Apparently 5.5 has already been proven for this item, so the high range is fine I suppose. You are removing 4.5 from the range with this suggestion. You have 5 key+ offers which is helpful, you might also include some unsuccessful buyers to further show that <5 keys is not possible.

The one thing that is irrelevant here is that sellers above 5 keys don't matter with regard to this suggestion, since 5.5 is already proven. Sellers above 5.5 keys are particularly out of place, as they have no bearing on the suggestion at all(unless they sold).

This is a pretty good start, I think if you or a few other people add some proof, it will make this suggestion a solid upvote, right now I see it as right on the line, but very close.

Thank you Tasty, your comment is really clear and interessting, but i don't see other proof i can add :( I think the 4.5 is not suitable, because no one sell his crate 40 less than 5 keys, but there are approximately the same number of sell at 5 key then at 6 key (real sell, with steam trade :p) so, i think, the high price should be 5.5

I am still surprised why people pay 5 keys for it when the best they can get is a S. Huntsman, and then they would STILL not earn anything because they use 1 key to uncrate, so there is only 1% chance of earning something...

Could be collectors? Doubtful so many would collect though. Maybe people anticipate it going up or something. I'm not really sure either.

^ This guy, he knows whats up. I quite agree that it's silly the crate itself is going up so much while the stranges dont even make up the cost of the crate and key itself. Half the stranges the general public dont even use (Holiday, Widowmaker at most Ive seen it used is for MvM, and Ive NEVER seen anyone using strange Threads). There's still over 23000 40s out there, no one seems to be unboxing them much either, since they know there's really not a point unless sapper or Huntsman rise in prices.

The price is undoubtedly gonna rise though, because people seem to want to be able to sell the ones they have for higher, but Im just gonna remain neutral, dont want to encourage this silliness.

The # in existence isn't updated here on backpack.tf. If you pull up the stats page, the last data point it took was March 22nd for some reason, thats why it's just a flat line across like that. I'm betting that actual number is a good bit lower.

Actually I was going off the numbers in Stats, not backpack. I know backpack's numbers are broken, though unless stats uses same system as backpack.

It appears they are using the same number in this case, 23639, which, given that was the number on March 22nd, is most likely incorrect. Very odd that it is not updated.

Going by the rules of supply and demand, this crate can't reach very high, with only about 40% of unboxing a strange that people actually uses, and still isn't very useful as a strange. Although that is just what people say, in my opinion the widowmaker is not too bad and I'm surprised it ever reached the 1 key mark and also the Holiday punch seems like a straight upgrade, to be honest.

Crate 30 contained a lot of desireable items, with the mackerel as the least desireable but still almost as valuable as the cheapest strange out of crate 40. What should I say? The market is the market so without further ado, upvote!

You could definietly pop the price up to 5-6 keys with this proof. Many people buying for 6 keys or just offering expensive stuff. But still, upvote.
