please...please for the sake of the tf2 economy stop letting highballers on outpost price ruin the tf2 economy. make a stand! We can stop this together. Bit by bit we can end the vicious cycle of people selling their keys for that 'one scrap more' and then it getting accepted as a price here as people will pay that due to the seemingly neverending rise. The price rises because people accept that the price is just 'rising' and even if they buy a key for a little more they know that soon enough the price will be raised. This is not how the economy should be. The rise has been caused for all the wrong reasons and is screwing up the economy. scrap by scrap...we can do our part to saving our precious economy. Please stand strong with me against the tyrannous rule of people who have no idea what thier key reselling is doing to the economy. Alone i am weak but together we can find the strength to defeat the evil rife in the tf2 system!

Because this is worth the time for everyone to post about. This isn't a site for your rants about unfair prices, this is for raising or lowering prices based on solid evidence and proof. Please come back when you can do so.
the proof provided and accepted in these backpack.tf price suggestions is in no way solid evidence
"Any" Economy is based off profit. these chances can happen. Don't "cry".
Gather some proof. make a stand. but not like this.
No. You need proof.
i knew i would receive responses like this but we both know that the keys rise is happening for all the wrong reasons and a well deserved drop would do well for everyone except the key hoarders and resellers looking for their one scrap profit
Nope.avi. I'm sorry but no matter how passionate/opinionated you are, you'll need proof to make a proper suggestion. I hate the key prices as much as you do, but the tf2 economy won't be saved by rhetoric. Keys are rising only slightly. Metal is devaluing heavily. End of. That's a fact.
i agree and understand the devaluation of metal and that along with the steam market is causing a rise in key prices. However they should not be rising at this rate
It's pure economics and maths. The rate at which metal devalues is mainly dictated by other factors such as stupid idlers and just as stupid buyers at higher prices who are accepting it. Backpack.tf is designed to follow trends, not to set them.
Together we are strong brother! we will fight no matter how hopeless the cause
lololololololololololololdownvote.
But seriously, as unfortunate as it may be, this vicious cycle isn't going to stop any time soon. Hell, the key bankers alone can and most likely will keep this going on their own. Don't get me wrong, I hate having to shell out 5 for a key just as much as the next guy, but it's a side effect of the times we live in and was created by, in my opinion, one of the most brilliant moves by Valve in the history of the company.
Touching on the economy bit however. The price of keys really has nothing whatsoever to do with the majority of the economy. The only thing it will effect is the price of items already priced in keys but we're already beginning to see how that's not even true as the price of genuines, vintages, and even buds/bills in keys has been starting to fall a bit and will likely continue to fall as their metal value stays roughly the same.
So yes, keys are becoming harder to get but I fail to see how, in any way, their price has any direct influence on the rest of the market which mostly consists of craft hats and stranges.
how do key prices not have a direct effect on the rest of the market. They have an ENOURMOUS effect. they are one of the strongest forms of currency in the game and many many things are priced in keys which are adversely effected. Furthermore things that are not priced in keys are affected as the price changes between things priced in keys and not priced in keys due to the key rise and not due to the relative change in rarity/want of that item
That's not true in the slightest. While keys are used as a currency their buying power has increased. As I stated previously the cost of items priced in keys is declining. A perfect example is the Essential Accessories. For the longest time these were easily a 6-8 key item. You can now get them quite easily between 3 and 4 keys, nearly half of what they used to go for.
Also, look at the pricelist for vintages and genuines. There's a lot of little red "down" arrows there right now and there could very well be more of them there that simply haven't been suggested yet.
So the argument that keys influence the price of other items is pointless as the value of those items is going to remain constant no matter what the price of a key ends up being.
Keys: More costly, but buy you much more than they used to.
20 pence Cleverpun wilp close and ban for "soapbox" suggestion
huh?
http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/11289971 - 5.44 buyer.
My counterproof > your proof.
Also, don't try to manipulate prices.
alright but the reason for this occurance is explained in my speech and im not manipulating prices. I am making a loss here and trying to fix the damage done by others manipulation
Buyers are dictating the price at this point if you check the past number of suggestions, not 'highballers'. When buyers stop increasing how much they're offering to secure keys, prices will stop rising.
Suggestions aren't here for to be your blog. I'm just closing this, but next time, you can expect a temporary ban. There are forums if you wish to discuss keys. http://forums.backpack.tf/
