one sold for $70 (2 buds 35$ each) 3 weeks ago, buyer bought noh mercy and mullet together

None of the owners selling below 2 buds as its rare (http://www.tf2outpost.com/search/129798645). It has low sale since the price difference between backpack.tf and owners demand is having difference (due to not correctly updated price) and hence buyers are bit hesitant otherwise it will sell easily for 2.
it will sell easily for more than 2 if it wasnt outdated price i will agree with you on that.. i am one of the owners of the mullet and i have a suggestion allready for this rare hat .
have you calculate overprice 0.9 on the chapeu?
my range is 1.6 - 1.9 i am thinking about closing my suggestion if yours is more accurate.
Link 1: Chapeau = 1.7 buds after overpay.
Link 2: 70 dollars... according to bp.tf (http://backpack.tf/stats/143/6/0), earbuds are 43.40. 70/43.40 = 1.6 buds.
Downvote.
If you do not remember at that time the bud was ~21 keys selling for 35$-39$ this is the price. There were thousands of trade who were buying buds for 20 (even 19) that time.
1 sold for 1 bud and 16 keys pure (1+16/22=1.72 Pure)

Shadow bought it only to get the 1 bud bonus on the set.
Whatever, nicer round numbers and more upvotes than the other suggestion.
" This is rare hat to find. "
Yeah, you FIND this in a crate.
still its rare it seems they are not so easy to find only 2 in market

1 sold for 1.7-2.1 buds unusual it looks like the range is correct after unusual overpayits should be 1.8 average i think your suggestion is closer to reality than mine you can add as proof my 1 bud 16 keys i paid to support your low end in pure :) in case i close mine
http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/11735404
No it isn't. You're forgetting the overpay which makes the unusual 1.7 buds flat.
nope it doesn't its 1.85 with unusual overpay but still either way its in the suggested range
No. For overpay, if the range isn't puny, you take the lowest value.
Also, it doesn't matter if it's in the range or not. You have to prove the high end and I'm not seeing jack for the high end.
you are complete ametaur if you take the low end the vivid is 1.3 buds i think and the chapeu 1.7 its 0.4 buds away but still the mullet its rarer than the chapeu in any aspect as a hat ans as an effect you cant calculate based in the low end you need the average of them both but since the guy that offer his hat had to overpay its only fair to price the mullet according to the chapeu price.
to be fair mullet should go to 1.7-2.1 as the hat the guy offered hem
anyway my suggestion is still up and with a smaller range than this but i am feeling this is the right range and not mine the most upvotes will get accepted i guess
You haven't been around many Unusual suggestions have you? It's done by everyone here so I'll explain it as best I can.
He traded his Chapeau for the Mullet so he paid 1.7 buds in Unusual after overpay. The Mullet, therefore, can be argued to be worth 1.7 buds. Now, why do we do this? Why not, as you said, just put the price of the Chapeau for the Mullet?
Because of profit. No one sells for less unless they need pure. They want to make a profit. Why would I give my 1 bud hat for your 1 bud hat when I gain nothing? You get what you want but what's in it for me? Unless I'm the nicest guy in the world I won't do it. Now you offer me a hat worth 1-1.2 buds. Oh hell yes, I can quicksell the hat for 1 bud and if I choose not to, I can get 1.2 buds. It makes it worth my time.
The reason is, because, when I trade my hat, I lose all my offers and the time (opportunity cost) spent trying to sell my hat. I'm now back at square one. If I traded a 1 bud hat for a 1 bud hat I end up losing all that time and all the offers I had gathered. That's not worth it. I'd rather keep my 1 bud hat and keep the offers I got.
That is how overpay works. We either take the median and multiply it by 0.9 (if the range is small like 1-1.1 buds) or the lowest value on a hat with a decent range, i.e., the Chapeau.
That is why it's considered as 1.7 buds. You can argue all you like, but that is how Unusual price suggestions work here.
You have to show how you got 1.9 buds. You have to find a sale of 1.9 pure or a hat with a range of, say, 1.9-2.3 buds. That would make your hat worth more.
@Queen Chrysalis:
every hat has lower and upper range. In your example for one side you mention 1 bud hat for another you mention 1-1.2. This is not wise to do. I know its always complex to compare since there is not fixed price and have two ranges but we have to consider both for both hats even in example.
for sale of hat to its max price: it depends on effect tier, hat tier. No one pays highest price for orb planet. So you have to consider we here are discussing vivid plasma and orb fire.
Depending completely on math is not good for deciding prices unless outcome is one single fixed price. But this is not the case and we have range so have to go with that.
I have two examples hat sold for 1.7-1.8 PURE. one for promo items one for real money (still considering ur calculation for money when in fact its more than ur suggested math). and one example fresh where its sold for hat ranged from 1.7~2.1.
Considering these 3 proofs its fair to have vivid plasma mullet 1.7~2 range.
well i did some research the rate that the 1st gen effects are unboxed is rarer than the 2nd 3rd and so on so yes as time goes by 1st gen hats will always be rarer than everything else.
