pay a certain price, that counts as part of the market regardless if they could have gotten it cheaper somewhere else.
No, I agree with that. I am mostly positing that the buyers at 3 ref are the outliers, because although the sales happen, MORE sales happen at the lower price.
Your assertion is completely correct, backpack.tf is not supposed to influence the equilibrium; however, it is supposed to reflect the market, and if most sales are going for say 2.66, then the equilibrium should be there, not at the higher 3 ref amount.
Yes, that's why there is a range from 2.66-3 ref.
About this of your proof...

Look my links again. I was supporting the 2.66 ref low end because I have bough them for 2.66 ref, not for 3 ref.
I apologize, my mistake. I'm glad you pointed that out.
why has 2.66-2.88 been accepted with buyers and sellers for 3ref in comments?
Because 2.66-2.88 was better than 3 flat.
understood, i remember some told him to resubmit at 2.66-3 as 2.88 isn`t really happening anywhere.
I am dumbfounded that the previous suggestion was passed with absolutely ZERO proof. I fully support this, and I don't mind writing a few baseless paragraphs about my opinion if that'll help this suggestion be approved as well (hinthint)
