Very rare, needs a bump.

Two sellers for 2.66 in classifieds, one hasn't been online for 3 days and the other is ignoring me so far.

Sellers

Less than one page on Outpost, here are all trades

Valid trades:

http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/15392786 Offer of 2.66 refined a week ago, seller hasn't responded.

http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/15992604 Offer of 2.66 refined, trade still open

http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/15963190 'backpack.tf price'

http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/10175254 Selling for 3.33 refined, one add 6 hrs ago

http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/14672944 Selling for 4 refined, one add, one offer of 2.66

http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/13888656 Selling for a key

And the rest:

http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/8591779 Not in backpack anymore.

http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/11610205 Not in backpack anymore

Buyers

http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/16013258 2.66 ref, 1 day old, 1 person saying added but none in backpack

all other buyer trades are lowballing for 2 ref or less

This does need a bump in my opinion due to rarity, I am just not sure what exactly to set the price at because this part is so rare. Decided for 2.66-3.33 because two at 2.66 and at least one sale at 3.33 refined - the next confirmed sale is for 4 ref but 2.66-4 refined seemed like too large a range.

Constructive commentary welcome.

    How about actual sales though?

Month old trades aren't the best proof

This is what I see so far:

    Ready sellers at 2.66 ref

One person with an add for 3.33 (Valid, missing spot within sappers removed parts in his bp. Assumed sold a sappers removed part.)

4 outliers (One @ 4 ref, two @ a key, and one unknown)

Going to have to downvote. You have only one proof of your high end and you've shown us that there are many sellers willing to sell at 2.66.

I see as many 'ready sellers at 2.66 ref' as 'outliers' for a higher price, so I wouldn't exactly call them outliers anymore and say they are instead justified as evidence the price can go up. 2.66 refined might be the cheapest you can get this item, doesn't mean people don't want to pay more (for instance because of convenience - not everyone wants to wait for someone who's been offline for 3 days to come online again, etc.).

Look at it this way: 6 trades. 4 adds for a higher price than 2.66 refined. Why keep the price at a flat 2.66 when people obviously pay more for it?

Those "outliers" are also called "highballers," or people that ask way higher than the bp.tf price. Let's look at it a different way.

If I pay 1.66 ref pure for someone's Lvl 37 Modest Pile of Hat, does that make the Modest worth 1.66? No it doesn't.

If someone buys my Strange Part: Sappers Removed for 3 refined pure, does that make the Strange Part worth 3 refined? No it doesn't.

        However

If I'm selling Description Tags for 2.33 with much success that I'm getting multiple adds by the hour, that DOES show for an increase in price.

If I'm having trouble buying Description Tags for 2 ref, that DOES show for an increase in price.

I'm not seeing that with the Strange Part: Sappers Removed.

It's not 'highballers' if it is the actual market price, backpack.tf is a guideline not a bible. We're not talking about 1 trade we are talking about 4 trades which isn't much except that there. are. only. 6. available. So that's 80% that sold for a higher price. Is it still highballing now, or simply a more accurate reflection of the market?

The reason that Sappers Removed doesn't sell more often for higher than 2.66 is the same reason for them not selling much at 2.66 refined - it is a relatively low demand item, with a very limited quality available. How hard is it to understand this?

I mean - what kind of evidence do you need, then, for this particular item? You can't reasonably expect me to provide 20 sales of such a rare item. I think the adds make it obvious that people are willing to pay more than 2.66 refined for this. I even showed you someone who has trouble buying them at 2.66 (http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/16013258).

For what it's worth, the average price on the Steamcommunity Market hovers around 3.33 refined too last I checked.

Ok, I've decided to analyze your proof a bit further.

            Classifieds:

            2 sellers @ 2.66

            1 seller @ 1 key (Obvious Highball)

http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/15392786 Offer of 2.66 refined a week ago, seller hasn't responded. Last bumped 6 days ago

http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/15992604 Offer of 2.66 refined, trade still open No longer in bp. History shows different owner. Has renamed items in his bp, assumed sold for a name tag, which is 2.66

            http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/15963190 'backpack.tf price' Proves 2.66.

http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/10175254 Selling for 3.33 refined, one add 6 hrs ago Valid proof for 3.33

http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/14672944 Selling for 4 refined, one add, one offer of 2.66 Most recent add was 2 weeks ago. Besides, 4 ref is not in your range.

http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/13888656 Selling for a key Again, outlier. I'm amazed it actually sold.

http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/8591779 Not in backpack anymore. Items traded for are unknown.

http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/11610205 Not in backpack anymore History does not state a new owner. No item in his bp has a Sappers Removed part attached. Either sold to a private backpack or deleted.

http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/16013258 2.66 ref, 1 day old, 1 person saying added but none in backpack Never bumped

Community Market never has anything to do with the value of an item. Posthumous Kills goes for 20 cents (~2 rec) on the market but it's only stated as .44 ref on bp.tf.

I'm just not convinced that the sappers removed is worth 3.33. If you're not convinced that it's not worth 3.33, then agree to disagree.

One classified seller hasn't even accepted my friend request. The other has literally been offline for 4 days now, aka ever since he posted the classified - no way for him to have sold it.

The 'not bumped' argument doesn't really apply here in my opinion when sellers have been online - the trades that are unbumped have been just as visible as those that haven't been, as they are all on the first page of search results. 4 ref isn't in the range because that would make the range too large. That is why I decided to stick with 2.66 - 3.33 - a range of 2.66 - 4 ref or even 2.66 - 6.11 ref would be an awful one.

You're only confirming there are two confirmed sales at 2.66 and there have been 3 sales at higher than 2.66 refined in the past few weeks, so let's agree to disagree then.

      http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/16120268 - unsold at 2.66

      http://backpack.tf/classifieds/search/id/520031ecba25365269000004 - three unsold at 2.66

      http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/16118158 - sold for 2.66

      http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/16128357 - would take 2 craft hats (2.66)

Among your proof, there is one sale at 3.33, but there are still many unsold at 2.66. Sorry, there isn't enough proof of sales at 3.33 for this suggestion.
