upvote just sold 2my keys for 7refs each!
what's wrong with this comment? :D
Baloo:

What can I say?
Upvote
The difference is that Baloo's comment actually contributes to the discussion.
http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/16742490 sold a few for 7.11
http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/16846589 sold 2 for 14 ref ~ 7 per key. 14 new ref in his bp
What's with all the dislikes?
becuz muh keyz how dare you provide valid proof
People butthurt about metal plummeting and keys not falling.
just sold 3keys for 7ref each per ~1-3mins (opened each trade from new for 1key to see how popular is it)
Been able to come acorss a key at 6.66-6.77 when I see it in a classified listing, but doesn't happen often
I guess I'll Upvote with so many buyers above that, and 7 ref
This was going to happen sooner or later... Upvote.
1300 votes and 90 comments in 10 hours. Damn
Why dislike that...? XD
Pretty funny how your comment got 10 dislikes in another 10 hours XD
I think neutral is best on key prices... for me
Seems like a lot of people here like to dislike comments O_o. Why?
because half the people don't want keys to rise
i can only hope 7 ref is a stable price :/ upvote.
I am going to stay neutral on all key votes from now on.
And also, if it gets to 8.33 ref I am going to kill myself:
.30 for the low ref price
2.50 for a key
2.50÷.30=8.33 Ref
That's not how the paypal math works. If keys continue to rise (and no doubt they will) the price of ref in $ will decrease to match accordingly.
Awesome, so ref'll be 0.01 each? Good luck getting any sellers for less than 0.28... sellers won't go lower
it used to be .35 per ref so don't you worry. people will go lower as the ref:key ratio increases
edit: hell I remember at one point getting all my keys from a guy that then sold the ref at $.50 each but I don't know him anymore
Doesnt the economic price get set on proof of sales?
Last I checked, nothing moved unless there was proof that people would actually sell. So if no one goes below X amount for refs, then his math would technically be okay.
AGAIN, that is ONLY if paypal follows the same principal that to move the price of refs, in terms of real money, there must be proof of sales that have occured showing a connection to the actual change in price to match the keys.
Im no expert in the paypal to real money, but from what i know about tf2 sellers, they want to profit, and bringing down the price of refs doesnt help. So more than likely, Ben would be right.
If the math works out properly to GAIN money at selling ref suddenly there will be more supply (key sellers will switch to ref) and either the ref:key ration will stabilize or the price will decrease
I can't help but see how you neglect the fact that many people are still selling at 6.77 and 6.88 by claiming all of them are "quicksells". I've made many buys recently at 6.88 and even 6.77. I also like how you redefine the entire word just to do so. It's quite smart to try to hide the counter-evidence like that. But I'm still going to have to say 6.77 - 6.88 is still approximately a reasonable price.
HINT: Look at item history
Also, some of the links such as: http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/16830911 The keys were sold to a KEY BANKING BOT AT 6.88.
Same with: http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/16832626
For this one: http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/16830903 Keys didn't even sell, he just closed the trade.

This person is obviously being favored here, he has 2 trades put as evidence:

http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/16838424 Didn't sell, just closed trade
http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/16837215 Fake evidence, never had 20+ keys the past 2 days EVER
Special man #2, 2 trades, 1 person: actually 3 times, if you include first one
http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/16833641

http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/16836154 Didn't sell, just closed trade
http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/16834783 Didn't sell, just closed trade
http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/16833631 Didn't sell, just closed trade
These, plus a bunch more that still had stock, but just decided to close their trade.
Use Ctrl + F and you can find these links
Please take a cold hard look at your "evidence" and revise it, cause I'm not
your mother to be looking through your proof. Also, having a lot of links means NOTHING if you don't even look at the context of them
HINT: Look at their bp
http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/16830903 did sell, look in bp
http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/16844820 did sell
http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/16844061 did sell
http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/16844820 you relisted
http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/16840927 did sell, no longer in bp
http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/16840371 did sell, no longer in bp
So yeah, you have no right to accuse him of invalid links when you're the one who wasn't looking carefully
First link, look at the bp history, if he had sold both keys at 7 ref his backpack would have had an increase of about 14, but instead had around 4 - 5, unless you're claiming he sold both for that price.
Second link, you still don't have a single clue what happened, cause there is a gap in the bp history. So we must rely on the tf2op item history now, don't we?
It's the same with the third link.
Also, I made a mistake there, cause I went backwards when checking the links.
Fourth link http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/16840927 He has 0.88 metal, so unless your saying he sold it for 0.88, then I guess he used that key for something else, can't we assume that?
Fifth link http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/16840371 The key is nowhere to be found, the history can't be seen, how can you assume it's been sold when even the amount of metal he has doesn't concur with that situation.
Just cause the item is no longer present, doesn't mean it's been sold, there are way more possibilities than just simply that. Hey, some people like taking a little bit of a risk, or maybe decide to buy something else with that key.
Why don't you invalidate all of my counter-evidence, if you wish. Oh wait, you can't.
http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/16840927 Really? Saying it didn't sell because he has little metal? he probably bought something else
http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/16830903 1 of them is gone, and as for the metal in his bp he probably bought something too. People don't always let metal sit around forever.
http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/16844820 no we can't rely on the history, because sometimes it's extremely innacurate
http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/16840371 again with you can't rely on his amount of metal
And i can't show how they sold, the owners would have to provide trade history proof, you can't blame me for that
http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/16840927 He very well spent that key as well as 4 more keys on a certain item, which can be seen here: http://backpack.tf/id/76561198006241880?time=1388390400 (first link) NOT SELL IT FOR METAL
http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/16830903 he still has that key, http://backpack.tf/item/2225289801. Also, for the one gone, none of the metal he has or received has "MeGaTrOn #Road to 100 buds..." as a previous owner, which indicates it was likely an item that was paid for the keys NOT METAL
You need to keep in mind for most of these, you don't have definitive evidence that the keys were traded for METAL, they could have been traded for items or even uncrated with.
Is this a possibility, maybe so far fetched you never considered it. But maybe the missing keys were used to unbox //shock, horrified faces, sudden realisation//
OK that's it, im done.
There are 41 keys in the classifieds atm. 4 are for less than 7 ref, and all of them have sold and just been left open :c
Also about my "special man" when you have a suggestion with a lot of links duplicates/same trader happens. Shit happens. I typically discount counterproof coming out of the mouth of somebody who has never made a suggestion with 3 contribution points and an all-time voting accuracy of 62.5% out of 8 votes.
Anyone can provide counterproof, not everyone is comfortable with getting abused by people like you when they make a suggestion/ provide counterproof.
To add to this
If you put up a trade to sell at 7 ref you'll get atleast 3-5 adds within the seconds
And if you try at 7.11 ref it will take a little longer
And i've manage to sell at 7.22 ref
i haven't sold one for 7 ref for a day
nvm, just sold one
On a different topic, let's stop bickering and enjoy the rest of 2013. Happy New Year's everyone! God bless ya! :)
2014 now! :D
Isnt a quicksell an adjective for an item?
MOST OF THE 7 REF PROOF TRADES ARE PEOPLE THAT CLOSED THE TRADE AND DIDNT MAKE THE TRADE LOOK AT THE KEY HISTORY AND LOOK AT THIER BACKPACK
NOTHING IN THIER IS REAL PROOF THIS ALL BULLSHIT
That's because they used the keys/metal to buy something else...
As i said before, some people might have had the crazy idea to unbox, which seems inexplicable to most people on here :/
then they're still not evidence of an actual price, which is the whole point here.
People sell keys because
1. They need metal
2. They bought it from the store/market, and metal is not available in the store or market
Thus, it is pretty obvious that if you need metal, you are going to spend it =_=
Upvote, However is there any real point in changing it so soon? I mean they are gonna just rise in a couple of days... Just hope that when they reach 8 ref they stop rising!
They won't.

upvote because i cannot find any for less then 7 refined.
Most off them are listed for less aren't even having keys anymore.
Agreed. I've been buying up all the 6.88 keys I can find :P
NOOOOO NOT AGAIN.
Poor keys. But upvote, regardless. Solid proof man.
I needed to buy at 7 refined each to get some keys. Lower was impossible.

BUYING
http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/16875322 buyer for 7.11
Again, what's the dislikes for? It's valid as far as i can tell
*is preparing for dislike rainstorm* as soon as this gets to the front page, every comment gets disliked unless it provides lots o' proof towards the suggestion/against it. Im pretty sure some people just scroll down the page disliking regardless, but with key suggestions, its weird anyways
Maybe its because I didn't bold that these are buyers so some of the people scrolling through are thinking that those are possibly 6.88 refined sellers? I'm not sure, it might just be that you listed a person buying 1 key and was just desperate as opposed to multiple resellers and personal buyers alike both at and above current high-end. Those are the only ones I can reason at the moment :P
I feel dirty upvoting this but *sigh* I have to agree with it
http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/16687088
I've gotten a few out at 7.22 and 7.11, upvote.
" just sell at whatever the average value is based on trade.tf's stats of actual trades.." coz there arent any actual trades here, clearly
wut
"We could change the price to 5 refined overnight" lol no, because nobody's selling for 5 ref anymore. And even if we could, they would just continue rising
Reading 1/3 of a sentence out of context makes everything all the better.
I'm fairly certain way more than just 2% of the trades occur on outpost.
Even then, trade servers pretty much reflect what happens there. Everytime I went into one there would be no difference.
lol Outpost isn't for convenience its such a hassle to find a decent buyer. I had to go through tons of trades where people were trying to buy between 6-6.66 refined and some even had trades set up where it was "buying for 6.66 refined and selling for 7.33 refined"
Also in regards to trade.tf or tf2finance.com being used as alternate means of pricing keys, feel free to use them. backpack.tf is not the only pricelist, it is just the most widely used, but be aware that both site owners, who are on my friends list, have already said in the past that they would not wish to partake in having their automated key values be linked to backpack.tf
Also if you look at the trade.tf stats it says that from collecting the average price form over 1800 web sellers, that it current has an average listing of 7 refined: http://www.trade.tf/price/5021/6
trade.tf also functions using a different calculating system so that while it may appear that it is currently at 6.77 refined flat, there can actually be hundreds of sales occurring at a higher amount as detailed by Swag here: http://steamcommunity.com/groups/trade_tf/discussions/0/810924133958252441
We can't blame the Sellers alone. If the sellers find no buyers, they will be forced to sell at low price just like how item prices works.
Demand for keys is way high than Supply thus it keeps on rising.
~
Anyways, on topic..
Good proofs.
~~
Rising the gear up.
Can i ask, why has the key price been increasing so much the past 2-3 weeks when the price had been very steady for months on end. What made everyone shit themselves and buy keys?
COUGHCOUGH*smismass update*COUGHCOUGH
surely people would be buying smissmass keys though right? riiiiiiiiiiiiight?
To jump into and recline in my speculating armchair, I would say it's the sale. The smissmass sale is consistently the biggest one of the year and this one in particular gives extra incentive to buy loads of games through the rare item distribution that is snow globe smashing. The sale therefore leads more people than usual to want to turn their backpack into steam wallet money. Trading non-sellable items into metal followed by trading metal into keys to sell is the easiest and most reliable way to do that.
But, either way, this is a discussion best left for the forums.
well when put that way i can easily see how the prices of keys can fluctuate so much and turn into rapid price increase. With so many in store items on sale, steam practically giving games away and the new trading cards, it appears keys are a much more valuable commodity than usual. While i agree with the proof i would like to see, not a drop in key price but perhaps a more stable price. If things like this keep going then surely people are going to be more inclined as to leave tf2 trading. Regardless, my vote is in the up direction
Obviously guys... over the last day more then 15,000 keys have been bought and sold on outpost duh (2%).
Number of keys in existence does not equal the amount of keys that are traded everyday, and not all keys are sold for metal. I should think a far greater majority are spent buying hats/miscs/weapons/buds/unusuals rather than simply key to metal transactions.
Have to agree with this, upvote.
I really wish keys would have stayed the way they were before, people like me have a hard time buying anything that costs a key or more.
| have a hard time buying anything that costs a key or more.
I agree. I have a thought that because there is SO much metal going around, crafting metal into craft hats would cause the rarity to go up, causing the amount of metal for keys to decrease, making the tradeoff of keys to metal to go down.
Just a thought, but this is really solid proof, and we all knew that 7 ref flat would come sometime, and who's to say we won't end up at 8 ref before March next year?
http://backpack.tf/classifieds/search/id/51fffb0c4bd7b8840a000011 bunch at 7 or more
Most of these are unsolds.
Now the joke spray of demoman selling keys for 8 refined to heavy will be tru.
On a serious note, this is a valid amount of proof, but you may need unsuccessful buyers at 6.88-.
http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/16758119
If you have the will to wait, then you can buy them from non greedy people.
Shameless advertisement. Classy.
http://backpack.tf/classifieds/search/id/529a94044dd7b885728b4567 gl
never mind, it was 10 ref a few hours ago lol
It's funny how months ago people were panicking over keys hitting 6 ref but now most people like me just stopped caring.
Anyways it's impossible to find for under 7 ref, anybody selling for lower are out of keys, upvote.
As farfetched as it is gonna sound, unless a massive schism in the TF2 Economy occurs between now and then, refined will crash and keys will soar (both at once). This will occur because of profit whoring: the practice of buying keys for under a common price and selling them at slightly above the common price. Then, profit whorers think, "Guys, we gotta raise the price, [strike]we're not profiting enough[/strike]." Rinse, repeat.
Ok, so please tell me if I'm wrong, but aren't those people who are selling keys for 7.22 ref just trying to make a profit? There is no shortage of keys, nor is it difficult to get them. Whenever the price rises, they adjust their selling price to give them a profit…If you make their overpriced offers the standard, then they will sell them for more….it seems like a vicious cycle to me…But you know, i could be completely wrong (:
it is a vicious cycle because the 2nd sentence of this paragraph perfectly describes ref, keys are finite, however
Keys are infinite… I know its taboo, but all of those keys…they came from the mann co store [GASP] The amount of sellers may be limited, but until the mann co store shuts down forever, and the almost 5000 keys on the market are gone, more keys will always enter the economy…again correct me if I'm wrong :)
Take it to the forums; verbal warning
so, if its not "upvote" or "downvote" or adding/removing proof, then its against the rules of price suggestion commenting?
On keys suggestions apparently. And the fella was just replying to the guy's question.
http://backpack.tf/vote?showrules=1
What is wrong with this......
I question the well being of this community if you dislike someone who shows rules of comments. And for the record PEOPLE ARE SELLING FOR ONLY 7 ref NOW!!!
It's not even officially 7 ref...
They are disliking the poster, not the content.
everyone dislikes everything on key suggestions, which is part of the reason admins hide a ton of stuff, and yeah.. I my comment had 6 likes when I posted the one below supporting the comment hiding, so a lot of it is contributor rather than the content
nah, cleverpun's right, the initial comment is fine, but my response is something that should've been put in the forums rather than on an active price suggestion. I apologize for inciting the discussion here, and I believe that we should stop this unnecessary post thread that no longer has anything to do with the suggestion
I'm still partially confused as to why keys are rising anyway. You'd think there'd be a break point but... there hasn't been one.
You have solid proof, once again. I have to vote up.
I bought a few keys at 6 ref ,-,
Granted, they're Robokeys, but still
>mfw butthurt
Welcome to TF2 Trading
That guy happened to be me, but theres nothing we can do about it. Profit is rising.
Wow I can't believe you're not doing this for profit in metalGood proof from all available so far. Upvote, but it would be a bit easier to see 7 refined as the constant price for a while. My only grievance is that 6 is such a good number to round (1 ref~.15 keys 2 ref~.33 keys, 3 ref~.5 keys)
isnt 7 day cooldown still in effect its been 6 X_X
3 day cooldown X_X
http://forums.backpack.tf/index.php?/topic/2620-key-cooldown-guidelines-read-before-making-key-suggestions
It is only a 7 day cooldown if he were suggesting a minimal change such as making it 6.88 refined flat or 6.77-7 refined, but changing it to 7 refined, which is over a scrap change to the median value, is only a 3 day cooldown.
ah gothya just checking thanks
These keys are selling for 7 ref. There is every reason for a price raise.
I dont think it makes a big enough step, but yes up voted.
7.11-7.33 sounds better to me. I can sell like hot cakes at 7 but not buy at that price.
*cough* http://scrap.tf/keys
Very long queue to sell keys to the bots.
And I sold one: http://i.imgur.com/VZuz7S2.png
up vote couldn't find any at 6.88 so bought 5 at 7 ref then found one at 6.66 i luckily bought the last one it was sold in less than a minute
i couldnt find a key for less than 7 ref when looking today. upvote
7refined flat? dont think so should be atleast 6.88-7refined
Crying because the economy is going to implode. Upvoting because I was going to make this suggestion earlier and I didn't have enough contribution points.
http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/16702432 I bought 2 for 6.88 ref (I can't get a screenshot because steam is glitching).
But that was 3 days ago and ever since I haven't bought a singe one.
Up-vote.
Can anyone explain why keys are rising so much as of late?
Someone already did it.
QUOTE: "Everyone is buying keys now even though at a higher price because they "think" that the price will go up so they decided to keep it and when the prices go up they resell it. But the last two key price adjustments (including this adjustment) were huge compared to previous ones.
Your argument does not explain why key prices are recently rising so rapidly.
It's not my argument. It's a quote. Tell it to one who originally posted it.
FINALLY!!! someone that does a flat number instead of a range!!
Really solid proof, and I can't find any keys for sale for lower than 7 ref.
Upvote.
I'll downvote this... Because i have 6 bots and they are buying keys for 6.77 And it goes perfectly, So NO.
Quicksells cannot be part of the range
Prove his bots are quickbuying? do it.
tell me, do his bots resell for higher?
So you're saying that 6 bots control the entire market? lolnope
Oh you mean your bots that are currently buying for 6.88 refined and reselling for 7.22 refined?
http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/9981866
I can see that it just went so perfectly at 6.77 refined, and that 7 refined must be low if your bots are managing to sell for 7.22 refined.
If you're going to be hypocritical at least make it less obvious.
It's been f***ing easy to buy at 6.88, i have no idea what planet you guys are from but scrap.tf and the classifieds have been filled with 6.88 listings.
My personal counter proof:
http://i.imgur.com/iL34z09.jpg (14 keys traded)
(i could keep going further back than the 26th but you will all call it luck/out of date)
if you check again actually scrap.tf is now buying keys at 7 ref each. It has 250+ keys.
Well, the proof is in the pudding, or the links, whatever.
I guess I say upvote, would like unsuccessful at 6.77 and 6.88 considering they are no longer in the range.
Upvote sold my key 7 ref in a instant in tf2 outpost
Damn..... Upvote
I've been offering to buy them for 7 all day. Not one seller. Check.
hey someone really needs to adjust the price of keys $$ wise coz keys dont sell for 2.12$ and sure as hell not for 2.17$ for real life cash.
welp just sold 1 key on classies for 7 ref, 2 adds in a few minutes
As sad as it is i have to upvote D: cant find a single person selling for 6.88 ref
I don't understand this suggestion.
I also bought a few keys at 6.44 like some days ago.
But,I would probably do 6.77-7 Refined.
It's still possible to buy at 6.77 or a bit lower, but can also be possible to buy at 7 refined.
i stopped trading for 10 days. the price jetted from 6.22 ref to 6.88 ref. really hard to believe :P
Upvote, I didn't even need your proof, its factual keys are 7 ref now!
I suggest 6,88 - 7. Maybe even 7,11 since highballers also have a lot of success in this range. ;P
It wasn't hard for me to find people who sold Keys for 6,88 Ref.
Remember that I was only able to buy 1 or 2 Keys at a time because I'm currently selling all my crafthats etc. for metal ;p
http://puu.sh/64yIS.png
http://puu.sh/64yJx.png
http://puu.sh/64yK9.png
http://puu.sh/64yL7.png
http://puu.sh/64yLK.png
http://puu.sh/64yMx.png
So only 7 Keys.. Still, 4 of the persons I traded with had 10+ more Keys for sale.
6,88 is easy to find and common enough to put it into the range.
why the fuck is he getting downvoted?
i'm gonna post also a counter proof on this suggestion. 6,88 is not impossible, as shown down i have bought keys for 6,66 refined in the last 2 days also .
my trade here - 60 views and three bookmarks http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/16832517
my trade history - 1) http://i.imgur.com/qtNFboL.jpg - 1 normal key + 1 nice key + 1 reclaimed = 14 refined (6,88 ref per key)
2) http://i.imgur.com/RAorWkv.png - 6,88 ref for 1 key
3) http://i.imgur.com/DNX2fxv.jpg 6,66 ref for 1 key
4) http://i.imgur.com/yCP4IYy.png 6,66 ref for 1 key
5) http://i.imgur.com/RL7A9ar.png 6,88 ref per key - also bought 1 nice key which i sold for 1 normal key + 1 reclaimed - basically bought 1 normal key for 6,66 refined
CONCLUSION! 6,77-6,88 is ok . The keys market is very large (a lots of sellers ). They are all looking for profit, and raised the price. If you make your own trade you will see there are more people than you think who currently sells for this range.
7 refined is currently the buyers "need" pay price . why do i say this ? because no way in hell you will find what you want in 10 seconds searching on tf2op .
There are also multiple traders who sold today on bp.tf listings keys for 6,77 refined. Do not say it's impossible to buy keys for this if you haven't tryed.
This whole "upvote for good proof" is bullshit. There are people who vote this for points on this site and never actually tryed the market .
Let the downvotes begin on this comment.
Quicksells can't be part of the range. People frequently buy stranges a rec or 2 lower with much success, but that doesn't mean it should be included in the range. Multiple listings for 6.77? Why don't you try adding them and see that they sell super quickly. I don't even know why we're discussing 6.77, it's obviously far off.
Also, you've tried buying at 6.88. Ever tried selling at 6.88? Let's see how many adds you get.
i think it's pretty obiviously you can still buy keys for this . if you don't want to put a little "trading" in this than probably you should pay the 7+ ref price. People who sold me keys are people who had trades on tf2op for selling it and THeY have added me.they saw my trade.
tf2op is a big black hole when it comes to keys. There are over 20 pages of selling keys. it's unlikely you won't find any ok price in that, don't you think ?
I am not the kind of trader that buys keys and then resells them . SO no, i have not sold any keys because i use them for other trading than metal . You could check easily all my tf2op trades and see i didn't sell any key .
Good luck rising the price, and in 1 week or 2,,make a new suggestion and rise it again. This happened since they "bumped" in price and it didn't stop . Probably it will come to the same price(or a little bit lower ) than the tf2 shop value
Just try putting a key for 6.88. It's a quicksell. And since you're buying for the quicksell price? It's quicksell buying.
"And so begins my thousand year reign of key profiting!" -- Demopan.
The way I see it, prices will only continue to rise to about 8 ref or something, during which more people will buy keys from the Mann Co. Store in order to profit.
How do you make profit by buying Keys from the Store..?
i think he means the steam community store thing too.
It's not about profit, it's about people buying keys from the store and then selling them in order to increase profit-making efficiency - especially during this time when key prices are rocketing. I probably should have made myself clearer, sorry.
upvote, proof is solid.
It's still possible to find keys at a lower price but you have to put an effort in it or just be lucky before someone else snatches it away.
the price rise won't stop that you know. people will start to sell keys over the new normal price and the whole history will repeat . (example :buying keys for 7 ref and selling for 7,55 ) . in the end you will probably find hard to buy for this price and a new suggestion will come.
the price rise will probably stop once it's more profitable to buy from the mann co store rather than for metal
Its already more profitable to buy from store. I can buy three ref worth of trading cards for one scrap each. sell them on the market for eight cents each. then buy a key from the store and sell that key from below average price. The best part is that the higher keys go up, the more profit you will make unless they shutdown the mann co store
except it takes time to buy trading cards for a scrap each, it's a really slow process
upvote. when i had metal i was buying keys at 7 ref each. and even then it was hard for me to find sellers. so upvote.
7 ref is outdated. I'm trying to buy them for 7.11 and still haven't bought any...
http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/16875322
And up it goes, no fighting it, upvote
7.00 ref flast is too early. It's the higher end for sure, but not the flat rate. They're still a lot of people selling for 6.88 ref at profit. Plus, remember, if this goes through, the keybankers will just jump from 6.77/7.00 to 7.00/7.33...
you know,i don't like keys going up
cuz even do i get loads of bp value when they go up
i'll loose more when ref goes down....
oh well,solid proof
I've had no trouble buying keys for 6.77 in the past few days, as I have a TF2OP trade open with that exact price. Also, the evidence you have for people selling keys for 7 ref is invalid. You have to show sales not people selling them, this is misleading, therefore I downvote this suggestion. Next time please check your evidence and don't be so hard-headed.
bought today 2keys for 5refs each :P
Teach me master
Proof?
http://i44.tinypic.com/hrk7jb.jpg
Scrap.tf now buys keys for 7 ref, if that helps.
Yea but look at their stock now. It was literally overflowed when they changed the price
"This suggestion is based off of the last 12 hours"
Holy crap. That's a lot of proof for such a short period.
Everyone! Calm down!
Does a scrap or 2 scraps matter? Upvote!
when u have alot of keys to buy, yes
Doesn't matter anyway, on scrap.tf costs 7 ref to sell it and 7.22 ref to buy it.
remember when keys were 2.33/2.66/4 ref?inb4 warned by cleverpun.I'd actually like to see 7 ref as a constant price (1 ref = 0.14 keys, 2 ref = 0.28, 3 ref = 0.43, etc. just to show the approximate prices in ref to key conversion) for a few weeks and not at the end of the cooldown if this price is accepted. This suggestion has 187 comments atm, and 54 of them are warnings.
O_O
#warningonownsuggestion
No, a quicksell is where you sell something for a good price so it will move quickly.
I really do not like where this is going.
pls dunt do dis i ned my velens veil i dont want more spend ;~;
Being serious, nice proof. Upvoted.
Right now Scrap.tf has over 200 (251 as of this post) keys in stock which is a bit unheard of. They're doing 7/7.22 for buying/selling. I'm inclined to say that 7 ref probably within the norm if that many keys are being sold to scrap.tf but the 7.22 asking price is too high (for now) which is why the stocks are so high.
sold 2 keys this mornign for 7.11 upvote
http://puu.sh/65mOR.png Upvote.
how do i poor on the comment?
I could barely move keys for 6.88 a few days ago. It was rough, and the trade bots kept crashing on request. I found a few traders behind the curve, but these leapt up pretty quickly.
I am actually kind of happy that keys are going up. It's balancing the chance to get an unusual (through a key) with the cheap availability of everything else.
Proof of buyers at 7 refined?
idk, your bots seem to be having a dandy time buying for 6.88 refined and reselling for 7.22 refined: http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/9981866
but if you insist on a list of 7 refined buyers:

Is there anything else I can do for you besides purchasing keys from your bots at 7.22 refined which is 2 scrap above this suggestion?
Woao! 10 Link for the whole economy! Are they quickbuyers? If i would want my bots full of keys I would change the price at 7 Refined.
You asked for 7 refined buyers, I gave you 7 refined buyers. If you think that 7 refined is a good price, then why aren't your bots charging 7 refined instead of a reclaimed gap between 6.88 and 7.22 refined? I do not see any of your bots completely stocked up on keys which means either:
A) You're not getting many keys for 6.88 refined showing that it is uncommon or...
B) People are buying from you for 7.22 refined which is above current range by quite a bit.
As far as checking if they are quicksell buyers, I'm sure you're perfectly capable of doing so yourself since you are one. Just yesterday you said you were perfectly fine buying for 6.77 refined, so what changed?
I don't see any link... A better range would be 6.88 - 7 Refined. It is still pissbile and easy for 6.88. Anyways your proof is not enough, most of the link are down. prove that 6.88 is impossible.
I'm not sure what link you're looking for, but let me try to cover any that you might have thought I'm missing.
If you're trying to ask where I pulled from this suggestion that you stated verbatim: "I'll downvote this... Because i have 6 bots and they are buying keys for 6.77 And it goes perfectly, So NO." It is a little more than halfway down the comments section, and here is a screenshot of your comment in case you are too lazy to locate it: http://i.imgur.com/QV7P2iq.png
If you're asking for where I pulled that your bots are currently buying for 6.88 refined and reselling for 7.22 refined: http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/9981866 and please, have a screenshot, too: http://i.imgur.com/eMb2y2n.png

- Screenshot: http://i.imgur.com/vubT9GA.png
Average number of keys per bot: 14 keys [ (18+19+20+21+5+1)/6 ]
Average buying capacity of bots: 39.7 keys [ ((432.33+319.33+340+385.66+37.88+126.55)/(6.88))/6 ]
Your bots currently have the capacity to buy 280% more keys than they currently have in stock. This is what I mean that either:
A) You're not getting many keys for 6.88 refined showing that it is uncommon or...
B) People are buying from you for 7.22 refined which is above current range by quite a bit.
The point of backpack.tf isn't to prove whether a price is "impossible" or "possible" it bases prices on the most commonly traded values or comprises with the average price keys are sold at. Obviously you've sold at least some keys at 7.22 refined, does that mean it should mean it should be included in range? It must be possible, heck other people on this suggestion have claimed to have also sold keys for 7.11, 7.22, or even 7.33 refined. Does that mean they should be included in range? Just because some sales occur below the suggested range does not necessarily mean they should be included, and the inverse is true as well that just because some sales occur above the suggested range does not necessarily mean they should be included.
Is there anything else I may assist you with? Please, don't hesitate to ask.
You surely have more time than I do.
You deserve an applause.
Pyroman! Why did you change your steam name to this "Baloo" thing?
He has a hot gf bro, I'd do her ;)
Also, by saying "Don't you have a Gf?" are you implying that you have a gf?
Upvoted this suggestion.
It's like they were 6 ref yesterday.
http://puu.sh/65uJj.png GG
Sadly, OP is right. I've bought my share of keys for seven refined, not because I couldn't get them cheaper, but because I didn't care to. Upvoted. I've bought a total of around ten keys at seven ref, so here is some more proof for you OP!
upvote,sold one for 7.33 ref
ITT: People that will never figure out that there is no way to stop them from rising, and will never learn to farm keys and actually benefit from the rise.
I'm a massive noob and I'm not really sure, why are people buying? Is it to hang onto because they're rising? I foolishly put one up at 6.77 because I'm a nice guy who goes on the lower bound. It's worth noting that I only got 1 add at 6.77, which I thought was strange.
Anyways, I totally agree with this. What seems to happen is when ever someone makes a price and it gets accepted, people always take that price and move it up by one scrap to compete with others so they get the keys. Then it happens again, and again, and again...
I'm still able to buy for 6.77 refined per key, even though people say they aren't able to buy for 7 ref, just make your own trade and be patient, I've gotten multiple trades in past few days for key sales. Patience is virtue.
Have to downvote, too much counter evidence provided by others. 6.88-7 is probably more accurate, for a couple of days at least.
Ref is 0.3 to 0.32 cents. Let's just say 0.31 cents.
2.49 / 3.1 = 8.03
I see it coming. A key will cost 7.55 - 7.66 only if the price of the metal stays the same. Lucky for others who already farmed their keys before, Making them a huge profit of metal.
2.26 (Key at market) / 0.3 (price of metal) = 7.53
Rising more is senseless, since market keys are cheaper than at the mann co. store
I would pay even 8 refined for a key if people asked that for it, i gain enough refined for keys just as fast as i used to do in past with lower prices.
Anyway currently majority of keys go for 7 refined, while few go for more and anything below 7 refined is quick selling.
So keys need a bump or the markets will crash sooner or later.
keys are going up so much
I dont know if this suggestion is valid anymore. Keys a rising INSTANT. Maybe 7-7.22 would be better? Dunno. Staying neutral!
http://backpack.tf/vote/id/509fa1eeba25364847000000 they already called the market crazy 1 year Ago!
Forget what i just said before, this Price is still much better then the other one! UPVOTE
Take it to the forums, suggestions aren't your blog.
You only wrote this so that he may get verbally attacked by the rabid circlejerk that is going on over there. You can't refute his point, I'm certain of that, so the only way out is to avoid it.
And if this page isn't supposed to be the place where you discuss the price votings, why is there even a comment system in the first place? Please remove it in that case, you aren't helping yourself by warning everybody anyways.
The Polar's suggestion is to set key prices at 2.33 ref, which is a bad idea on its face. The Backpack.tf voting *reflects* current prices, it doesn't dictate them. Cleverpun and other mods are warning people for not contributing to the discussion at hand. The Polar (and others) are reflecting on the desirability of key prices hitting 7 ref instead of the validity of key prices hitting 7 ref.
The proof is solid. I would like to point out that sometimes prices drop, too. Take a look at the festives: it's not Backpack.tf that's driving the prices down, it's the economy. Backpack.tf is just trying to play catch-up. :)
I am more than willing to refute short-sighted, poorly constructed arguments, but only in the appropriate venues. If Dukespress wants to post in the forums, I will happily address their bad idea there.
I warned them for being off-topic, as my previous comment noted. Suggestions are for discussing proof and counter-proof.
The same goes for you; if you want to discuss my warnings then add me or post in the forums instead of clogging up the suggestion.
Soon the price of keys will not fit on the outpost trade D:
use bazaar.tf then...
I've bought 12 keys most at 6.77 ref and some at 6.66 and then sold them for 7 ref within 30 seconds
Ladies and Gentleman, we are about to break through the fourth wall of gaming. The Keys in TF2 are going now on the 7 refined line.
Ok, stop this bullshit. Upvote for that solid proof.
http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/16872049 ive been buying at 7 aswel
Got no idea why this isn't accepted yet, one minute "This suggestion has too many positive votes", and the next minute, nope.
Oh, and this: [http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/16655125] iz gud deel.
I'm sorry, but I don't understand why so many negative opinions about this pricing are being removed and users being warned. I don't see any neutral or positive posts about this being removed, even if they don't contribute to the discussion. If this is supposed to be a system where the prices are voted on by the community, then removing any opinion on a price--positive or negative--completely goes against that concept. It is also very unclear on this site whether we're voting on what we WANT the prices to be, or what we think the prices SHOULD be. If it's the latter, then why do we even vote when proof like OP gave is required? Wouldn't the proof speak for itself? This seems very unclear and ineffective, and very open to abuse by admins.
Vitriol is a lot easier to notice, and mods are only human.
I don't understand why I just was given a warning. It was a harmless comment.

Guys you have to understand, people are buying keys for lower prices and reselling for a higher price,so if you see key sellers in outpost and they are selling above 7 ref, they are either reselling or needing extra metal.Besides,if i get keys from the mann.co store and sell it for metal,i would rather quicksell it for a lower price then 7 ref(for now).
Solid proof. The evidence is there keys should be 6.77-6.88, I don't get why people are disagreeing.... UPVOTE!
Backpack.tf represents market prices, not influence it (a major mis-conception most new contributors will think).
There's was a moment when Backpack.tf didn't pass a suggestion for a key for 2 weeks and the prices still went up regardless.
It's easier to calculate price for items if it will cost 7 ref than 6.88
In my opinion, it's even easier to calculate with a key being 6 ref... there is countless number of items that cost #.5 keys and half of a 6 ref is 3 ref... and half of 7 ref is 3.5 ref... so in my opinion your story doesn't work... and when a key is 6.88 (6 ref 8 scrap), the half would be 3.44 (3 ref 4 scrap). :D
I don't sell / buy items that are "half key", but "1/x key", it's easier to calc price 2/7 for example than 2/6.88
And price will never be 6 ref anymore.
3.5 ref. Easy. 3 ref, 4 scrap, 1 wep. :)
As much as i hate to have keys rise, there are a rather large group of people buying keys for 7 ref now
http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/16886637
http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/16933792
"While 6.88 ref IS a very common price point, buying keys for 6.88 ref takes too much active effort to justify putting in the range. 7 ref is trivial to buy and sell for, but anything lower or higher takes a noticeable, non-trivial amount of time to trade at.
The sales at 6.88 and below seem to match the sales at 7.11 or above; since 6.88 - 7.11 would be a very unwieldy range for a currency, 7 ref is a better price to list.
I feel compelled to remind everyone that backpack.tf tries to list the most commonly traded prices. This does NOT mean, however, that the prices we list are the only ones that happen. It is implicit that trades will happen outside the range we list in both directions, and nowhere is this more obvious than with currencies. Just because some people are successful at 7.33 or 6.66 doesn't mean they deserve to be included, but that doesn't mean bp.tf is ignoring those trades. The same is true of 6.88 and 7.11 here; they do happen regularly, but given what a sellers market keys are at this time, it isn't feasible to include them."
-Cleverpun, from Pyroman's 6.11-6.22 suggestion, edited to fit the range
Basically, how I interpret it is that while 7 ref goes very quickly, it is still so commonly traded it should be the new range.
well since scrap.tf are buying keys for 7 ref and selling for 7.22 it's really hard to find trades under 7 ref i think i should be 7 ref
Upvote, it was even hard to get a key for the price of 7 refined. Good proof also
up vote ref is becoming kinda useless now a days, except for craft disaster
I know scrap.tf isn't the best source for pricing items, but if they are buying keys for 7 ref, thats saying somthing.

Saw a lot of keys at 6.77/6.88 in the classifields in the last few days. The problem is that those insta sell --> quicksell --> not in the range. Upvoting this, solid proof :)
btw, just list a key at 6.66 ref , you'll get more friends then the cool guys on campus will ever have :3
Way ahead of you: http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/16954185
To everyone downvoting, we both know it isn't because of the proof. I feel it's because you just cant accept the fact that keys are 7 ref. Prolly happened alot of times, couldnt accept the facts. But y'know, just gotta treat this new price as a new age of keys. They're 7 ref. It's the new norm. Accept it. It'll be ok.
I hope iv'e influenced some people here.
Oh, and a seller http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/16954185
"inb4 Remember 2.33"
Why is this allowed on suggestions when people are getting warned for saying "Remember 2.33" in the comments? It's not helping to prove the suggestion and it's about as snarky as most of the comments that are being warned.
Your not helping this either.
You know, as soon as we raise the price, dumb people are going to keeps selling at higher prices, then those people will suggest a higher price just to sell for higher than that. I'm all up for voting yes on a solid price, but only if it stays damnit!
They can suggest all they want but if they don't have buyers it won't pass. It is quite clear at this time that there are many very eager buyers at 7 refined.

I posted mine for 6.88, and got 2 adds in 30 secs, definatly a quicksell, also the lowest you'll find in the classifieds is 7 ref
I just sold 2 keys for 7ref each without any bump on tf2outpost. no proof, you dont have to believe me, but im just saying. ;o
So even though a trade has been up for say 48+ hours, never bumped, does it still class as a quick sell?
Its more than just a trade that defines a quicksell. If the seller sold within the first bump (30 minutes and usually less), then that's a pretty basic definition of a quick sell, however, traders can forget to take down their trades once they've sold. There are some traders that make a trade and then don't respond to friend requests immediately, whether on accident or on purpose, which delays when the trade occurs if it was serious. Lastly, and very rarely, I've seen trades go up with a good deal and add the owner only to gave their steam profile say they've been offline for 12 hours or more which is just annoying because you'd expect people to be online when they make a trade, at least initially. These are all factors that could delay a sale or possibly be the reason its still open even after the item has sold. I hope this was what you were looking for and that it was helpful.
Well actually, if you want to use real rates, then keys were 3.11-3.33 refined at the end of 2012, and keys were 6.77-6.88 refined at the end of 2013.
That's a metal increase of 3.60 refined (3 refined, 1 reclaimed, 2 scrap, and 1 weapon), so if it were to continue increasing linearly then it'd be 10.60 refined by the end of 2014 which is close to what you had.
However, if keys are rising exponentially, then there was a percent increase of roughly 112% from 2012 to 2013 which means keys would be roughly 14.5 refined (14 refined, 1 reclaimed, 1 scrap, and 1 weapon).
Still anything can happen for better or for worse, like if Valve ever puts keys on sale :D
5500 votes and almost no one checked the outpost links? a lot of them are from the same people.
That's funny, but 6.66—6.88 still happens pretty often in classifieds. Sells pretty quickly though.
can someone find me a seller for 7 ref, cause its really hard to find :/
Gonna just sell all my kieys for metal soon, the price is gonna peak then fall hard, i canfeel it. Upvoted
This suggestion had been at max upvotes after 1 day. % vote here is underestimating the strength of the community support. Proof is solid and at least as many are selling at 7.11 as are at 6.88. With so much buyer competition at 6.88, I'd argue that 6.88 is probably a quicksell.
