sold for 17.5 in items. Not counting as 20 as the other user claimed it as because he forgot to account for overpay. Full mid value was used for these items, added their values *.9.

I personally take the low-end for regular items.

I dont mind about your counter-suggestion but

wasnt *0.9 , mid value restricted to unusual items?

Because in that case you are counting bmoc as 10.8 keys , kringle for 6,3 refined , all-father for about 1,7 keys , eyelander for 2.2 keys which its horrid inaccurate. Even quicksale traders pay more than that.

No. For normal items it counts aswell. Basically anything that isn't pure gets overpay calculation. Unusuals are just by far the most common items to be paid with on unusuals

but bmoc for about 10.8 keys and kringle for about 6 refined , come on.

          that actually sounds about right

common sense , market tendency or whatever .. valuing those items which are often sold for more its so , wrong.

Yeah. It's called the overpay rule. It's used for all items that aren't keys/metal/buds. The overpay rule is there because if I sell, say, a nuts n bolts dread knot for 12 keys in items, I'm not going to wait a week to sell all those items for 12 keys; but, if it's 15 keys in items, It'd take me a day to sell those all for 12 keys.

ah well , if rules are more valuable in this type of occasions than common sense then its about right.

anyways i dont purely guide by maths , i have some experience trading and I dont really undervalue certain type of items in my suggestions , if i know they can be relatively sold easy for more , like in this case the bmoc and kringle or even all-father.

Well but i guess i cant only think about exact , accurate listed prices in this site because i rather trust my personal opinion and reasoning :p

          gl anyways

I don't know how to vote now. Completely lost.

There's a green button and a red button. If you press either button you vote. If you now become unsure of your vote, you can either vote neutral again or change your vote by pressing another button. I know what you mean, but I'm an idiot

            You always are ;)

Generally, no form of overpay using items has been invented yet. Because of that, items are counted as their full value generally. Sorry, but nickps' is better. Downvoted

yay , thanks for your support c:

              wut.

The overpay rule of multiplying by .9 is for ALL items (save a select controversial few) it just isn't used too often for regular items because unusuals are paid for with other unusuals, not regular items like this. Not sure how nickps' is better, because he made a conservative suggestion on an item that hasn't sold in months. Please explain.

I'll quote this directly from the forum post of overpay.

                  Standardized overpay

All OFFERED hats and items should be taken at 90% of their original average price. For a guide on how to determine the original average price, please look here - http://forums.backpa...es-of-unusuals/

If unclear which hat was offered, DO calculate overpay.

HOUWARs, Max heads, buds, keys, refined, and cash trades are exempt from overpay calculations.

Nowhere does it say only unusuals.

Due to Fiskie I cant find it anymore. But I made a suggestion ~10 months ago and soundtrack commented with a general item overpay rule which was (at least at the time) accepted by all mods. But mods came and went as did rules so idk if the rules are still the same. But generally mid *0.9 or low is okay. Don't take items at full value in sugggestions, you wouldn't on your trades

All such rules have been defined and clarified in the new guidelines.

with items, ive always taken lowend of the items and added those up. thats decent enough overpay imo, and as nickps said, using .9 * median makes some low prices

probably isn't a major difference though in price

I don't think you need to be this exact, decimals are largely irrelevant.

Remember that unusual prices aren't arbitrary, they are meant to be a rough estimation.

Unusual pricing is sort of like significant figures. Putting 17.5 belies the precision (or lack there of) of our unusual prices. Should just round off to 18 next time.
