6 Refs: 35-40% of the sells are in this price. But too so many of this solds are really quick.

6.22 Refs: Not so easy to sell for this price. But the 30-35% of the market are in this price. This price should be in the range because with a few more hours you can do succesfull sell at this price.

Yeah, I argee 6 shouldn't be in the range. Their are very few that are posted at 6 refined when I do a search on Outpost, and the ones that are get adds within seconds. That's pretty much a quicksell price if I've ever seen one. Even the 6.11 posts go quickly. Right now the price should at least stay at 6.11 and their is a good argument that 6.22 should start to creep into the range.

Outpost isn't the only place to look.

Why is everyone disliking these comments? I think that 6.11 to 6.22 should be the price, no matter what other people say. 6 ref is a quicksell, sold mine is 4 seconds flat and within a minute around five other people added me. I'm not going to bother posting evidence because there is so much here, but I'm routinely selling keys for 6.33. It has gotten to the point where I have to refuse people because I don't want all that refined. I'm also buying keys at 6 refined, but that is much more rare.

The point is that the current range implies that. All prices we list are guidelines; it is expected that there is some leeway in either direction.

I understand what you're trying to say. However, by that logic, why have suggestions for keys in the first place? When keys went from 6 to 6-6.11, wasn't 6.11 already implied as possible? Not saying I'm right, just my 2 cents on this.

Because if you are simply going by the range the keys sell in, the range would be 6-6.44. Setting the range arbitrarily at 6-6.22 gives the false impression that 6-6.22 is more representative. The reality is that 6.11 is still probably the most common trade point. This suggestion doesn't make much sense to me.

Mmm, i don't agree, because 6.33 is not common, and 6.44 is almost impossible, just with a really good luck you can sell a Key at 6.44.

And that's on your point of view, people know if 6 Refs and 6.22 are common prices, 6.11 too.

Another point we have never thought of: Virtual keys (and I don't mean digital)

If I sell an item for let's say 6 keys and someone adds me and claims he has only metal, how much metal do I want as replacement of each key?

Other way round: If someone buys an item I listed at 1 key + 3 ref for 2 keys and asks for change, how much metal do I need to add before he accepts?

I have made the experience that I and many other traders accept 6 ref as virtual key price just for the convenience. Isn't that another sign 6 ref is supposed to be in the range?

As far as I am aware, this is the current state

6 refined will go quick if people know about them existing, it could be called a quicksell but the proof has shown a lot of people selling and sold at that price.

6.11 (the current price) sells at a steady pace and people are willing to pay that much for one key, this is a perfect flat or middle price

6.22/6.33 ect sells at a slower pace and is pretty much hard as hell to sell on any trade server meaning most of those sales are from outpost, and I think we can all agree that the users there like to play around with the backpack.tf prices to see how far they can push their prices past this site's recommendations and still get a sale, but its not too easy.

When it comes to the proof I do have issues with it being authentic.

Major key sellers normaly keep their old trade open and modify the notes as time passes meaning a lot of users will write the word "added" on the offers section, all fine and well but they do not say what price they are paying for it at the time so a lot of proof can be pure speculation.

Keys as much as you know is a item in Very high demand and people will swarm over the lowest prices they can get, all buyers are like that so expect low key prices to be swarmed with adds.

To be honest, I am going to sit back for a while and let this whole thing play out and see what happens before I make a choice, counter proof and errors in the current proof will be found and I will like to see those first.

Yes, many users on the line of 6.22 and more are playing with backpack.tf, but they can sell it in just hours and the very high demand do necessary extend the range. Not all the people buy Keys at 6.11 because that's impossible, but yes buy at 6 Refs and too at 6.22. Other desperates pay prices very high, as 6.33 and more.

Lucky for you, the average is not at 6.11 flat. There are 2 averages there:

- MA50 (Blue line) means it's a moving average that covers a 50 day period. It is only useful for looking at the long term behavior of keys.

- WA1D (Green line) is a weighted 1 day average, and this is the one that represents the current price (yesterday's price).

If you are using something, at least find out what it means.

The only thing I am scared about is that these suggestions are rather being used for getting medals/awards on this site instead of actually providing a website around the correct prices of the current TF2 economy.

If you said that for the "white belt did a suggestion", that's just a joke because when i started the suggestion i was white belt. And usually many users just vote for the belt's color, for that the joke.

It's not because of the white belt, to be honest. Even the people with donator 5-star unusual connoiseur stamps on their profile make suggestions that do not make any sense sometimes, and they get passed because either the author "is at that level so he/she is trustworthy" or it is an item where only one exists on TF2OP (which shows that no one cares about it) and it gets upvoted just because one trader demands a B/O at outrageous prices.

I am not saying that you are either of them, but I feel kind of shakey at the point where the price of a key (6.11) has to be split into a range of 6.00 - 6.22 . It does not feel nessecary for me, and it really only feels like that accepting a key suggestion at this time will trigger the entire TF2 trading community to buy-sell under-above these prices respectively, which causes a new suggestion and so on. Personally, I think there is not really a current price at which the community should be striving to approach via sites like this. I mean, during the time that the key has been frozen on Backpack.tf, everone kept buying at 6.00 and selling at 6.22 . All this will do is causing people to buy at 6.00/5.99 and sell at 6.33, and that is what I am scared of. The buyers of 5.99 will quickly be ruled out by the sellers at 6.33 (since everyone will be selling them for 6.33, that will reference the current price), and the price will go up.

You could just see this as the paranoid thoughts of some kid on the internet, but it has been happening ever since key prices got introduced on a steady basis, and we all see the consequences and we all deny them from time to time. The people who do try to counter it, try to do so in the most horrendous of ways; Some of which make them look like idiots.

(There was this person buying keys on TF2OP for 2.66 and reselling them for 2.55. He might have been honest, but no one knows, since no one felt stupid enough to do it.)

Upvote. Astonishing proof but it's fairly obvious that Keys don't have a single price - keys still sell for 6 ref in trade servers, if the price is at 6.11 then people will be aiming for 6.22 for small profit... They need a range, always.

I am not completely sure how that makes sense. The range increases, meaning that the higher price also goes up. You will see an increase in 6.33 sales, and the whole "key damnation" thing is repeated.

This is enough proof to show they can be sold lower. Upvote.

No but it gives a reason to remove 6 ref out of the range. It's only that the 6 ref seller that are ignorant about the high amount of 6.11 buyers. (Scrap.tf being one of them out of 100+.)

The more I look at this suggestion the more confused I get. Yesterday, I had to buy keys for 6.33 ref after fruitlessly waiting for a bargain for over 5 hours. 1-2 6.11 sales popped up but was sold before I could even blink :( :( :(

6 ref fast and almost non existence in outpost, usually reseller that swarm around there will get it first then resell it for like 6.33. if u are really looking for 6 ref, make a buying thread, i bumped mine like 3 times. got 4 people add me and sell me keys

I disagree. You must have been really really really lucky considering there are shit tons of buyers willing to pay 6.11 with auto-bump set at every 30 minutes.

The game itself provides trade servers in which people are willing to buy/sell for 6-6.22 ref at the moment!

Yeah I tried some of my favourite trade servers too but unfortunately the place was riddled with the same bunch who trade on outpost.

PS: 2-3 trade servers is enough, do not ask me to jump server to server for the sake of 2 scrap.

I was able to sell 6.00 FAST, but i struggled to sell 6.11 and 1 weapon. I tried 6.33 and got 2 trades. But other than that, i got mostly 6.00-6.11

6 ref should be included in the range since 1 key can usually be replaced by 6 ref and vice versa. And Pyroman provided us wall of 6.22 proof. So this range seems fine, upvote.

Keys and refined metal are currency, and thus their processing is not limited to buying keys with metal or selling keys for metal.

They're used to pay for items, and I'm talking about that if somebody wants 1 key for his cool vintage hat, he will accept 6 ref as well.

Maybe this side of market shouldn't be taken in account when we suggest prices on bp.tf, but I hope I at least reminded people of this point of view on these endless arguments about '6 ref is a quicksell'.

Mmm... Maybe. The Key increased their price so fast because the Upgrade to Premium Gift (See the Stats) was included in-game. I was one guy who used that for be Premium, as so many people. And increased the price scrap for scrap... Isn't so different.

This suggestion is not actually lowering the price of keys; the average and median is identical to the current price. They are simply including more numbers, they aren't actually changing the value, up or down.

i think that the wider range is better for currency after all everybody is buying at 6 ref to sell at or at least try to sell at 6.22 witch to be honest i have never sell a key at that price except some fall keys.

6 ref is the most common price in trade.tf too.

also the 6 ref represent the 21% of all the keys traded according to pyroman so if anything it deserves a place in the range.

Everything is quicksell under 6.22 because there is more than 200 sellers on outpost who want to make amazing 1-2 scrap profit on keys.

While I do not like that 6.11 was chosen over 6-6.22 the last time, woifi picked the flat range then and there certainly isnt enough reason to make it a range now.
