Reopening with a different price.
Okay, this is a hard hat to set a price on, since they very rarely hit the market.
The price is very old, and it desperately needs an update!
But one thing's for sure, and that's that it's not worth what the current price says.
http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/12693764
Sold for 200$, which equals to 5.2 buds with current prices.
This is the only sale for almost a year, and it has other offers near the suggested price.
And that is really all of the proof there is. It's not all that much, but it's all that exists, and it shows that the Veil is worth more.
Not entirely sure about this, I've still seen buds sold in-between $38-$40. This is basically putting a cash value on buds at $38.5. If anyone who is more involved in cash trading could correct me on this I'd be happy to hear.
I had an earlier suggestion that placed 200$ at 4.7, but people said buds could easily be obtained at 38$ and 5.2 would be more precise.
Hmm, alright just checked that suggestion. I trust Christley's and, to a lesser extent, Inke's judgement. This suggestion is fine.
Yah the proof isn't precise enough to jack the price up this high, can EASILY be an alt trying to get more money for it. Also I calculate 4.9 buds at 200$ with quick trading, but that's my opinion. :3.
I am involved in cash trading - and this is my math.
Buds DO sell at 38$, that being said they also sell at 42$.
Most math is like this; 1 bud = 22 keys - 1 key = 1.80$ - 1.90$. So a bud would be worth around 40.70$ USD average broken down into keys.
But if you want to get really technical 1 key = 5.77 ref (average) - 1 ref = 0.34$ (Average) at 1.96$ USD per key putting a bud at 43.12$ USD. That being said, buying a bud and breaking it into refined that you can sell at 0.34$ will take most of your week to do.
But we're here to talk average, estimating the average is about 40$ us close to normal average.
Anywho I don't trust the trade in the first place, because there is nothing but a trade, no records, no nada. Just a text record on a site. It could very very VERY easily be an alt buying the hat so the owner could get more money. That's my opinion atleast.
I know the person who bought it and it is his dream hat. If you think this is all just some stupid shit trying to crank up the value of a virtual backpack, I think you might have some problems.
I would love if somebody raised my backpack value. It just makes my stuff easier to sell.
Here are the pictures I got from the buyer.

According to him, Unsolvable Enigma got the ban because that +rep he gave him had nothing to do with SourceOP.
Alright, that's the proof I like. You have my vote.
I'm the guy that bought the hat, I sold a bunch of hats for paypal cash to buy this hat - you can see the drop in the value of my backpack here http://i.imgur.com/dS9cQrz.png
As well as the screenshots posted by user Yellowquiet is there any more proof that is needed to prove this trade is legitimate, and that the seller and I aren't the same person?
Good, and old price.
Would upvote but my bp value is too low.
Maybe strong proof, but not much proof though.
Because it is the only sale in a year, with limited data you use what you have to work with.
Would you happen to have a screenshot of the trade/ it being sold?
I'm not the one who posted this suggestion, so no...
I know the person who bought it, so I could ask him if he screenshot it.

Here's his backpack, you can see the Veil is there.
I'll upvote.
There are 5 on outpost currently, and each of them have moved hands within the last month according to matching up the item history with the dates of trades. There have definitely been other sales, however I can't confirm what they were sold for due to nothing being on the trades in question. However I'll totally agree this price is out of date.
I can link them if needed.

I don't see 5 on Outpost.
Interesting...I'm really confused what the hell I searched for earlier that showed me 5 different trades since now it's showing me nothing.
Disregard I said anything. I herped the derped.
