Approve. The appearance of the Festive BB has definitely increased the hype around these things. Easy up, up, and away.

Honestly, I'd have thought it'd have decreased the hype on these things, with people replacing their Strange Black Boxes with Festive or Strange Festive Black Boxes.

Not really. Festive Black Boxes don't keep kills so can't use those to stroke your own ego, and the Strange Festive Black Box is currently too expensive to afford for most people - there's a big gap between 1 key and 7-8 keys.
