WE ARE DOOMED! This is ridiculous, do you people want to go into a great depression? Buds go down, keys go up, You can't even buy an item worth a key for 6 refine any more. Please save TF2 and bring keys back to normal price. You all can stand by and watch as the market crashes, but I'm trying to do something about it. PEOPLE ARE TRYING TO SELL KEYS FOR 6.55!!!!!!!! SAVE US ALL!!!!!!
Here is a guide to making suggestions: http://forums.backpack.tf/index.php?/topic/3203-guide-making-good-suggestions/
Please learn how things work around here before putting proofless suggestions :)
P.s. if people are selling for 6.55 ref means they arnt following bp prices anyways derp.
You just wait and see, when everything loses value.
Nothing has lost value, in terms of USD everything is still pretty much similar... with the exception of ref losing a few cents...
If anything means more and more players can afford 6 refs...
This is exactly what nobody can't understand. Keys going up is not necessarily a bad thing, since more people can afford all the low value hats, since they're getting cheaper. And as for items worth more than a key, their value isn't influenced by keys going up (which is in fact metal going down, keys staying stable) and is pretty stable as well, along with keys, so nobody is losing anything. Now can someone please explain to me, why is everyone concerned so much about this key/metal deal?
Because we are paranoid about a depression, you can downvote, but what I am trying to do is save us. So if the market crashes, it's your fault.
Please explain how we are in a depression and how the market is crashing. It's stated in the rules, no soapboxing. Take this "issue" to the forums, not the voting section.
Its just ppl crying, wishing they had bought keys when they were 2.66, and selling them now for 6 ref, and then telling everybody to join them as they swim of their river of pathetic tears :/
Downvote lol these pppl are right you need proof :/
How would you even get proof for this? People are trying to sell them for way too much, we need to lower the influx on currency!
You can get proof of people selling lower by looking around on Outpost or Bazaar, but I doubt you'll find anyone selling for less than 6 ref that's still active. The reason ref is going down is because of the influx of players collecting weapon drops and crafting them. The typical trader won't usually use metal to craft anything, but use it as currency. Because more metal is being made/crafted than is being used, inflation happens. This is no different from the value of the US Dollar changing over the years, although perhaps on a faster scale. There hasn't been any sort of depression caused by the inflation of tangible currency, to my knowledge.

If you're trying to do something about this hypothetical market crash, at least give us some evidence. Come on, give it a try.
No proof. Downvoted.
Do I need proof for a depression, all the signs are right on the home page?!
Why do you even care, you're backpack isn't worth enough to even bother.
Now, you are just attacking me.
Nah, he's just stating facts.
Yes, if you think that this (or any after the rule change) suggestion will pass without proof then prepare to be surprised
in the beginning backpack passed suggestion without proof
good point, edited
congrats, you just did a stupid
OH LAWDY SAVE TEH KEYS!
I'll tell you the same thing I tell the others: This is a sign the TF2 economy is the strongest it has ever been. Inflation does not mean depression. With more traders that have more refined, the price has gone up. More traders can afford six refined per key; if they couldn't then you couldn't reliably sell for 6 refined.
How is it strong when 2 currencies that used to be equal are completely skyrocketing/dropping?
Buds dropped because with more traders able to afford them, the market has become more competitive. Buyers for buds (which are not a true currency, they are closer to a Veblun good) are more numerous and can shop around and find the best price. Again, this is a sign of economic growth.
can you explain why keys have risen then? because the statements about the prices of buds and keys seem to contradict.
"With more traders that have more refined, the price has gone up. More traders can afford six refined per key"
"Buds dropped because with more traders able to afford them, the market has become more competitive."
Keys are rising because metal is free, you play you get. Keys are always 2.50 from the store.
So you have more and more players getting metal, valve introducing new stuff ever few months (making people use their key and get crappy metal) it's obvious that metal's value would go down. Key's price has always been the same.
Derpeh largely covered this, but it's also that more keys come into the market, as more are "produced" and sold for refined. Buds have a fixed stock, and there will never be new ones. They aren't actually a true currency; they are what economists refer to as a Veblun good. (Basically something that you buy just because you're rich enough to afford it.)
Actually i believe it's because Halloween is coming and people are stocking up on keys (ie dumping their buds for keys) This is because before, you were able to unbox Halloween effects using normal crates as long as it was within a certain time frame around Halloween.
Which really makes no sense, as the Halloween crates will likely have their own keys. Doesn't stop people from speculating though.
lol you really are a muffin :)
Proof ?no? k.
#savethekeys again?
yes, now you've got the right idea.
HEY! It is not "Buds go down, keys go up". It is Keys go up, Buds go down.
I said this in the Earbuds suggestion recently...don't steal mah song!
