Conclusion:

Low value for the current trade selling for 40 keys with no mention of it being a quicksell, plus its a week old.

High Value due to the Max sale, and 2.1 because at the time of my suggestion the cheapest Max on the classifieds is 2.1, not to mention several tf2outpost trades for around this price.

where does the higher bound of 2.1 come from?

As I said, the cheapest Max I could find on the classified is 2.1 so for good measures I added 0.1 incase you can actually get 2.1 and not only 2 for a lvl one Max.

yeah, I agree with that. I did a quick search of outpost for level 1 maxes, and saw a couple that have offers of 50keys, or 2 buds + 2 keys. so i agree with the range.
