Another day, another spell.
7 Trades on TF2Oupost, and one is selling it as a set:
http://www.tf2outpost.com/search/154909679
Sold for 1 key:
http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/10902119
http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/13159831
Selling for one key:
http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/14000560
Added for unknown price:
http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/12932353
The other trades do not have any offers on the Gray footprints. I realize this is an odd suggestion, but keep this in mind: 1) no one is selling it for backpack.tf prices, 2) People that offered backpack.tf prices have been ignored, and 3) This is the most common price offered by sellers.
Any and all comments and concerns are greatly appreciated.
wow, from 1-1.33 to 1 key?
this actually happens a lot with spells.
I'm really interested to see how this suggestion goes.
I'm not sure the evidence gives proof of 1 key, (a lot are negotiable prices and simply say 'added')
Also slightly concerned about suddenly raising this price just before these spells are potentially about to be released back into the market in huge quantities (just like every other halloween item re-released at halloween).
Speculation I know but setting a 1 key price on something that could become very common overnight would really be a mistake, when many players wont know that these sorts of items tend to be re-released.
First of all, these are valid points; however, we must work with the information we have at this current time, and if they are re-released in massive quantities, then we will respond by lowering the price according to market trends. A similar effect can be seen in re-released stranges in new crates- now that people have more ways to get the weapon, the price of the strange goes down.
The thing is, while the evidence is a bit weaker than my previous spell submissions, there is no evidence of it being sold at it's current price, which is 5 months old.
While I agree that 1.33 is not a current price I don't agree with a flat price of 1 key.
I don't agree that re-released stranges is similar because it's usually unnanounced and that makes it very hard to be careful when pricing something. Also, for spells we are talking about an item that doesn't cost a key to unbox, they are free, so anybody able to convince somebody of the bp.tf price if these drop again will be making free metal/key.
In this case we can make a very reasonable assumption that these are about to come out again as it happened with every other halloween event item and can make an effort to minimise the damage around it.
I'd also like to say that leaving a price too low does very little damage with these items. Anybody coming to sell them will either have had them for months or recently tried to buy them, in both cases they know what they can get for them. People looking to buy them will soon find out 1.33 is not enough (if that's true).
On the other hand if we raise the price now, we can't reduce it until the moment more hit the market as there wouldn't be enough evidence. This means that at the moment they are re-released people will be buying them for 1 key (possibly the highest price its ever been due to its rarity at this point) based on this bp.tf price. And then we'd have to update again, by which time I'm certain people will have been sharked lol.
Surely it would be much better to wait for the official announcement on what is returning to drops this year?
End of thesis :p
If they become re-released they are probably gonna make it unable to use it after the event, not sure why they would re-release these though...but as long as they haven't it doesn't matter
they've re-released everything else so its a fair assumption. So not sure what else will go in the halloween gifts you find in the 2012 map.
You're right that it doesn't matter if they aren't re-released, it really does if they are going to and we'll know more fairly soon.
Well I'm more thinking they haven't re-released festives and stuff like that, also they've said they wouldn't wipe the spells so a little less douchebag move would be to simply release new spells, albeit we never know until the hour strikes...this still deserves an upvote for now, doesn't it?
No they haven't done festives, but they have released every halloween item year after year, only changes have been the craftable skulls/juju.
It could or couldn't happen, but my argument is that its doesn't really help anyone by changing the price (which should be everyones main motivation) but it actually could cause more problems further down the line if rare items worth 1 key are suddenly common items dropping for free. Not a huge deal I guess, just doesn't make much sense to me :)
We can't price an item based on assumptions, the fact is that the item is no longer 1.33. Perhaps 1 key flat is not accurate, but is is a lot closer than 1.33. This is a guide, so 1 key seems to be a better price than 1.33. If you think you can come up with a more accurate price, please do so as it will help us all in the end. For now, this seems like a good price for me.
