Possibly a bit premature, but I think it's worth starting to establish prices for these new effects.
Particularly fond of the Cloud 9 effect, I picked up the (at the time) only Cloud 9 Glengarry in existence for 5 buds around 2 weeks ago. I immediately put it back up for trade, thinking I could flip it for a pretty penny. Here's what I experienced.
Had my trade up for a week+, achieving 340 views and 1 bookmark. That is roughly equivalent to 1 view per refresh. I only received 8 offers, described below. Link to trade: http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/12267433
Green Black Hole Plumber's Pipe (unknown value)
Peace Sign Killer's Kabuto + sweets (~ 2 buds)
O. Fire Well-Rounded Rifleman (< 2 buds)
O. Fire Vintage Tyrolean (~ 2 buds)
Powersurge Vintage Tyrolean (~ 4 buds, unstable)
Vivid Towering Pillar of Hat - sweets (~ 3 buds)
It's a Secret to Everybody Vintage Merryweather (~ 8 buds, I took this offer)
Now there are two Cloud 9 Glengarrys, further reducing the value of the hat. The current one up for trade has a buyout of 3 buds, with the owner considering a current offer of 2 buds pure. Link: http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/12631683
Cloud 9 is an interesting effect. Either you love it or hate it, and from what I've found out, most people hate it. It's a nice effect, but a tough sell. It's fairly easy to get offers in the 2 bud range, but since the price has yet to be established, it's hard to rule out getting a very good offer.
Here are some last few comments I have:
- The Cloud 9 Glengarry is no longer a 1-in-existence hat. This dampens the value.
- There are currently no Circling Hearts Glengarrys for trade, but they have been price checked around 2-3 buds. Cloud 9 will probably fall in a similar range.
- I've been following other Cloud 9 trades and have seen similar difficulty with selling. This Cloud 9 Headwarmer is a good example: http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/12052974
Conclusion: Many offers in the 2 bud range = low end set to 2 buds. Few offers in the 3+ bud range = high end set to 3 buds.
Please feel free to leave a comment to discuss this pricing. It's a new effect with very limited trade history, so pricing it now may be premature. However, it needs to happen at some point.
I was the past owner of the cloud 9 glengarry bonnet posted here, and I just sold it if this will help to prove your point. I ended up bundling it with my stormy storm cosa nostra for a purple energy whoopee cap, a white bills, and about 7-8 keys worth of sweets. I agree with the fact that it was a hard sell, being worth, in this trade, about 2.3 buds.

I've got an Phosphorous Tungsten Toque offer,
which has been offered:
3 Buds + 2 Bills (3.7~) via trade server
Planets Bubblepipe (base on the bp.tf price, it is 3.5-3.9buds)
I think your price suggestion is too early for this beauty hat:)
Cloud 9, even though you liked it adventureland, and not hating, is probably the least sought after new effect. That is the truth. The toque (robot or not) is still a heavy hat, and the robo-effects are meh. If you were truly offered a planets bubblepipe, take it and run. The glengarry bonnet is relatively cancerous and this hat will be dropping in price soon. It is only worth about 3 right now because of it being new.
I don't think so, it is a all about your opinions. But it is a bit early to set this price
I have a few issues with your post.
You might be a bit biased, being that you are currently trying to sell that hat, and a higher price on bptf is beneficial to you.
Justifying a price suggestion with a new hat + new effect, where the market value of the hat has yet to be determined is a bit silly. Because they are new, prices for these hats are inflated and cannot be used to equate value.
I'd also appreciate some proof of the Bubblepipe offer (which isn't on any of your outpost trades), and the 3.7 bud offer for the Toque ("trade server" doesn't cut it).
Please feel free to comment back.
You took the words right out of my mouth.
