Most people buy for 5.33, and some even buy 5.44. Very few people buy for 5.55, but they all sell at 5.33 - 5.55, while 5.66 Refined is a rather hard sell, and should not be in the range, especially when you consider the amount of 5.55 sellers.

It seems like people buy for 5.33 Refined, and sell for 5.55 Refined, and it all seems to even out at 5.44 Refined sellers/buyers.


Also, I did add 50 or something new links, in case your wondering if I just copy and pasted my previous comment into proof. I will try to gather more proof in my free time. Any help will be appreciated.

          scrap.tf may not count as proof alone, but it accompanied by a lot more proof from other sources.               Alright, you're still glossing over the fact that he didn't just simply put "scrap.tf buys for 5.33 refined and sells for 5.55 refined". He took the time to list a plethora of other links to get his point across about what he personally believes the price of keys should be listed as which is the point I wanted people to take away from my comment.                 But whether it supports the price or not, SCRAP.TF does NOT count as proof. You have been seeing this frequently as of late. cleverpun has spoken up in opposition to the use of scrap.tf as proof.

                KMD's comment was probably spammed with downvotes because some are foolish enough to think that scrap.tf acts like a badge of proof to key suggestions. Scrap.tf has the nickname of "lowball/highball.tf" for a reason.

            People don't buy for 5.55 ref generally unless they are quickbuying keys. I have bought multiple keys for 5.33 and even bought 2 for 5.33 from a guy who tried to sell them for 5.44 but was unsuccessful.

                  Most of the 5.55 sellers are old/started a long time ago, duped links, closed for some reason or have lower offers that may have been accepted.

                  in your 5.55 buyers you have ONLY 2 valid links, the first guy buys for 5.44 lol

                          It is not suspicious at all. It has been been explained and the reason is understandable. Because traders like round figures in item trading you will see flat lines at whole points for every item. Buyers and sellers like to transact at the common intervals. You can see it thru out trade.tf sheet.


                          Just look back over price suggestions for keys. Whenever it reached a ref point (3 ref, 4 ref, 5 ref) it took a long time to move from that point. Once it did the price moved fairly rapidly to the next point. 6 ref will be here soon and it should take a really long time to move from there.

                              Trade.tf pricesheet has worked better then I expected. You can always find an item within its pricerange. 5.33 ref is still very possible to buy a key for, if you wander out on the trade servers. So I am not surprised if trade.tf listed the medianprice at 5.33 ref. I even got to buy 2 keys for 5 ref 2 days ago.


                              Considering also this site used to approve tf2finance in the discussion, where you had no insight of how the numbers were made. The creator behind trade.tf have presented the calculations in the open. Sure you can always argue manipulation. But then again so can be said about backpack.tf or any site that is providing priceinformation.


                              Unless there is hard proof I would think it would be wise to be humble and see how trade.tf develops and this site as well for that matter. So far nobody has shown that there is foul play behind trade.tf, therefore I dont see why it cannot be treated as just another link among others for making a point.

                                                      I must be an ignorant, but from what i'm seeing this is how it works, this page puts a price, people on outpost sell keys for 1 scrap more than it's actual price so they earn profit, everyone does that, and this page rises the price that people actually rised searching for profit, then people notice that the price has rised, and they rise it again so they gain profit, and this will happen on an infinite loop, and will never stop, am i wrong? D:

                                                              I dont think its fair to punish the games good part of the community because some people think they can cheat.

                                                              The solution to this problem is to have valve take action. maybe if someone spends over 30 hours in 2 weeks at the menu screen and the only game they have on the account is tf2 they should be autobanned. or something like that

                                                                  If these people were banned the price of the key would lower and the common citizen would be able to enjoy the game more. rather than it being a whopping 5 ref which would take (5.33ref/0.11ref=48weapons) 48weapons/10perweek= 4.8 almost 5 weeks to afford a key, when it used to be 2 weeks.

Since when did buyers dictate the economy or price of any item? Using that logic, we should eliminate 8 Keys for Bill's, or the high end of any range.

                                                                                    A) I was not discounting the rest of your proof, merely commenting on one aspect of it.

                                                                                    B) On previous key suggestions that raise the price there is a clear preference for buyer trades over seller trades, because they provide clearer evidence that the price is increasing. This is true of most other suggestions as well, to a lesser degree.

                                                                                      There is certainly not enough proof at 5.55 ref to include it in the range; there's about the same number of "quicksells" below 5.33 ref and sales at 5.55 ref. Trades will happen above and below the suggested range. I would say 5.33 and 5.44 ref are where the majority of sales happen.

I ask you this: how many people buy Bill's at 8 Keys? Nobody. Why is it the range? Because sellers successfully sell at 8 Keys. Willing buyers should not dictate the economy.                                                                                                           Of course all these guys who have lots of keys or who bought it for 5.44 would like to sell it higher, that's why this profit / interest mindset has been pushing the keys higher and it is only 1 way, that's up.

                                                                                                          But to put the price for keys to an upper range of 5.55, there should be more proofs / evidence where buyers places 5.55 buy ads but not getting any keys to buy, IMHO.

                                                                                                                                          Exactly, what people do not realize is that in order to have keys be at 2.33 refined again they must gradually start decreasing how much they are selling for and overtime lower the price. You cannot simply have someone call upon others to sell drastically cheaper because, then there's no support. If one is to make a claim for people to sell for less, then he or she must lead in the effort to do so rather than waiting for another and then buy from them.

Why would you still want keys to go up? If Backpack.tf people continue to try and rise the price of one Key go even higher the economy will eventually crash. I found that price to be unfair to the market, the buyer, and the seller. The market continues to get worse. The buyer has to continue to scrape up more ref for a tool the used to be 2.55 Ref and under. And yet seller will keep trying to push the price higher in order go get around this "silly market"

Not to mention if you're using outpost it's rather hard to find someone who's not selling for these dumb prices.

Though the base price is raising, you still make a 1-2 scrap profit. The base price raising just means more money put into buying, even more gain from selling. If you hate the price so much, just buy a few off Paypal and keybank like the rest of us.

Because the proof in them was crap, and there were also a few troll suggestions. Therefore, a key suggestion will not always be "okayed no matter what".

I do believe you are mistaken though. Most of these trades are not selling for only 1 Key. This was just additional proof to prove my point. I do believe that all my proof put together does not account for quote unquote 0.000004234%, and looking at the history, you can see that they were all sold through the trades I have provided.

I really do! Considering your amazing voting accuracy(30%), all those suggestions you have made(none), your impressive rich history in trading(has a backpack of a value of 18.5 Keys), and your knowledge of trading for keys(no apparent knowledge), you should lead the government.

I can't believe I am seeing someone complain about too much proof. It's not about one scrap, it is a matter of having the site's price list be accurate. If it isn't, the site has no purpose. After all, what the hell would anyone use this site for if the prices were never updated? There's already one Internet Wayback Machine, backpack doesn't need to fill that position too.

                                                                                                                                                                                          the price of keys have been going up recently but have had an algurythm to them like 3.66 3.66-3.77 3.66-3.88 then 3.88-3.99 3.99-4 and so on basically they go up in range then go up 1 scrap (the range between the lowest and biggest is going up 1 scrpa at a time then restarting after doing that)

If you look at the percentages of the last suggestion at least 40% supported them on every single. Therefore the divide between people who do not believe that keys should rise and those who believe they should is much more narrow than simply the 1% idea which you are most likely illuding to Wall Street and presumably are insinuating that backpack.tf is corrupt due to this correlative I assume you to be drawing between Wall Street bankers and backapck.tf moderators.

Why don't you people suggest the price of a key of while including sellers below normal price as evidence as well....

Views have absolutely nothing to do with them being successful. I've never heard such a silly and an illogical reason to justify a downvote. Chances are a few of them did not sell their key; however, considering they have been selling at 5.55 for quite a while, they're are tons of buyers at 5.33 - 5.44, and they're tons of trades at 5.55, how you can regard that all the trades presented to you didn't fall through is beyond me.

I just have trouble believing that a trade advertising a price above the backpack.tf price could have been completed after 19 views, no bookmarks, and no comments; it just seems unreasonable. The ones that were successful were either bots or popular, reputable traders; while those trades are legitimate, they happened because these traders were well known. What are the chances that a nobody got a key sold for more than backpack.tf price after so little?

                                                                                                                                                                                                      I recently had to buy a bunch of keys for metal, In a transaction where I would normally only ask keys, I accepted metal at a slight overpay. That being said, 5.55 was the only price that was available in bulk.


                                                                                                                                                                                                      Well, that shows that 5.55 isnt very much selling quickly. But OP has spent alot of time gathering proof for 5.55 and it does seem that it sells only after waiting a bit.


                                                                                                                                                                                                      Hopefully since this suggestion is a bit more progressive and if keys will continue to increase, it will be more accurate for longer.


                                                                                                                                                                                                      And as always, please wait atleast ~2-3 days before suggesting a new price and 5 days before making a .5 scrap change (under normal circumstances)
