There's more evidence, but I need a few people who have owned this hat before to add me so I can ask them some questions. But, with that I have gathered so far, looks like this hats price should be between 2-2.5 buds.

http://backpack.tf/id/76561198056926393?time=1372834800 shows the trilby in his inventory. Note the other expensive items he has at this time.

Fast-forward a day to http://backpack.tf/id/76561198056926393?time=1372921200 and we'll see two new unusuals in his inventory; the bubbles pillar is one, a smoking respectless rubber glove (~17 keys with overpay) is the other. Note that the trilby is missing.

Note that they're missing on the 4th, and he has a shiny new trilby. Clearly, the smoking glove was the sweets in this deal.

With that in mind - factoring overpay - we're looking at ~2.3-2.4 buds, which fits in nicely with your range.

it sold for 2 and less more often then it sold for more. 2-2.3 would be more accurate
