The amount of users selling these glasses on Autpost with Chemistry Sets and Strangifiers is too damn high! Anyways, time to make the last of the 10 new Strange-ready miscs go up. My first non-Unusual suggestion in more than 3 months... but I'm still too lazy to do anything that requires more than 5 trades of proof.

All I can tell you is that we certainly aren't seeing anything for 1.33! 1.66 is a maybe, as there's only one seller on any TF2 trading website selling for that, and he's been selling it for at least two days. 2 ref happens often, and there are definitely adds for it.

Edit: Not sure with the gift wrap thing, I think we should only use pre wrapped speks, so maybe 2 ref flat would be even better, but it's at least more accurate than current range.

In the past couple of months, I've had about 53 sales, all at 2.33 refined each, although the majority of those has been since the strangifier for the speks was released.

Don't You Need Gift Wrap To Sell This?

Actually, you can use Gift Wrap, but there's a method to getting these that doesn't involve it. Basically, you make an account, and then upgrade it to Premium using a store purchase. Then, you get to refer somebody to receive these glasses, completely clean, and they don't have that ugly gift text permanently attached to them. It's the method the guy in my last trade is using to produce his Speks.

If he uses upgrade to premiums, yes. But he can also buy a weapon in the store for $ 0.49 to get premium. Since refs are 0.31-0.32 now, this is a good deal, because this way he pays around 0.25 for a ref.

One trader should not be used as the standard for the community unless everyone is selling specs in this similar fashion. Keep in mind. He has not made one single trade but manipulating the system. So these are NOT ACTUAL TRADES occurring and should not be used as evidence IMO.

Same thing with CD keys that get you an item. When the robot chicken hats came out, people were selling cd keys but could not use them as evidence in the price suggestion. Nonetheless, the top range is already 2 ref and that trader seems like a joke to me. 50 idle accts to get such little value back LOL.

Anyways, with so many on the market now, there should be more links proving ACTUAL SALES at 1.66, unsuccessful buyers at 1.33. This is the typical standard for any price increase suggestion.

Yeah, about that... most of the 13 pages aren't selling the Speks at all. They're selling it with a Chemistry Set/Strangifier to make it Strange. There's probably only one, maybe two salvageable pages of proof for the Speks themselves.

I have no idea why people are downvoting this and upvoting the suggestion.

The one link where he gets many adds at 2 ref is not actually selling the speks, but giving them to people with his idle accounts so they have no gift tag. The speks where you need a gift wrap for are not really selling at all and some of the 1.66 ref ones are unsold for quite some time now. Together with the 1.33 ref sellers I think this is enough to close this.

People with idle accounts have already created and upgraded the accounts, so all they have to do is find buyers, and keep track of which idle accounts have already used their referral. So, it's actually a fairly easy 2 ref for each idling account. ("Easy" assuming you can find a buyer, heh.)

However, people "sell" them by accepting payment and then using one of their idle accounts to name the buyer as the person who referred them, thus awarding the Speks to the buyer.

I understand this, but I don't get it. Why wouldn't you just make an idle account of your own and refer yourself for free? .-.

I'm fairly certain the referring account has to be Premium--F2P accounts can't refer anyone. So, making an idle account and referring yourself isn't free, and that's why it actually makes sense. :3

And for the person with 50(,000,000) idle accounts, they have already paid to upgrade the accounts, whose primary purpose is idling, so why not sell the Speks for some extra profits? So, it makes perfect sense for everyone.

You don't know that they are paid for and second, trades conducted in this matter are not reportable since you already accepted to "gift" him the 2 ref in the trade. Only 2 traders are doing this, and they cannot set the standard for the prices. 2 traders don't represent a substantial part of the market.

Oh, sure. I'm not saying that should set the price, or is legitimately reportable, or anything else--All I'm saying is that's how and why people do "sell" the Speks in that manner.

It was an answer directed specifically to Swate, above, (As one might guess from it being a reply to his/her comment) and not aimed at this suggestion in any general way.

I'd say it seem more alike to not boost it up as much due to having to invest enough for its strangifier need. 1.66 would be a sensible number to have the balance meet for now till a future increase of demand to then increase be best.
