Price on this hat is so wrong, it's almost laughable. Anyway, previous decrease from four months ago was so nonsensical it hurt, and reeked of "guy with too much rep forces his price through with no questions asked".

http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/17155603 - Two weeks ago, I bought one of these for 13.5 pure. What's noteable is that at the time, that trade was the LOWEST price on Outpost - every other owner had a 15-bud buyout or more and had turned down offers of 13 multiple times. For reference, every other trade for the beams modest that was active two weeks ago is still active - EXCEPT for two.

One of those two trades was mine: http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/17770151. Now, I'd like to direct your attention to a few things. First is that I had over 40 offers in a week - there's a lot of demand for the beams modest, largely because there are far fewer dirty ones than Burning or Cloudy Moon. Second is that on average, the beams modest seems to attract around 100-150 views A DAY on Outpost, depending on whether the seller has premium or not. It's an easy sell, and it definitely turns heads. Let's look at some of the offers I got.

- C9 Brown Bomber (currently valued on this site at 17.9 bud average, with overpay that'd still be 17 buds).

- Disco Beat Down War Pig + 3 Buds + Orbiting Fire Doctor's Sack. The War Pig received offers of a clean Burning Drill Hat (12 buds on bp.tf), putting this well over the previous suggestion of 15. Only reason I didn't take this was because the person who had offered the Drill Hat had sold it.

- C9 Modest (valued at ~16.2, just over 15 with overpay). I turned this down without even thinking about it. And moreover, if the price on this hat was correct, why would anyone in their right mind offer me a C9 Modest 1:1?

- Clean HOUWAR + Hearts Slug (valued at 4.8, I quicksold it for 4 within 10 minutes) + Ghosts Softcap (valued at 2.3, I QSed for about 1.8 within an hour). This is what I ultimately sold for, and converted to 15 buds and 15 keys.

Also of note is that the maker of the suggestion that ultimately (and unfairly) devalued this hat as part of what is essentially a cartel action offered 12 buds, consistent with his previous suggestion.

The OTHER one that sold belonged to a guy named Fri (http://www.tf2outpost.com/user/292895) who sold his beams modest for a Scorching Backwards Ball Cap (~14.9, 14 with overpay) and a blizzard storm Raincatcher (which was worth about 1.1 before it was devalued several hours after Fri bought it). That's still over the old average by a full bud.

With all of this evidence, it's overwhelmingly clear that the price on this hat is far below where it is on the actual market. It's also overwhelmingly clear that the devaluation four months ago was the result of a cartel action taken so that someone could attempt to make profit.
